No lie, that's the caller id. Never pick up a 555 number it's a non-existent except in the movies number. When is 800notes going to make the Scammer category in "Call Type" . COME ON!! these guys are nothing but scammers and should be put in that category.

scammer and NEVER call another number like an 800 number that they tell you to call. Even a private number will be exposed on an 800 number. You don't want to take a chance on opening up the flood gates to these guys who call under spoofed numbers running scams from vacation rentals, to IRS, payday and Won a Cruise. IT's a boiler room from overseas that's logging into a bouncer in Oregon. DON"T answer, block them. I use youmail.com for free on my land line. Yeah I have to enter new ones but overall my life is much quieter. I turn off my ringer and if I see an unknown number has called at the end of the day I just block them. If they can't leave a message they're a scammer. If they really want me, they leave a message. My family and friends text me. I use the land line to call out on.

the number was easy for me to block w/o checking here first since it is the number allowed to be used on TV and in movies as a "dead number"

They called 3 times back to back...

Got a call first from 818-555-1212.  An hour later, 888-555-1212 calls.  Now both have been blocked!

ID says: "Citizens Comm".....  Caller ignored the screener's warning, and said / did nothing as instructed by call blocker. Call, say nothing, ignore the screener's warning, and you get blocked! All scammers and unknown, unspeaking callers get blocked forever! Good riddance!

"We're trying to reach the homeowner.  Are you the homeowner?"  I responded, "I rent" and the caller disconnected.  Maybe they'll take me off their list and I won't have to block a whole succession of spoofed telephone numbers.

Called Friday, 6/17/16 at 12:42 pm PDT.  Caller ID showed "Unknown Name".  Did not answer; no message left.

This is a scammer!! It's a fake number. Spoofed because there are no real 555 numbers. your area code +1212 use to be the number for time in many cities. Don't fall for this, block them with anything you can. Call Blockers, YouMail, Robocall or what have you.

They called again this morning at 10:41 AM PDT. I will call the police.

I am getting so sick and tired of answering the phone and it is either a telemarketer, or it doesn't answer, or you get a busy signal or if you call the number back it tells you that this number is "no longer in service" well if its no longer in service how the hell do they call your number.
enough is enough, the State, County, City, Feds need to stop this crap.. enrolling in the Do-Not-Call list is a bunch of garbage they do nothing about it, they never call you to check on further calls, etc.

Called my cell.  I didn't answer and of course there is no message.  From this thread, it looks like this has been going on for at least 7 yrs.!!!

I received this call on my cell phone twice in one minute. Than an hour later I received a call from this number on my landline. Fortunately, they are very easy to block on both phones.

An obvious robocall from this obviously spoofed (i.e. non-existent) number arrived today.  When the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message.  This is typical of robocallers who use automated dialers to place calls in a relentless search for gullible victims.

According to www.whitepages.com this number is associated with Nathan Aron Kiskila MD.  The number is also described as "suspected spam" with many complaints logged on that site as well as this one.  Spammers are almost always scammers.

DO NOT BECOME A VICTIM.  DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.

This number was used as a long distance 411 before cell phones ever existed. It appears that it's a robot phishing for legit phone numbers so they can sell to telemarketers. Don't even answer the phone

888-555-1212 never is a  real number. Did you see  whenever there is a phone number showing in a movie or tv show, the number is always 555-xxxx!
