I’m just a normal person who was cheated and wants to help other from the same fait


Is Haverhill a SCAM..YES YES YES…
I have like the many of you, saw their commercials on tv and wondered wow that sounds like a great opportunity for me to work in, and to much too my dismay I signed up for the program back in May, when even at the time I felt very sceptical and weary of this company. At the time the only answers that I was given about employment and how this new innovative way of work was going to commence were very vague and confusing, but against my better judgment I signed up anyway and not listing to my inner voice telling me to run…..  

Well I received my course material and was off, excited to begin a new career in staging and design, who was I kidding, that would never come to fruition. So I staged and design several friends homes and completed all of my course requirements and handed them in on time, only to learn that the rules have changed several times since signing up, there was no longer a segment of the program that one would be working with accredited stagers as a internship to learn hands on skills, that is when the red flags really started to raise.  After handing in all of my assignments, I waited months before any of them got marked and then even more weeks before I could take part in a tele class,  oh yes that was changed as well,  I’m sure to keep all of us students from each other and that way we could not form a coalition and demand our marks and commute our frustrations among each other.
Then there was the TEST…. oh yes,  the test that everyone seams to have failed or not had enough time to finish, now I am not a fool by any means I think by now that is quite obvious , so I found it completely un comprehendible that I was not able to finish this exam in the time allotted, and those questions,  well that is something to be desired, now looking back I can find them quite humours especially the one that seams to be just plucked out of the text book and we had to fill in the blanks, well now that I setting someone up for failure if you ask me.

And now after all of this hard work NOTHING, absolutely nothing has come of it. What a waste of time , and I’m sure that many of you feel the same way I do, its not only the $1200 fee for the course, it is the fact that they connived us all into believing that we would be employed after the training was complete. That was never part of their plan at all.  They are a company in the business of collecting tuition fees, not a staging company at all , and if they even have staging jobs I wouldn’t think that they are not at  the top of their piers in their respected field. In regards to ASP, CPS, RESA

So now this is what has been done in the process to vindicated all who have lost and protect those who may have lost in the future…..

Litigation lawyers and attorneys that are experts with consumers rights laws have been briefed on this case and have agreed to work pro bono (free) with the expectations that we will win a class action suit against them, and Haverhill Staging and Design Institute will be forced to out of business and pay back restitution to thousands that have been defrauded by them.

The RCMP has been notified of this companies business practices here in Canada and their respected counterparts in the US as well (FBI). To investigate the legitimacy of this company and their claims of employment. And if so any wrong doing on their part of falsifying marks to not allow students to pass with the grades that they deserve. And resulting in non-employable status

Also the Commissioner and Chair of the CRTC has been notified of their ads and commercials in regulations with the CRTC regulation act:   Act: Broadcasting Act, 1991, c.11, s.1 in regards to their commercials on HGTV in associations  with CW Media Inc will be notified of their commercials and we appeal to them to suspend all ads immediately.  As Haverhill preys on consumers that are inherently loyal to the brand of HGTV station and its shows and only demand the highest qualities of commercials and stock being sold on their channel, and also Haverhill being a major sponsor of many of their shows and programming time slots.

And the same has been done once again in the US where claims are being sent to the FCC  in regards to Haverhill Staging and Design. Also in the US where the ads and commercials are being broadcast on the Fox  Network and all of its affiliates and the Fox network as Fox Entertainment Network and owned and operated by News Corporation, one of the US largest media conglomerates, this network is also being advised to suspend all ads and endorsements  from Haverhill.

Kimberly Uksik, the face that may of us know behind this whole thing, is the national creative director for Haverhill and the instructor of the course, but I don’t recall many teachings by her, other then her reading from a sheet during the tele class , and even at that, she was unable to perform. It’s a shame that she had to get caught up in this scam, and completely ruin here career in the process. We appeal to all staging and design professionals  that she be stripped of all credentials in staging, and Associations will be recommended to take back accreditations and awards given to her. APS, RESA CPA ect.  She is the one that most of us have been talking to, or lack there of, never seaming to be available to answer a phone call.

Valerie  Gibson sits on the Board of Advisors for Haverhill, which I found completely shocking to me, Valerie  is a well respected media personality and has been a columnist for the Toronto Sun for years is, and that is why I found it completely shocking and appalling that she was involved in this sham as well, her email is  valeriegibson@rogers.com.

Mike Bullard is the host of HouseCapades which is the show in the US where they launch a lot of their bogus ads and promises from, to lure people into signing up for this course. And it is quite convenient that Darren Morgenstern’s brother Marc is one of the producers and creative director of the show….the dots are all seaming to connect now, so here is their info and contact numbers as well. And both show and Haverhill  are located in the same office. Coincidence, I think not.

Haverhill is owned by the same company that owns Ashley Madisson the adult affair dating site. Everything about this company is dirty. Darren Morgenstern opened both then handed off control to another firm. They now own both Asley Maddison and Haverhill Home Staging

I have gone through the Haverhill course...passed my test and received very high scores on my assignments...I applied in December of 09 but it has been well over a month since I have heard anything...I'm worried that this company is not going to follow through with their end.  Can you please enlighten me on your experience.

Haverhill stagers are not taken seriously in the staging community.  Sadly, that course is a scam and a joke.  

Do the research, Darren Morgenstern, the mastermind had a "Couples Swaping" sex website.  Why on earth would you want to be associated with any thing that man has been involved with.

I have Haverhill grads and non-grads call me several times a month in tears because they can't find work, and ask me if they can stage one of my houses with my inventory so they can turn it in as their homework, or show it in their portfolio.

This is a matter of ethics, if you can't find your own houses to stage you shouldn't be in this business.  

No one but yourself can get you going, you're on your on.  Sure they(staging companies) will hype you up, but none of them will provide real leads.  That's part of what a home stager has to learn to do on their own.

It's sad you all were scammed, but if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.  I would really try to take legal action and get my money back, you all have a valid case.

Can I tell you mine?  I signed up this past August.  Did all the requirements as the course required.  Have just finished the test.  I did not pass.  They make it next to impossible to be able to pass.  Some may say that I must not be good enough, talented enough.  I studied Interior Design at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.  I do beautiful work for my clients who are very happy with my work.  However I wanted a certificate in home staging to expand my repertoir. I got 8's,9's, 10's out of 10.  To pass the test however you would need to memorize the books word for word.  You can eventually look them up in the books but you will run out of time before you finish.  All they have to do is mark your grades low enough and Haverhill is free of their obligation to honor their guarantee.  Just google haverhill scam and you will find a slew of unhappy students who have had their money ripped off.  If you want a certificate in home staging, , go with a program like Barb Schwarz who is accredited, backed by the BBB and belongs to all the necessary organizations.  Barb's name is untarnished.  I'm embarrassed to tell anyone my certificate is from Haverhill.  As far as I'm concerned, I need to start over and my certificate is as good as garbage.

I was a Haverhill student and just got my accreditation. I was initially sent a letter saying that Haverhill has a special offer for August 2009, which stated that the students don't have do get 80% to pass. All they need to do is get 51% on all the projects and online test combined to get guaranteed employment or money back. I got more than 51% on my 7 projects and still took the test, eventhough based on what was promised, I was guaranteed an interview. well, the online test was ridiculous. everything u said was true. It was set to make the students fail.
I was still expecting an interview, since I got way more than 51%. instead,I got a congratulatory message from them saying I'd receive my certificate sometime this year(bulletin board says they're having trouble printing them on time), but my employment status says "ineligible".
That's when I really got suspicious and found the messages posted online.
I tried to call them a couple of times, left voicemails, but no answer yet. Since I didn't get hired by them, I atleast wanted to see if I was going to get my money back as promised.
Please keep me posted on what happens. If I was really scammed, I want to know what's being done to stop them and help us get a refund.

I asked my tradesmen and the people that let me stage their houses if they got any calls from Haverhill for credential verification, they said they never did. that's 9% of my score that I never got.

I just took the test and being an architectural designer and having studied all the basics of design, I thought the test would be a piece of cake. well, the questions were absolutely ridiculous and I timed out halfway.

Do u get paid to say this?
passing the test might not be impossible for a nerd who memorizes the book word by word, without having to understand a thing about home-staging.

I wished I saw this information before I signed on with Haverhill. I was hounded by these folks after contacting them from seeing the ad on HGTV. I got called one right after the other. I was currently in class for my real estate license and wanted to finish with that first. I was told about a deal where I can get as low as a 50 and still get hired so I signed up. First, I didn't know everything and asked that I get delayed one month. By the time I finished with all my state exams, I was ready and found that I lost one month because I was on the "clock" and had to have finished assignments 1-7 with just a few weeks to go. I was livid and let Haverhill know this. Then when submitting payment via credit card, I found that my credit card had additional charges for foreign exchange that no one told me about. I got my date moved and with a lot of hard work staged three different homes and got four trades persons. My family and friends thought i would have gotten the highest marks and I didn't. I got a 7 out of 10 because I took a picture of one of the homes I staged from a different angle so that everything could be seen. If I kept the picture the same, you would not have seen anything. Then I took the tele-class and finished that part. I then took the test and ran out of time experiencing some technical difficulties. I elected to take the test again and this time, I finished the entire test. I was able to find the fill in the blank answers as well. The last two questions were worth like 7 to 10 points where you had to write an essay in a timed environemnet? Didn't make sense. As a licensed realtor, the main marketing edge for me was the "as seen on tv" and what was spoke about in the tele-class (Stagers Studio). Well, I found that that marketing plan doesn't exist anymore. I tried to go on the link and I called and asked and was told it no longer exists and that there is no marketing plan to replace it now.  This was the last straw and I plan on reporting haverhill to the FCC and BBB. If anyone else had a bad time, please report them to the BBB and FCC so that others can be warned. Thanks.

I will get involved to the best of my ability. I will contact the BBB and FCC since we can only communicate via the internet. I will also contact the US Postal Service since we have to mail in materials to Canada. Please, let your voice be heard and stop this insanity. They should not get any profits from innocent people.
