Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

oh really?  that must be why i entered a contest from Fred Meyers store, online thru the seattle weekly .com newsletter and won the very last $500 gift card that they gave away in their "Lower your food prices" sweepstakes in May of this year.  And it was COMPLETELY FREE!  :)  I live in the Tacoma WA area.

I get free lunches all the time, just go to whole foods, have them serve up a hearty meal and carry it openly through the front doors.

    Note: only works if white

sure this is from the same place that snagged us at Seafair last year. Went to their presentation full of typical pressure. You do get a dinning card but the flights you have to make commitment way in advance and you don't choose exactly when and they are at ungodly hours as I recall and of course there are fees. We never did the flights hotel therefore. Not 100% scam but close to it.

Actually that is a debt collection company.  It seems that two criminal organizations are using the same number for some reason.  I see that some of the posts are for this other company which I take is a timeshare deal?

getting calls from them.  I never got physical letter when i asked for it, twice.  It is against the law if they threaten to notify your employers, send police to get you, call and tell family/friends your business.  They are only allowed to ask them for a recent phone number and address, but cannot tell them they are collectors.  I advised them of this and told them I was placing complaints to fbi electronic/phone harrassment and the state's attny general.  Stopped calls briefly but they started again.
