- SunshineGirlRainyCityCalled and left a voicemail on my direct office line looking for James Hudson and attempting to alert him that his credit card cannot be used. They left a number to call and a case number to reference. I am not James Hudson and my direct office line has been assigned to me for about three years now, so there's no way anyone legitimate was using my number for a credit card. I deleted the message, and if they call back will tell them they have the wrong number.

- J. A. R.| 1 replyI thought this was surely a call from a scammer, so instead of calling this number back, I called the number listed on my credit union's website. Lo and behold, they were indeed trying to call me about my card. If you're leery as I was, just do the same to be on the safe side. But yeah, turns out it's legit.

- CWG40 replies to J. A. R.This is a scam and you're part of it. Just another 800 series scam. Targeting the customers of large scale financial institutions. The large number of shill posts simply confirms the fact that it is a scam. The number may be legitimate in itself, but you people are simply spoofing it.
As I say, this is a scam and you're part of it. - CWG40| 4 repliesThe large number of shillers basically posting to tell everyone how "legit" this number is, is pretty strong evidence of a scam.
This number is most likely part of a larger fraud campaign targeting the customers of large-scale financial or commercial institutions.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real, is evidence of con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.
About 296 entries in this thread and I count 157 as shill posts.
At a 56 % shill rate, there should be no question that this is part of a scam. At least that's the way I see it based on my own research. I've seen percentages go even higher.
This scam is well documented. Simply google it out. Based on my research this scam has been going on since about 2008.
These type of calls follow a similar pattern. They all claim to be from groups like Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Fifth Third Bank, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc as well as Credit Unions. Or claim to be CC processors. Or “Fraud Detection”.
All with the same type of postings. All claiming there is something wrong with your card or that some questionable purchase has been made. Or something similar. They all ask for personal or personal financial information.
Just part of the shillers criminal MO.
I've noticed the shill posters often use the same turns of phrase. Same old, same old verbiage telling everyone how "legit" the calls are.
Personally I think the group or groups posting this shillage-spillage are located in either the US or Canada, or perhaps both. They may also be working with scammers outside of North America.
In any event , never give out any personal or financial information to anyone who cold calls you. If there are any problems with your card, always call the number on the back of the card or the official number on the monthly statement you receive.
Call history on 800notes for this type of scam, so far. (That I’ve been able to find.)

Now watch.
Just after I post this entry, at least three more shillers will each post an entry showing how "legitimate" this number is. Or maybe one shiller impersonating two others. Watch for the similarity in language.

- MeMe replies to CWG40| 2 repliesI am replying to CWG40 post. My boss just got a call from this number and I relayed the message to him as he is out of the office. Told him I wasn't sure if the message was legit or a scam and he responded "Not a scam". Just to let you know I am not a shiller. I do know what that means. You have a great day!!!
- Slim replies to MeMeYou may not be a shill, but you seem to be comprehension challenged
Even though the number in this thread might belong to your boss's card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get precious ID and card data!

Please reply to this post, on 800notes.com, to let us know you read it, or have taken suitable actions to protect yourself. - Iguessimashill replies to CWG40The number 8889187313 is listed on my credit union's website (if they're listing a scam # on their site, I should really switch banks). While it can be spoofed (people should never give info over the phone, instead call your credit union directly), the call/voicemail I received said they were "Falcon Fraud". I called the # back just to see if it was consistent, and I got Falcon Fraud. I called my bank using the # on the back of my card, and he confirmed they use Falcon Fraud for fraud detection. There was in fact a fraudulent charge on my account (I even saw it in my banking app), and I had my credit union clear it up without involving Falcon.
While I'm sure there are "shills" that troll websites like this, don't you think it's irresponsible to dismiss anyone who doesn't 100% agree with you as a "shill"? - DP replies to bETTY smithbKETTY smith is right. For first time ever I got hit on my debit card, 3 charges of $50 and 2 for $125 at two different Walmarts. Gave case # and man said they will send me a new card. Week later, I haven't received anything. I called my credit union and woman verified company Falcon as their debit card monitoring company, and she sent me an affidavit so they can refund my $400.00 Don't know why I didn't get one after the initial call though.
- Noneofya Business| 1 replyNot sure if this company is legitimate. They say they are working with the local credit union I belong to, but that seems rather suspicious. Folks, make sure to check with your bank first.
- Caller: "800 Service"
- CWG40 replies to MeMeActually you are a shill. Interesting one though. Sound like someone in a job where you'd have access to numbers that could be used by scammers. Just one more piece in the puzzle necessary to find the persons behind this scam. You haven't fooled me. That's for damn sure.
- CWG40 replies to Noneofya BusinessCall the number on the card. Or the number on your official correspondence from your bank.
- Don H| 1 replyI received a call from this number and it totally sounded non legit as the person had a hard time pronouncing my name. They then again asked my name. I immediately hung up and did some research. After I was convinced that they were legit, I called them back and sure enough.. They were calling on behalf of my Credit Union regarding some purchases on my CC. They verified some purchases and unlocked my card.
- Caller: Falcon Security
- Call type: Valid
- Tygerkat replies to Don HWhy did you call them back? You should have just called your credit union or the card issuer using the number on the back of the card in question.
- Armitage IIII did not answer this 888 number but googled and found mixed results here in this page. I called my bank directly and turns out it was a legit call from Falcon. I made a purchase from an out of state vendor at a concert and that sent a notice to security. I always recommend calling your bank directly and being safe, but they connected me in a threeway call with Falcon to confirm my purchase. So.. yeah not a scam.
- Caller: Falcon
- Call type: Valid

- Kat replies to fraud avertedAs has been pointed out MANY times in this thread, this may or may not be a legitmate number but because phone numbers are easily spoofed, it is wise to NEVER take such a call at face value. What may be "valid" for you may not be for the next person receiving a call from this number. NEVER give a caller personal information. ALWAYS hang up and contact your financial institution directly.
- Consumer| 1 replyLeft voice mail saying they put my credit card on protective hold. I didn't return the call, but I call the bank directly instead. The bank confirmed this was legitimate.
- Allwaze SuspiciousReceived a call from this number and did not answer. Checked online and saw this website. Called the credit union twice, just to be sure and I used 2 different numbers to do this. They acknowledged it was from a private security company called Falcon which monitors for suspicious cc activity. Called the number 888-918-7313 and found out someone tried to use it in another state.
- Caller: Falcon
