Newspaper ads I understand, but to have Haverhill runs ads on HGTV which is obviously watched by decorating enthusiasts is just plain wrong.  I do believe that the consumer has some obligations to checking out these companies, however, the HGTV network SHOULD NEVER have run the ads without a complete investigation into this company.  I joined with them in 2008 when living in Ontario and then shortly after moved to Quebec.  This is when they explained to me that living there was a completely different program and I had to re-apply.  I admitted that I would only be there a short time and would I be able to continue upon my return to Ontario and they indeed said yes, and, at NO COST!
hmm...let's just say I did check into them then.  NO red flags anywhere, nothing against them with the BBB.  So what could I as a consumer do.  My passion is painting and decorating and they looked complitely legitimate.  HGTV should be on the hook for this as well.  AS for newspapers...well they receive hundreds of ads each day - too many to look into every one.  But this was a full ad slot on TV, just not the same.  HGTV (which was once on 24/7 while I did my art work) is off my list of stations to watch and no longer subscribe.  If more consumers did this maybe they'd learn their lesson as well.

When a new company starts up, it's almost impossible as a consumer to trace them.  I investigated this company before joining them and found nothing.  As I mentioned before, HGTV should also be on the hook for this one!

Do you actually know this stager in Dallas.  Up here in Canada, Haverhill has taken the money of many many unsuspecting people such as myself and given nothing in return.  I will admit that their books wer "ok" and that is it.  Cetainly not worth the more than $1,000.00 I paid...Just be careful!

I contacted BBB today, and am unsure of where to go from here, has anyone seeked counsel regarding a lawsuit, also, wouldn't HGTV liable as they were advertising and accrediting them as being valid scolars in  this area of expertise., of home design.  This day and age people like this should not get away with scaming people out of monies.Pls leave all or any info about lawsuit/refunds at tina45626@hotmail.com.  Thankyou Tina

Shame on you for touting Haverhill's fraudulent ways and then having the nerve to open your own staging company after failing people... You realize that Some of us have opened our own staging companies after pushing through the Haverhill scam and attending real staging courses elsewhere.... You were like an Amway representative in the Staging world.... Karma comes around.... Hope you get to a clients house for an estimate after one of your students mouthed off about you right before that....

i can't believe this scam is still going on. yes, it is a scam. such a scam. any advertising is done because advertising is a business, a money maker. crtc and television stations don't  care really what's advertised so long as everyone makes money.

lawyers can't help. every few weeks they change the rules of the contract, and it's clearly written that the contract can change at anytime without notice or regard.

i had trouble, big trouble with them. and yes, i finally got a refund, but not without lying to the world. i had told the world the truth. but, in order to get my money back, i then had to retract and lie to the world. lie to the world that they were right and i was wrong. lie to the world that what i truthfully and honestly said was, according to them, false information. lie to the world about my sincerity in stating those untruths.

after it was all done, i thought that it would be over, but i found out, it's still going on. what makes the world a bad place? people that hurt others for no reason except some sort of personal gain, either here on earth or in their supposed heavens and ever after.

now that i have a career in broadcasting, as long as i state the truth, and can back it up, there is nothing they can do to stop me from speaking the truth. nothing they can do to scare me into lying about their company. not even a 5 million dollar lawsuit.

that's right. as a broadcaster, i have every right to tell the truth to the public. i am very familiar with the crtc regulations as well as cbsc stance on these matters. and since television and radio frequencies belong to the public, yes, they belong to you and me, not the government, nor the companies who run them, then i can say what i want, as long as it is truthful and accurate.

yes, i lied to the world and told you all what haverhill wanted me to say so they would drop the lawsuit and give me back my money.

but, i have learned so much since then. and i am not afraid of them. and yes, HAVERHILL IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!

no lawsuit, but i had to give that long winded statement which of course i made up and don't stand behind a single word i said because that was the only way they would drop their suit against me and give me a refund.

but truth be known, i was in the process of a counter suit, filed it too, but if i remember correctly, the company was up for sale.

darren and the others made their money so it was time to move on.

    as per the BBB website

"""According to information in the BBB files, it appears that the company is no longer in business. The phone numbers the BBB had for this company are disconnected, and directory assistance does not have a listing for this company. The BBB's mail to this company has been returned as undeliverable. If you have an unresolved dispute with this company you may wish to seek legal advice.

    According to the company's website:

Unfortunately, due to financial difficulties, The Haverhill Institute of Staging & Design, Inc. has ceased operations effective June 30, 2010.

Haverhill no longer maintains a website and has no employees.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.'''''''''

all i would say is just beware of that name, and always remember, if it's too good to be true, then it is.

but knowing them, they have relocated to a warmer climate, enjoying everyone else's hard earned money and are planning their next scam.

I too signed up for the Haverhill Staging course only to end up stating a bunch of nonsense as if wasn't bad enough that I could never get an answer in sufficient time so as to proceed with the course!  No helpful resources and only to be left hanging with all the material sent and then given up on you!

I will be happy to know as well about any class action lawsuit as I too would like my money back!!!  Nothing but a SCAM!!!  I WAS LEFT VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY!

    Please e-mail me at: neldalindsey@aol.com

Count me in with any information on any class action suit or whom to contact to set a formal complaint.
