So if you know to whom the number belongs and that the call was legitimate, why did you come to a phone number look-up site? Do you often look up known numbers?

    ADVISORY

    Readers:
    Be Safe, Not Sorry
Rather than believe the posts in this thread, or the words of an anonymous caller,
if you are notified of a problem with your bank or credit union,

CALL THE NUMBER ON YOUR BANK OR CU STATEMENT

Even though the number in this thread might belong to your bank or credit union, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and financial data!

    https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/spoofing-and-caller-id

Read the above again, for understanding!

    Be Safe, Not Sorry!

YOU  CALL THE NUMBER ON  YOUR BANK OR CU STATEMENT

Now, let us see how many posts are made after this one, that ignore the advisory and try to claim that, just because their call was or was not "legitimate", yours must be too.

Not a scam on this end. It was Visa calling on behalf of my credit union doing a security check on suspicious activity on my credit card. They wanted to ask me some questions about my charges. Did not ask for any account numbers, social security number or other personal info. Since they could not reach me the 1st time they closed my account & issued another credit card.  I called my credit union direct & was told it was a legit call. I will answer if they call again but only answer questions about activity. Better yet you can call your credit union or bank direct.

Keep in mind, just because a number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

So you know who called you but you came to a phone number look-up site anyway? Why? Do you often look up known phone numbers?

I am definitely not a bot or a shill. I got a call and message from the 888-918-7313 and it is a legitimate company. I called my credit union and they confirmed the call was concerning a charge to my debit card which was a legitimate charge. I was on a daytrip to Chicago and they were checking on a charge for a restaurant we ate at. Not saying that scammers couldnt hack that number, but in my particular instance, they were legit which was confirmed by my credit union.  I would say, always call the CU to confirm any calls, that way there is no questions about it

I'll ask you what I asked Niteowlz. If you know to whom the number belongs, why did you look it up?

I received a call from this number and they announced fraudulent activity on my debit card, stated my name and bank name.  I called them back with the case number they gave me and sure enough, there were fraudulent charges on my card.  I didn't have to give anything to them on the call except the case number and my phone number.  I checked my bank account and they told me the same things I saw that were fraud on my account.  It's definitely legit!

Legit number. I called my bank in reference to this and they actually transferred me back to the card services to resolve the issue.

Yeah, we already know the number belongs to FirstLight Federal Credit Union, but its no comfort to people who get calls from some scammer spoofing this number, pretending to be them and phish for information.

Scammers target these types of businesses because they ask a lot of information to verify who you are, so be careful not to rush into giving info. Tell them you will call right back because scammers are spoofing their number.

This is a 3rd party company hired by some financial institutions.  Not a scam in my case.

With a 56% shill rate (see my entry of 27 Aug 2017), it's pretty obvious that this is a scam.
    _______________
The shillers simply don't stop, even when the number has been repeatedly shown to be a scam.

They just keep on piling up the shill postings, which do nothing but show the same level of shill posting relative to the total number of entries.

The math alone shows them to be scammers and shillers and that the number is basically fraudulent.  Or used for fraudulent purposes.

So far as I know the 888-918-7313 number is not posted on any site dealing with credit card fraud.  It is refereed to often as a call-back number.  Supposedly for something called Falcon.

If this number is connected to Falcon, how about someone posting the reference so we can all look it up?
