I found this page. Threw Google and now i can ignore this number see i have a smartphone theyis a apps. For this can of stuff it can block any number u want so who ever have a smartphone might look into it.

Just received a call from 8885551212 about 1/2 an hour ago. I also discovered a missed call from them yesterday. Did not answer it when called. Tried calling them and it was a non-working number.  How do they do this?

The caller has special software that allows him to send 888-555-1212 to your CallerID. This is called spoofing. The caller should be treated as hostile. I hope you're aware 800-555-1212 is the AT&T Toll-Free Directory Assistance Service; the caller has a sense of humor.

got a call jus 5 min ago saying they are returning money that was stolen from me when i asked where they were located she said florida when i said i been getting fraud calls latley i asked her if i could google their number to see if it was true she hung up on me so its a scam dont answer or answer and go along tell them you know its a scam and they will hang up on you lol.

I have been getting a call from 888-555-1212 3 to 4 times a day for the past week.  Is there any way to stop them from calling? Can Better Business Bureau help?

I have been getting calls from this number.  In the attempt to make the calls stop I always do my best to answer them quickly.  Most time you hear a little background noise and then the call ends.  As everyone else who has posted, I tried calling it back and it is not a valid number.  Today I got them to answer.  The guy that answered asked for me by name.  He said that he was with a Secured Services Company and he was calling me to let me know that they have been protecting me from fraud.  Then they tried to verify my address which was over 4 years old.  Then he said well you live in Denver still right.  I said if they were protecting my identity they should have my current information without me having to give it to them.  I then asked him to clarify the company name and who they were working with.  He said they work as a company on their own but they work with many different banks.  So then I asked him which bank he was working with on my account and he just hung up.  I know better than to verify my personal information from address to anything else with a company that I have not contacted directly myself.  This has to be a fishing scam so don't play into it.  I don't believe ignoring the calls will make it stop so I will continue to try and answer but after this call maybe they will stop calling.  We shall see.  Only time will tell otherwise the next time they call I will simply ask them to stop calling and see where that gets me.

I just had a call from this number-when I called it back I got that I had reached a non-working number or one that had been disconnected

i get phone call that call me every day that one they ask for ivan then hang up on me and i say hello then hang up and over and over again. how i can stop this phone calls cost minutes on my cell phone. i called back to this 888-555-1212 they are from T-MOBILE DIRECTORY ASS. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO THIS PROBLEMS.

I've been getting these calls the past few days. I never answer numbers I don't know, especially 555 numbers which I had always thought to be fictional. I thought maybe it might be related to me starting plasma donation or getting my first traffic ticket--someone trying to use information like that for their own gain, you know?--but in my call history the first call is too far after the plasma thing and two days before the ticket. I'm not really sure where they got my number, but it's irritating. Woke me and my friend up this morning, and it keeps interrupting my music. :/

I have been receiving calls from 888-555-1212 for a few weeks, but I have never answered it. Today, I decided to finally answer it. It was a guy who claimed to work for a Fraud Prevention/Identity Theft company that I supposedly signed up for through my bank. He even knew the name of my bank. Fortunately, I do not use that back anymore and have not for the past 2 years. That was what tipped me off to thinking that it was a scam. When I kept asking why he wanted to know more information about my new bank, he told me that the company has been monitoring me since I signed up. I was very assertive in telling him that I never signed up for a company and that my bank monitors my accounts for me. He kept wanting to know what bank and company it was. Obviously, if he had been monitoring me, he should know. I guess I scared him off when I told him that I never signed up for this and I don't see why I should even give any info. He hung up before I could finish my sentence.

I received call from these people today. They said that they were with my bank (Wachovia). First major ringing bell right there. They said that someone tried to write one of my checks and the signature did not match. (Second Huge Bell here) I don't have checks. They are claiming they are from fraud protection. Ok. I can except that. Now, they need to verify my information. They called out my address. (Third huge bell ringing). It was an address from over 5 years ago. Then he rattled off some numbers. "This is your routing number, right?" (Fourth HUGE ringing bell). I told him I don't answer those kind of questions on the telephone. Then he started screaming and arguing with me that I need to verify my information so that I can get the money back into my account. While on the phone with him, I checked my account. There were no charges against it. Then, while he was still arguing with me, I called my bank. The moment that I started talking to my banker that I know very well and asking the same question and telling him what they were telling me on the phone. They hung up.

They are a total scam company. They get your information and charge your account 369.00. Be very careful of anyone calling from that number.

I received no calls, but I tried to contact them without luck

I have been getting calls from this number 888-555-1212 for over a yr I got a computer box on my phone to scan unwanted calls and it doesn't work anymore. I've answered this call several times now and they hang up on me when I told them to stop calling here but today I got this man who argued with me when I told him this was a scam and to stop calling. I didn't want anything they were giveing even if it was free and he tried to tell me that I wouldn't give him a chance to tell me anything I said you have been calling me for over a year and I don't care what you have to offer and well he told me I was dumb and hung up on me. I am also on the do not call list and reported this number I'm still waiting on something from them. I wish there was something I could do about this call.

We have been getting calls from the number 888-555-1212 for months, and several times a day.  No one ever answers it always hangs up as we pick up the phone.  There is no way to reach an operator to request to be put on the do not call list.  This is a major inconvenience for our company, it is harassment and we need it to stop

Have been receiving constant phone calls from this number it used to show up as Citizens Communications but now it is showing up as AT&T with the same number (1-888-555-1212)  Please help stop these calls.  Thanks
