This is probably a scam.  While my cell phone number is still a Denver number and Xcel is the power company in Denver, I have not lived there in over 3 years.  I live back on the east coast and Xcel or any subsidiary of them is not the power company back here.  I would be careful calling that number back.

I checked with Xcel and they confirmed that their automated collection system had called me today. However, it is an extremely sketchy sounding message. My balance is due in 5 days and I got called today. The best advice is to contact Xcel using their main number and not to call back a dire sounding robo-call.

I called that number and it does say it is their credit department although is not. I called the main Xcel number to find out why we received this call. Was told they didn't call as there was no reason to. She looked into all their phone numbers and this number above, left in a voice message, is not a valid Xcel Energy number. The Xcel rep said this is a scam and to always call the number on your bill.

I am an Xcel customer, but seemed like scam so I'm BLOCKING this number.

This is definitely not from Xcel. I know a rep there and our company is very close with Xcel. I just called my connection there and she took the phone number so she can do what she can about this.

It is a known scam. I called Xcel again today and they have lodged a complaint with AG.

It is Xcel's credit department. They want you to make payment plans.

This is Xcel Energy letting you know that they overcharged you every month since they started billing you, but they won't be fixing it, and they will still be expecting you to pay.

Called xcel to see what's up and was told that it's a known scam and to not call them back.

Message left claims to be Xcel Energy.  I, as others noted, called Xcel on their regular line and they did not call me and did not know that number.

I got a call from this number today at 1640 MST, didn't answer, no message left.  After reading some of the posts I wrote it off as a scam call.  A few minutes later when I checked my email I had 3 messages from Xcel in my inbox, the first at 1546 MST, notifying me of a power outage in my area.  The next message was sent at 1607 MST informing me that the power should be restored at 1700 MST, a final message was sent at 1648 MST informing me that the power had been restored.  Not sure what to make of that...either it actually was Xcel calling to let me know about the outage, or it could have been scammers somehow trying to leverage the fact that there was an outage in my area, or it could have been a huge coincidence.

Just got a call from this same number a few days ago requesting that I call Excel Energy back.  I called customer service at Excel Energy and they said it appeared that no one from their company had called me.  It is best to ignore  these calls.

I just had a voicemail from an automated voice with my name on my cell, saying it was Excel Energy and that I needed to call by 8 PM tonight. I would say that’s not normal or proper.

The criminal cartel called xcel energy.
