Rude company stating my account has been compromised

I've Been dealing with these scammers for 5 months now, I defaulted on my student loans so I got my parents to write a check to pay it before my credit got ruined. I mailed the check 2 months ago and it has been cashed or deposited! Yet I'm still getting calls everyday to pay it so I did some research to see where the check was deposited and by whom. IT CAME UP AS THEIR COMPANY!!! My credit is shot! A lawsuit is in progress now! These people are annoying thieving rude sons of [***] that take turning ur life upside down litely! Well, they messed with the wrong person because I can be just like them! I will shut them down!

You need to take action and file complaints with the CFPB and FTC, along with other agency's.  The information on who cashed that check could be very valuable to you also along with the above agency's.

Receiving calls and Voicemails from this number for a person I do not know. Called company back to let them know. Man who answered  was incredibly rude and refused to remove my phone number saying it is not in their system. Then hung up on me.

They have called my Ex husband and son and I have no idea what this is about. As far as I know I do not owe anyone any money. These people are creeping me out. I do not know what they want. Do you know who I can call and report them?

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time,date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

These people call me and change their caller ID to Verizon. They have only called me once. I asked for them to mail a statement to me on what they say I owe. I have never received it. On top of this, they reported this to my credit after the one call......This is for an apartment that I cosigned for and the apartment complex never contacted me about payment. I assumed that the person living there paid the rent. How was I to know all this?

I left a message earlier, but I forgot to include that they were pretending to be OSHA or is that someone's name?

yeah hi excuse me I did not borrow any money from anyone. and these people are calling me saying I owe 4000 to an apartment complex I lived in. I can assure you that I do not owe them 4000 dollars. and all these comments are saying that these people are a scam. and they have reported it to my credit so Im not sure what do to.

They called me and left no message.  It looks from this thread that they are a debt collection agency.  I'm not aware of owing any debts, so I have no idea why they would call me.

Thus number has called my phone on several different occasions but has never left any voice message when system answered there call.
If they are a debit company  they are barking up the wrong tree.

Called my cell phone looking for (I assume) the previous owner of this number.  Called to ask not to call me again, they were rude.  If they call again is there someway I can report them?

This number appeared in a pop-up advising me that my PC was about to crash.  I was advised not to close my browser or shut off my computer or terrible things would happen and data would be lost.  Instead "call this 888 676 4074 number".   I closed my browser, shut off my computer and - shocker - nothing happened.

Wrong. Debt collectors are NOT middle men. They purchase the debt at pennies on the dollar then turn around like sharks and threaten, intimidate etc the debtor. Learn how things actually work. Paying a debt is not a moral obligation,  it is a financial obligation.

They can be both, since companies hire them to collect debts, or junk debt buyers hire them to collect debts, then they are basically the middle man. Or if they are the junk debt buyer, then they are collecting for themselves. I'm wondering why you are getting so worked up about a post from 2009 though.

No it isn't. They are allowed to call until told not to do so.
