My friend applied in Jan/08. Was really excited and they said she was great. helped stage 2 houses so far, for nothing. Supposedly has to do 3 more. It is now what.... end of aug? * months have passed. I'll let you know what happensbut I think they are B. S.'n her. Will keep you posted. Glad to here from anyone else who deals with them. I am a student in the Haverhill course and I've completed my assignments, did my time in the in class and has done some field training with Jacqueline. I understand that it's a process that has to be done and after spending some time on the phone with Haverhill, I now realize that it's a rapidly growing company that is seriously trying to meet its demands! All these people who are calling this program a Scam, I'd have to disagree. After speaking with Jacqueline on one of our training days she also informed me that she found the course overwhelming with being on Maternity with 3 children, she also said that she had to wait some time but she waited and now is enjoying her employment.  I just feel that, if I was seeking employment with another company that was offering such a great opportunity, I couldn’t see myself or any one for that matter calling the company and creating “not so nice” forms, after all we are seeking employment with them!  I think I’m going to wait it out, I’m almost at the end, why give up now?! See you too at the finish line!

I called these people to get more info a few months ago...and i was called backed for the next couple weeks (once a week on average to see if i would enroll)...I was planning to join next year...What concerns me after reading this board is $1000 is too much to pay a company who does not have the time to return trainee phone calls.

I think that people by nature are non-committal especially once novelty wears off...It is so true that people will be all gung-ho in January to join a gym for a few hundred dollars in the name of getting healthy...but after a few months (if even that long) they fall off the wagon completely and usually don't get back on until maybe the next January. So knowing this is our nature...if we as humans for the most part would not think improving our health is worth a few hundred dollars a year, along with hard work and dedication, would most of us truly spend a $1000, work hard, and stay dedicated in order to secure a successful career?????  

If you look on the Haver Hills website you can ask for a copy of the employment contract. I don't necessarily think they are trying to hide anything but what I would like them to do is be more thorough and concise on their site about their expectations for us as trainees so that no one can say "i didn't know...." or "had I known, I would have never...."  While full disclosure may decrease enrollment, it will weed out a lot of slackers/nay doers and prevent some of the comments on this website. Hopefully Haver Hills will take this under advisement to improve their image in future.

Still looking for ANYONE who completed course and is now happily employed by Haverkill making money-ANYONE?

I too was interested in joining the Haverhill Staging School and following up with full-time employment, but now have grave concerns after reading the various posts.  I checked the Better Business Bureau and they've received one complaint in the last 3 years and it went unresolved.  Check it out yourself at http://www.ccbbb.ca/ then click on Investigate a Company or Charity, and type in Haverhill Staging.  I would highly suggest anyone on here with legitimate complaints to report them to the BBB.  It doesn't cost anything and they are obligated to investigate.

I know these message boards are only meant for bashing companies (and any dissenters are deemed to be employees of the bashed company) but I too will wait out my outcome. I'd rather be a part of a growing business that is dominating the home staging scene at least here in Canada and so what for some growing pains. I'm American and it doesnt surprise me how canadians cant wait to bash someone for realizing some success. Not all canadians but the select few I've noticed here.

This in particular gives me a lot of comfort so that's my two cents.

The person I know started it in January-REBA-yes, Jan. She was [***] around so much, never had calls returned cause they are oh so busy that she is still waiting. As i see it the first week of Sept. has gone by. She handed in her work, did 2 or 3 stages which they said was 'just fabulous". Keep saying they will call back. As she is rather a trusting soul she believes them. She really wants this and doesn't want to make waves. I keep telling her they are screwing her around. Still waiting for anyone who completed course and is successfully employed to answer this and tell me what a great job they have....anyone? I think not. My friend is growing old as we speak....no exaggeration here-REBA!

If you want to check out staging training check out teh Real Estate Staging Association. Looks like they are the trade organization for stagers.

i was doing some poking around and i guess they were short instructors. anyone not receiving marks within 2 weeks will get their money back.

They don't have to guarantee everyone a job.  Their web site says, "To be considered for Employment, candidates must: ...successfully complete a personal interview assessment."  This means that even if you graduate, they can tell you that you did not "successfully" complete their personal interview assessment.  That's their loophole.

Oh Tina... Now i get it. The ever so tiny loophole.   Interesting!

Last Saturday I read any article in the Financial Post about Haverhill's antics. But there seems to be more to this than meets the eye.

Haverhill claims to guarantee employment to students who graduate from its staging course. A look at the terms and conditions listed on the company’s website shows that graduating is a lot tougher than a would-be home stager might expect.

1 .The lessons have to be completed in a tight timeframe: a student has only two months to complete each segment of the course. Haverhill tells you to “work at your own pace.”

2 .Students have to find and stage two houses on their own, and people have stated they were required to stage up to five.

3 .Students have to receive a grade of 75% on their final exam.
If you somehow manage to jump through these hoops, you should graduate from the course. But, you can still be declined employment if you don’t do well in Haverhill’s interview. If you fail the interview, a guarantee kicks in.

In Google advertisements, for instance, Haverhill claims
“Certificate & Guaranteed Employment Fully refundable course fee.”
“Guaranteed Job placement. No Risk fully refundable Course Fee”

But the reality is different. Haverhill states in the fine print of its terms of service that it will not refund your entire payment as, “fully refundable course fee,” would imply. It keeps $250 as a processing fee. The Ontario PCC Act allows for non-refundable deposits of up to 20% under certain circumstances ($250 is 26%), but the federal Competition Act does not allow for misleading advertising at all.

Haverhill will allow you to withdraw from the course within seven days, but will keep $250 of your money. Ontario law allows for a complete refund within a 10-day cooling-off period, so Haverhill is in violation of the Ontario Consumer Protection Act.

Potential Haverhill students would be well advised to make inquiries about their employment prospects before they register for the course!
