- Calm Down replies to Sc| 8 repliesIt's the power company, not a scam. You reported them for no reason.
- Missy replies to DeeI keep getting calls with no messages. At least now I know what it is. I have no fence and no dog outside. I never signed up for reminders of when they show up. I think they come twice a year by me, so it's not a big deal.
- DebThey called me today. First time. It was penelec. They want my dogs tied up. Haven't had a dog in almost two years. Makes me wonder when my meter was read last
- Caller: Penelec
- Call type: Event reminder
- Lannyspoonsays 'Toledo Edison' ? Was 'Ohio Edison' last time. I have 'First Energy' (name change?). Could be about the dog. Why don't they leave a message, even if it's a power outage, etc.
- Caller: Toledo Edison
- Sally replies to SashaI got this call and I do not have this company to supply my electricity
- Sally replies to Calm Down| 4 repliesI got a call from this number and I do not have them as a supplier for my electricity. So scam
- Captain ObviousLegitimate call. I reported a power outage. Power came back on. They called and left a message indicating to text them, 1 for power restored, 2 for power still off. FirstEnergy owns Ohio Ed, Toledo Ed, Illuminating Co, Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, West Penn Power, JCP&L, Mon Power and Potomac Ed.
- Caller: FirstEnergy
- Call type: Event reminder
- WM Schmidt replies to SashaI don't believe that to be true. We never called for any electrical outage. We also don't have PSE&G as our electric provider, so they would not have any reason to be calling us. Not sure who they really are. Several different people are saying they are different so called companies or no one at all. It's a nasty scam. Time to block their number.
- RebeccaThey call to tell you they are going to be there for a meter reading and to put your dogs away if you have one. No scam.
- Caller: First Energy

- noanswerforurecd call from 8885444877 as above reports.
- SarahI keep getting unknown phone calls, no number, no way to even find out anything!

- Terpodion replies to Sally| 2 repliesIt's "Ohio Edison." Why would an electric company in Ohio call someone in New Jersey who gets their electrical service from either PSE&G or Jersey Central Power and Light? While Ohio Edison is a legitimate company, a scammer has electronically copied their number to caller ID. This is called "spoofing."
- AugThis number belongs to First Energy which owns New Jersey JCP&L power company. I also received a recorded message telling me that they will be working in my area and I might experience minor outages.
- Caller: First Energy
- Call type: Event reminder
- JonathanIt is legitimately MonPower (First Energy Corp). They were calling about a planned power outage. It is NOT a scam at all.
- Caller: First Energy Corp
- HerbOhio Edison. They call me every month to tell me I have a dog. Sometimes they actually show up to read the meter. I don't know why they don't identify themselves on the ID pop-up.
- Caller: "Toll-free caller"
- Walter replies to Terpodion| 1 replyI received the same call. IT IS NOT A SCAM OR SPOOFING. I live in PA and have electric service from Penelec. Ohio Edison, Penelec, and others are part of the same electric distribution group. I know at least one of the New Jersey companies is in this group. The call I received was a recorded message to inform me of a planned power outage for system repairs. I received the recording about a week or two ago and then again just now to remind me that tonight is the night the lights will go out.

- KatNo message left, but recognized the number as Penelec. Called back to find that they were calling to notify of possible disruption of service with specific date and approximate time.
- Caller: Penelec

- First Energy CustomerThis number is valid! It is the callback from a sub-group of Customer Service. When I finally got a human on the line, I suggested that they have the caller-ID changed to "1st Energy" or something else useful!
