I have benn contacted by national finacial advisors last week and was given the weekend to look them over.  I looked all the info that everyone else looked at and did a reverse address search on these people.  I found that the zip code they give is bad and the address they give has no mention of a suite 200 or any company National Finacial Advisors.  This is total crap.

After receiving phone calls and faxes I called the Nevada Better Business Bureau --the lady I talked to chuckled when I gave her the name of the company (Nat'l Financial Advisors) --she then told me word for word what the grant writer said to me ==== next she told me they are not licensed outside of So. Nevada and that since I am in PA. she said stay that far away from them.--they are real bad news. my local newspaper has reported on them and said a real grant company can be obtained at www.grants.gov===this is a link to government grants that are real!!!

I received a call from Frank Powers at National Financial Advisors Inc.  I am a mortgage broker in Texas. Apparently they are very good at finding desparate people as almost everyone is in the mortgage industry. They have quite a polished spiel. I was ready to send them $2500. because they convinced me they could get a 200K grant for me to reduce corporate debt and expansion.  Thank God I found this site before I sent the funds. I did however fax them a check which they were anxious to pick up.  I also turned them in to the Texas State Attorney General's Office for fraud.  They use Fed Ex to avoid federal charges of mail fraud.

Well i was one of the people who actually paid for their services!
I hope my experience can shed some light on this discussion board.
The person i dealt with most was Thomas,he was very informative and professional and never pushed me for money. And i have to say so far the company has impressed me. Although i havent received any funding yet, the website they developed for me was nice and finished in a timely manner.And i have been kept up to speed on the whole process.
I am still in the documentation stage and have high hopes! No matter the turnout i will post here to share my experience.

okay.. I was gullible enough to send in my money $1995 back in August.  Here what has happened so far.... I heard nothing for several weeks, so I called to find out what was up.  I was then sent a Welcome Packet, which had a form for me to fill out and asked for copies of alot of documents, including past tax returns, bank statements, etc.   I called to ask WHY they need so much confidential information... was told it was information they needed to write my Business plan.  I sent everythin in...nothing for a month, called again...was sent a DIFFERENT form to complete (this one is for the website).  Completed that form which was to be used as a guide to create the website.  The website was set up word for word from what I sent in. (cprwraps.net)  The site is extremely basic I could have created it myself.  Six weeks goes by still no business plan... I called again.   This time I was sent ANOTHER questionaire showing me how to write a business plan.   It basically walks you thru writing the business plan yourself... so they can copy it word for word and say THEY DID A BUSINESS PLAN !!!  I am not a writer, which is why I sent my money in to begin with... I figured if nothing else the $1995 pays for a website and business plan better than I could do myself!   Little did I know the quality of the site is so basic I could have done it... and the business plan I am actually writing myself..

BOTTOM LINE:  DON'T DO IT.... THEY ARE A RIP OFF !!!!!

I am small business owner in California.I am a currently seeking funding with the help of NATional Financial Advisors.Looks to me a lot of mis-information going around.I paid 25 hundred dollars to them and i knew from the start the money is not guaranteed. They Told ME that!!
i understood they are helping me do the work i dont have time to do myself.
If you dont apply you wont get anything!!!
Do it if it works for you!! if not dont do it!!
Dont slander a company and your not even a customer w/experience w/ them!!

Otis College of Art and Design is one of 15 art institutions awarded a $130,000 grant from The Getty Foundation to participate in the largest collaborative project undertaken by museums in the region.

Otis’ project, A Public Center of One’s Own: The Woman’s Building’s Contribution to the Arts in Los Angeles is part of the Getty Foundation’s larger initiative, Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945-1980 which highlights the post-World War II Los Angeles art scene. The Woman’s Building was recognized as a major site of activity especially during the 1970s and forms a significant role in the history of feminist art and art history.

Research for A Public Center of One’s Own will begin in 2009 and will culminate in a scholarly exhibit and catalogue in 2012. Roundtable discussions will be organized between scholars and artists who were involved with the Woman's Building; a timeline of Woman's Building activities will be created along with a list of artists involved; and Otis faculty will assist in developing educational programs to connect to the exhibition. “The Getty Foundation has recognized the rich tapestry of cultural influences that make up the art of Southern California,” says Terry Wolverton, author of Insurgent Muse: Life and Art at the Woman's Building . “The breadth and scope of this project will ensure that a complete history of the art of this region is presented and preserved.” Leading the project are artists Sue Maberry, Director of Library and Instructional Technology at Otis and Meg Linton, Director of Otis’ Ben Maltz Gallery and Public Programs. They will work closely with scholars Vivien Green Fryd, Ph.D., Alexandra Juhasz, Ph.D., Jennie Klein, Ph.D., Michelle Moravec, Ph.D., and Jennifer Sorkin, Ph.D. in designing an exhibition about the role of the Woman’s Building and the feminist art movement of Southern California.

“A Public Center of One’s Own will highlight the participants, contributions, and works of art that contributed to the formation of feminist art history, something that needs to be considered in the broader scheme of western art history,” says Fryd. “Too frequently, approaches are taken that privilege New York, but, the movement in Los Angeles was quite different and equally influential,” adds Moravec. Also participating in the project are Sondra Hale and Terry Wolverton, who are current members of the Woman’s Building Board of Directors and co-editors of From Site to Vision: The Woman’s Building in Contemporary Culture ; and Otis professors Meg Cranston, Marlena Donohue, Parme Giuntini, Suzanne Lacy, Kali Nikitas, and Kerri Steinberg.

“There has never been an exhibition or scholarly exhibition catalogue that has fully explored all the contributions of The Woman’s Building to art history,” says Maberry, who was involved in the Woman’s Building as a Program Director. Artist Suzanne Lacy echoes the significance of the project, “As critical as the WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution exhibition, curated by Connie Butler has been in the recent recognition of a completely under-explored era in art history, this exhibition proposed by Otis will be even more central in revealing the radical political and pedagogical impulses of this important art movement.”

FRAMINGHAM —

Advocates Inc. has been awarded a three-year, $1.2 million federal grant for a program to provide expanded prevention, screening and treatment services for older adults dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse.

The new Elder Community Care (ECC) program will improve access to mental health and substance abuse services for older adults living in 14 communities in MetroWest, said William J. Taylor, president and CEO of Advocates.

The award was announced this week by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a public health agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency is responsible for improving the accountability, capacity and effectiveness of the nation's substance abuse prevention, addictions treatment, and mental health services delivery system, according to a press release from Advocates.

The Advocates award was one of 10 grants totaling over $12 million over three years made through the Older Adults Targeted Capacity Expansion Grant Program to help communities meet the special mental health needs of older adults. It was the only grant awarded in New England.

Taylor said Advocates will work in collaboration with Bay Path Elder Services, Samaritans, Boston College, and Advocates for Human Potential in establishing the Elder Community Care program, which will work to increase access and remove barriers to care, and to provide evidence-based treatment to elders who are not currently connected to behavioral health assessment and treatment services. Services and programs will be tailored for seniors who are at risk for, or are experiencing, mental health and/or substance abuse problems, he said.

According to Taylor, this is Advocates' first grant from the federal agency.

HUNTINGTON — Huntington’s Ebenezer Medical Outreach, Inc., was awarded a $25,000 grant from the American Medical Association Foundation’s Healthy Communities/Healthy America program.

The program honors clinics across the country that provide free or low-cost medical care to the uninsured and underinsured. Ebenezer Medical Outreach was one of 16 free clinics that received the distinction this year.

Ebenezer Medical Outreach was given the grant to implement an exercise program for diabetic patients. Called Healthy Lifestyles, Healthy Life, the program is a chronic disease management program serving diabetic patients. The patients attend six weeks of educational classes to learn about their disease. After completing the classes, each patient takes a test to determine what level of exercise they can begin. Every six weeks, the patient will be re-evaluated and new goals will be set.

Ebenezer Medical Outreach started in 1986 as an outreach of Ebenezer Methodist Church. It has evolved into a health care organization that provides services to uninsured residents in the Tri-State. These services include full-time primary and specialty care, prescription assistance, dental care, chronic disease management and outreach education.

Andrew Olshan, Ph.D., professor and chair of the epidemiology department in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, has been awarded a grant worth nearly $2.9 million from the National Cancer Institute to study the causes of neuroblastoma.

Olshan is also the leader of the cancer epidemiology program of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and research professor of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery in the UNC School of Medicine.

The most common cancer in babies, neuroblastoma develops from nerve cells found in several areas of the body and most commonly affects children aged 5 or younger.

The five-year study will investigate the disease’s causes, with a focus on mothers’ diets and supplemental vitamin intake during pregnancy. Previous studies have suggested that vitamin use may reduce the risk of this cancer by 40 percent. The new research will also examine genetic factors in parents and children that may influence vitamin metabolism and risk of cancer.  Study participants will include neuroblastoma patients diagnosed at hospitals participating in the Children’s Oncology Group, a North American pediatric clinical trials group.

Olshan’s co-investigators in the public health school include Anna Maria Siega-Riz, Ph.D., associate professor in the departments of epidemiology and nutrition, and Fei Zou, Ph.D., associate professor of biostatistics.

"The concept of a technology/nature balance, in which Charles and Anne Lindbergh so firmly believed, is now coming to the forefront as the answer to some of our global problems," said Clare Hallward, Chairman of the Lindbergh Foundation Grants Selection Committee. "The projects of our grant recipients have, since 1978, made significant contributions to such a balance. Because of the standards employed by the Foundation's grants program, it has earned international credibility which enables many Lindbergh Grant recipients to secure additional funding to continue their important work."

The value of the Lindbergh Grants program as a provider of seed money and credibility for pilot projects that subsequently receive larger sums from other sources to continue and expand the work has again been confirmed.

Each year, The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation solicits applications for Lindbergh Grants from the U.S. and abroad. This list includes publications, government agencies, media, universities, and other non-profit organizations. Between 150 and 200 formal grant applications are received each year.

Who cares who owns the domain of their website? That can change at anytime for any reason!

I have contacted the state as well as consumer affairs and was told by both agencies that they are in "Good Standing" and the BBB has not published 1 single complaint in 3 years. Surely if they were doing something wrong someone would have complained through a legitimate channel!!

I'd like these jerks to go away permanently. I have asked them over a dozen times to stop calling my business. They usually just hang up on me.

I don't believe they are legit, and if they are, they should be ashamed of their tactics. In Colorado, if a false number shows on caller ID, that is an ILLEGAL SOLICITATION.

They are lawbreaking jerks, and if I met anyone associated with that company, I would likely punch them in the nose just to vent my frustration.
