This is a complaint as well as a request for advice from anyone about stopping these phone calls.

Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc. has been making harassing phone calls every week or so to my friend, starting earlier this year.

Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc, Suite 201, 9225 Leslie St, Richmond Hill, ON, L4B 3H6
    1-888-730-6333
    1-905-886-0555
    1-905-886-3084
    1-905-886-4271   (& maybe others)

Randy Grant's calls are about an old credit card debt from over 10 years ago. However, she (my friend) did make the "mistake" of paying $10.00 to the creditor as recently as 2 years ago, thus probably keeping the case active.

She has been a paraplegic using a wheelchair for 10 years and during that time has had no earned income. Just a small monthly amount from ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), which isn't classified as "earned" income. She isn't expected to have any earned income at any future time, since her medical condition is only gradually getting worse.
She's on a program giving her access to help for daily living stuff, round the clock.

Randy Grant has yelled at her, sworn at her, threatened to get her kicked out of her apartment, threatened legal action, and other nasty threatening and abusive things.

My friend has attempted suicide in the past, and I don't want Partners In Credit Inc. to continue to harrass her, pushing her to the brink.
It's affecting her physical and emotional health and her sleep, since her chronic pain only permits her to sleep at irregular times.

The amount owed is a few thousand dollars. Can't afford to pay a lawyer. She's almost house-bound.

She has repeatedly asked Randy Grant to write rather than phone, but he continues to phone.

I'm helping her to draft a letter to Randy Grant to send by registered mail, explaining why she can't pay anything. It'll also include a request to have all further communication in writing, not by phone.
She would pay if she could, but on ODSP she barely has enough to pay her subsidized rent, needed utilities, and some food, but can't even afford badly-needed maintenance of her wheelchair. She has no credit cards, no lines of credit, no vehicles or property, and nothing besides what's in her apartment.

    HELP OR ADVICE?
1.) How to stop Partners In Credit Inc. from phoning her.
2.) How else to deal with the old debt that we wouldn't even be able to pay the interest on.
3.) Where would be a more appropriate website to ask for this type of help or advice (or complain)?

If anyone has any helpful suggestions for us to deal with Randy Grant or Partners In Credit Inc., please comment here or (better) write to me at this throwaway email address: uce@emailaccount.com
    uce (AT) emailaccount (DOT) com
(Please include the word "Advice" in the Subject, to filter it from the junkmail.)

    Thanks for listening :)

We've had some problems in the past with other agencies.  Inform them next time they call all responses and communications must be in writing and then stop answering their calls. Follow up with a letter (registered mail) stating that all communications must be in writing and explain your situations and what kind of repayments you can make. Also forward a copy of said letter to the orginal debtor. Since she made a payment within the past 2 years she is most likely still going to have to pay something but working with the orginal company she may be able to work something out.

For more information on the practice of what a collection agency is and is not allowed to do, go to Canadas Website and look up collections agencies.

    Hope this helps

Phone a kind, compassionate company who will understand your situation, its in Brampton and you can call TTC WheelTran services to on how to take her there or YmCa community centers can try and help her or place an add for transportation needed volunteer person, or Social Services as well. Call them at 905-455-8474.  They are Brokers' but its worth, my friend who is also on ODSP, I helped him, but I phoned, asked anyone for help even to assist in helping him pay the Brokers'fee monthly.  Ontario Consumer Credit guided him...its a one time payment you can pay monthly.  Get the help you need call them, hope it helps.  You can sue agencies now for harrasment and phone the CRT Communications or Bell, ask a lawyer who specializes in Collection agencies over 7 years for advice pro-bono as well.  Be strong willed...the darkness will show light each day one helps themselves and let negative Narcisstic people perish.

Its not filthy scam to let people know there is options whether is a Broker company who are legal and non-for-profit as well for free.  But when people start putting others down because of opinion's to generally, genuine need help others then its really sad the have to resort to negative words like that reply.  At least bad critism's show weak minded individuals to lash out.  Sad...really sad..........people do the best they can and learning from choices, life is not so cut and dry.

Thanks for your helpful comment "Me".

    * Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc phoned her again on Monday, August 10th, making threats and being quite rude, which is what prompted me to post here.

As I mentioned, "She has repeatedly asked Randy Grant to write rather than phone, but he continues to phone."

** I've suggested that she not answer phone calls from Partners In Credit Inc. Unfortunately, with the strong prescription medications that she's on, plus being sleep-deprived from her chronic pain, she usually answers the phone automatically -- thinking it's the Care Staff of the agency that gives her as-needed, round-the-clock help for her daily living activities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, giving her baths, supervising her taking of her prescription medications four times per day, and so on.

Yes, I'm helping her write that Registered letter (with Acknowledgement Of Receipt!) explaining the whole situation and asking that Partners In Credit Inc not phone her, but rather put everything in writing.

** Good idea about sending a copy of the letter to the orginal debtor. Thanks! I hadn't thought of that.
In the letter to Randy Grant, Partners In Credit Inc, we'll ask for the address of the original debtor, so we can explain the situation to them. (It's "Royal Bank Visa", but I don't know which city.)

    * She really can't afford to pay them anything at all. Her wheelchair needs maintenance and she hasn't been able to afford to get that done yet. I help her when I'm able to, but I have my own problems that I won't get into here.

    * As I understand it, ODSP payments aren't "earned income", and are exempt from garnishments. That might make her "judgment proof", meaning that since she has no income or assets, there's nothing to collect against any judgment, even in the event that Partners In Credit Inc obtain a judgement against her.

** We're thinking that it might be a good idea for her to give me financial Power Of Attorney to take care of this matter legally and *promptly*. We trust each other 100%, and at her request I'm already handling her bill paying for her, as well as using her bank card to do her shopping. (And I make sure that every cent is accounted for in writing, with receipts and balance sheets.)

I'll try to find that website information that you mention.

Thanks very much for taking the time to give me advice to help her. I (we) appreciate it!

    Thanks for your comment KiKi.

I really have strong feelings about people like Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc, who use threats of eviction, yelling insults and abuse, and so on. I realize that his job may be difficult, even frustrating, but that's no excuse for his rudeness.

When Rudy Grant phoned my friend on August 10th, she could hear other people including women in the background, probably in the same office as Randy Grant (or at least nearby), also shouting. Seems that rude shouting at people on the phone might be the way that Partners In Credit Inc normally conducts their business.

** About your comment: We're a few hours drive from Brampton.
And as I mentioned, "She's almost house-bound." Unable to make a trip like that.

    * I'll try to find out the legalities of "harrasment".

    * We appreciate your suggestions, thanks.

PS. Please ignore the criticism below. If this turns into an argument, we run the risk of getting all of our comments deleted -- and I really need all the advice I can get.

    Thanks, "FraudWatch".

    * Yes, I'm trying to research this myself and get free help. If you have any pointers for me, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks for pointing out that not all help is free.

    * Yes, it's true that we can't afford to pay a Broker. Nor can my friend travel to Brampton.

I don't know if "KiKi" is trying to promote a business or not, but I *do* welcome any and all advice, including KiKi's. Some of you must know more about dealing with people like Randy Grant, Collections Supervisor, Partners In Credit Inc in cases like this one, so I'll consider all available options (even though we can only go with the free ones).

Let's not get into name-calling, or all of our posts here might get deleted. Thanks :)
