- Jack Debtor| 1 replyThis guy Jeff is a real schmuck! He can't get a real job like the rest of us; he has to threaten people for a paycheck. Karma is a [***] Geoff. Only so long you can hide in newmarket before the sheriff comes looking for you. This company breaks so many regulations put in place to protect consumers. File complaints against this company! Sooner than later their license will be revoked for the crimes they commit.

- AS replies to Smarten UpHEY! If a**holes want to break the law, its about time people like US will out them in a heartbeat. Maybe they deserve a little harassment too! I think they do. If they choose to break the law, then why can't anyone else? They deserve it in my opinion.
- In Debt| 3 repliesDon’t pay any money to any debt collector – period !!!
Once your debt has been sold to one of these bottom feeders, nothing that you manage to scrape together to pay these thugs will undo the damage now done to your credit rating by your original bank/creditor deciding to close your account and write/sell off your debt. Your best chance of repairing/preserving your credit rating always lies with you settling directly with your creditors while you account is still open, and BEFORE they sell it off to a debt collector.
Once a debt collector has your file, your credit rating is screwed, and nothing you pay from that point forward to a debt collector will repair the damage done regardless of what these slimeballs will lie to you. Only time - about 12 to 18 months at a minimum – will start to repair your credit rating as the old bad debt ages into obscurity. Note, the statute of limitations on unsecured debt is 3 years making the cheapest way to solve your debt problems without declaring bankruptcy is to just “skip” out on these debts.
The best way to handle a debt collector is to never respond to them – ever – so change your telephone numbers to unlisted ones, your mailing address to a UPS mailbox, and add an autoreply to your e-mail address stating “This e-mail account has been terminated, your message was not delivered. Please remove this e-mail from your address book”.
Remember, these slugs only get paid if they collect money, or if under contract by your original creditor, they only get paid whenever they make a positive contact with you. So if they can never get a positive contact (ie: confirm a working tel no, leave a message, actually obtain a response from you) they don’t get paid. And more importantly, if they don’t know where you actually sleep, they can never pound on your door, evict you, or try and serve you with court papers.
I have successfully skipped out on over 100K of debt without going bankrupt and so can you. In fact, I would suggest all of you do the same because billions of our tax dollars were used to bail out the banks and credit card companies, so in my mind our bad debts were paidoff the day all of these [***] took our tax money in order to prevent themselves from going bankrupt.
Important sidebar to Smarten up, Visa, Quach, PIC Guy, and all other debt collectors reading this blog, you all better be back off on the hostility during this very tough economy because we know exactly where you work should we decide to come and say “goodbye” face to face once you have pushed off the ledge we were clinging upon. - LyteDon't ever pay this people. Once your file has gone into this people's hands, it's pretty much a writeoff with the original financial institution (Royal Bank I believe in this case). In any case, they should not get your money since you are already being charged so much interest in the first place. You shoud just tell them you don't have the money to pay and if they want to take you to court let them do so or stop the calls. In order for them to hire a lawyer, it's not really worth it for them. Plus, if you don't have any assets, even if they take you to court, the judge would just laugh in their face.
Keep your spirits up and don't let these [***] get to you.- Caller: EIC

- CatListen to "in debt" for he speaks the truth. Collection clerks are paid a measly $10 per hr to harrass you. Their paycheques increase only with the bonus amounts they are able to collect from suckers they are hoping is you. You too would be "screaming" on the phone at people if this is how you had to pay your rent. Times are tough with normally very good people having to default on non necessities due to lay offs, wage roll backs, etc. That is exactly why collection agencies are called "bottom feeders" - they are paid on the back of the misery of others. You will note that I did not say "earn", I said "paid" - this may be a "job" but it is not a proud or enviable "job" that in any manner contributes anything positive to society, i.e., nurse, teacher, etc. Unfortunately this type of "job" is one of the few industries that does well in times of economic chaos. By the time they have your account, the Bank/Visa are no longer wasting their precious staffs' "expensive" time contacting you - they know you can't pay, and usually their only satisfaction is in having a poorly paid collection clerk harrass you instead - especially into trying to have you make the mistake of acknowledging the debt exists, &/or paying a small payment. Creditors do not want the hassel of taking expensive legal action, and generally won't pursue the debtor where they know they cannot attach a bank account or even sell enough of your assets to cover the debt amount. It is really hard now, in this economy, to sell off personal items and get decent cash for them, and it takes money to seize, pay storage, and then pay auction fees. If it was worth them doing this, they would have done it already, rather than "sell" the account to a collection agency. They know it is not worth spending good money to collect bad. (unless of course they have a lien on your vehicle, in which case you have already signed documents that states they can repossess it without legal action). Note that if you pay even $1 towards these written off debts, or acknowledge the debt in any manner exists, or that you state that you do "owe" it, the time limit for suing you starts all over again. (Don't even tell them your circumstances or state that you cannot afford payment at this time - a huge mistake as it proves they had contact with you - just hang up on them - these clerks have absolutely NO authority over you, although they are taught to sound like they do - do not let them rattle you or scare you - remember they are trying to get "bonus" money from you). Some provinces are 3 years, some are 2 years, and they cannot take you to court after this period of time has passed if you have not acknowledged or paid anything towards the debt. Collection clerks won't tell you this of course!! So like "In debt" states above, do absolutely nothing - don't even answer 800 calls to your phone. They then try to get tricky by using "spoofed" numbers - if you answer their call in error, simply hang up. Do not say "wrong number" as they can then use this as an excuse to call your relatives for your "new" phone number, which is really a guise to embarrass you. Return mail sent to you by stroking out the address and putting an arrow mark directing the post office to return the item to the sender. Bad debt does happen to good people in bad economic times. You can tell it is a collection clerk when they try to call you a loser on line. Don't pay attention and don't get goaded into talking to them. Best advice is to HANG UP and RETURN MAIL SENT TO YOU!!! Good times will return, and "time" will also heal your bruised credit rating!!

- edReceived a call from 855 272-5660. Message says it is important and to contact Mr. David Garrett at 855 282-5660 x 2211. The receptionist required me to confirm my birthday which I refused until I knew what the call was regarding. She said the call was regarding my TD VISA account which I don't have. She asked 3 times to confirm if I was born before 1961. When I refused, she said the calls would stop if I would confirm. I confirmed but now wish I hadn't. Seems like blackmail.
It seems this company does both credit card promotion and debt collection. Interesting.- Caller: Partners In Credit (PIC)

- Einna| 1 replyWhy would I be getting calls from these people if I don't, and have ever, owed money? Is it just a scam?
- Einna replies to Einna*have never
- Anne Onymous replies to Her FriendA company has 7 years from the date the bill is due to collect the money owed on said bill. After that, the file is no longer legally valid & is also supposed to be wiped from your credit record. If they waited ten years to start calling, they're SOL.
She should NOT have paid them as the file should have been closed at that point. If she had made a payment within the seven years, THAT could have kept the case open, but she should not have paid.
Under the LAW, they CANNOT legally yell at you, swear at you, threaten to get you evicted from your home, or threaten to take legal action against you. They CAN notify you that they ARE taking legal action against you, but if they say so, they are legally bound to DOING so.
The next time they call, she should politely ask that they record the phone call, stating the date & time of the call on the recording, & send her a tape of the call with the date & time of the call written on the tape. If they ask why, she should explain that previous calls from their company have involved their employees yelling & swearing at her & threatening to have her evicted & take legal action against her. She should also tell them that the debt is ten years old & that under the law, that file should be closed & that they have no legal right to further pursue that case. She should also remind them that as it is no longer an open file, it had better not still be on her credit record. She should end the call in saying that any further calls will result in legal action against THEM.
She should also file a complaint right NOW to the proper legal authorities. I'm not sure who they are, but I think it will be easy to find if she just googles "Ontario file complaint about collection agency". She should include all of the above information regarding the issue in her complaint.
She should also include in the phone call & complaint that she has instructed PIC to write, not call. Legally, if you tell them not to call you anymore, they have to write & cannot call you. - AnonymousI've been receiving calls from this number as well as a few other numbers concerning the same company PIC or Partners in Credit. I don't answer these calls but a few weeks ago they left an automated message on my phone saying they were from TD Bank and gave me a referance number saying it was an urgent matter and to call 1-855-282-5581. I don't remember this or the other 855 number being any number associated with my bank. I've should have called my bank directly, but called the number because I thought something happened to my account. I panicked. Some woman answered the 855 number and told her I'm not sure what this is in regards to, but I have this reference number. I got directed to the voice mail of a Randy Grant. I said my name on his voice mail and that I'm calling with reference number.....and said that I've not got anything in the mail or via my online banking. And unfortunetly gave my phone number for him to call me. Really stupid of me. I got off the phone and then contacted my bank still in a panic which I regrettably should have done before calling this weird number. They did not recognize the number belonging to them. There is nothing wrong with my account either. I don't have any credit cards. I don't own a home or car. I lead a pretty simple life. I don't have any issues owing money to anyone. I had a credit card about 20 years ago or more when I was younger in another province. I missed some payments but settled it and paid it off with Royal bank a very long time ago with any outstanding amounts and then closed that account out paid in full.
These people did call me back. Someone who I did not leave the initial message with, someone named Andy (he sort of mumbled his last name and can't pick it out on my machine. Sounded like Jarvis or something), but he left a very threatening message on my voice mail saying I owe them money. Then the same day they called back actually from another number, the same man, and then left a message saying "You pathetic woman, I know you're there, pick up the phone NOW or there's going to be f**k'ing trouble for you!" I do know my rights, and have these messages saved on my phone. I went down to my bank's main branch with my cell and talked to the bank manager and played the messages for her and she is taking this into her own hands. Not only did they pose as someone from the bank, which is illegal, they are actually stating that they are a part of my bank which is false, and making threatening calls. I've been with this bank for 15 years and I've never been in trouble with them and they informed me that since they are posing under the name of TD Bank that they are going to look into this matter seriously. They also informed me to keep the messages on my phone and if there is any more harassment, to get the phone company and police involved. It seems now, after calling me non stop 5 times a day and night, after I contacted my bank the calls have stopped. I did get a strange phone number once yesterday from a completely different number being 866-295-6762 at 8 last evening, but no message was left. I don't know if it was PIC or not or just some other telemarketer call. I'm just spooked a bit because if they are not with my bank how did they know my bank's name and my phone number? Luckily my bank also upped the security on my account just encase and told me to alert them right away if there's anything strange with my account.- Caller: PIC

- JayLike other people, I've been receiving calls by this number and various other numbers but all from the same PIC people. I too don't have any debts. I never did. They called me saying that they were with Scotia Bank. After almost a month of these calls I contacted my bank and informed them of these calls, they could not identify the number either but one was the Scotia bank line but the line they use to make courtesy calls. Not to call about serious matters. I was very upset when I went into my bank saying I'm constantly harassed by these people for a month now, also leaving very rude messages on my machine. I've been a customer with my bank for a very long time, and if they've sold my info to telemarketers or some other sham of a company that I'll remove all my accounts out of their bank. The calls stopped for a couple of days but started calling me again last night. I still don't know the full story, if it's anything to do with my bank or not. They assured me it wasn't them, but the callers on the phone, also under a confirmed Scotia bank number are still calling. I don't know if this is my bank or if some scam artists posing under a debt collection agency is just cloning their numbers as people's banks to get them to pick up and scare them thinking it's actually their bank. I've never received calls like this from my bank before. I don't know. I've never had any debts. I don't own credit cards as well. I do own a car but not owing anything. I've always had good credit. I don't understand what these calls are about. I did contact these people and they kept trying to get personal info about me like my SIN and home residence. I said that if they were associate's with my bank they would have all that info there all ready and I'm not replying to anything further unless I receive something in writing from my bank. They did not tell me what the debt was or with whom. I'm thinking these are just some scammers. I looked them up online, and from the complaints and so on, they don't seem legit. They are not even with BBB. I'm not going to stress too much over it, other than if they are an actual company, how they have my name and number and bank, and also what if I could be a victim of fraud or something?

- BeaWho are these people? I see its a collection company but they keep calling for my elderly mother who is now in a nursing home. I can't get them to stop calling. Very rude people too. I try to tell them that my mother doesn't live with me any more. She don't have any debts either. She's 86 years old. They won't tell me any more info as to what she owes and I'm not giving out her number. Possible scam artists.

- gonna snap!Got a visa 7 years ago with rbc, last payment was over 5 years ago, they took this long to call me. I made the mistake of confirming my identity and place of work with them. And in regards to the debt I only said that I would like to settle this matter but did not acknowledge the debt. I said I would need time to check personal records and in the near future would pay them a thousand dollars if I could indeed confirm that I actually owed this money at all, the total amount owing is 12000 dollars. My question is has the limitations statute reset by me makimg contact with him, but have not confirmed nor denied my involvment in this loan?

- amazonWell guess what peeps it is a scam of some type. I have very good credit and I owe only on a vehicle and the payments come directly out of my bank account. I have no other debt at the moment at all. This company has been calling me for over a year asking for "Amanda Fowler". Guess what I am not her and she does not exist at my place of residence. I told them over 6 months ago to stop calling and they said they would take care of it. Surprise the calls started again this week for the same person" Amanda Fowler". They actually called today when I stopped at home for a quick bite at lunch. Left a voicemail to call back a different number. Number that called was 1-905-886-0555 the lady was very hard to understand so I did not catch her name. The number I called back was 1-855-483-0977 Extension 2510. I asked what it was about, the phone was put on hold I got someone else then I got the original woman again. I told her there was no Amanda Fowler here and to stop calling my phone. She said who are you, I told her my last name only(probably a mistake). SHe then asked if my phone number was blah, blah blah. I said yes(probably another mistake). She apologised said she would fix it. That is twice I have been told this. I am sure they will start calling again in another 6 months.
