Two calls in two days.  No-one there if we answer.

I just received a call on my caller ID  954 733-7981.  I did not even pick up the phone.  If I do not recognize the number, I will NOT pick up the phone.

Recorded female voice says, "Hi; this is Heather from Credit Card Services. There certainly isn't a problem with your account......" I didn't let the message continue; I hung up. Calling the number back gets me a response that the number has been disconnected.

This is a call from Certified Warranty Company.  They go through public records to determine when a car was bought and call people saying that "your warranty is about to expire"  (OH NO..NOT THAT!!).  They then say that they are from the company who sold you the car and that you will be "unprotected" soon. (AHHHH!!). Then they will try to sell you a overpriced extended warranty that is not from the car company at all. I did call toyota where i bought my car and they know about this pratice but they DO NOT give out info to these companys. They even offered that in writing.  Do not deal with these people they are crooks and predators that work on fear of a car breakdown!! They will hang up as soon as you start asking questions, i played along for a while to get this info.

This person called me and it was a message about lowering my credit card rate.  I pushed 1 and asked to be taken off the list, at which point i was hung up on!  Isn't this against the law since I am on the no call list?

The "disconnected number" message is obviously their answering machine with a tacky recording of the phone company's disconnect tone.

Just got a call from 954 733 7981. I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. I don't understand how they can do this legally. I'm on the no call list!

I live in Utah and got a call from this number at 10am MST today (March 7, 2008).  I did not answer, but I've been receiving swarms of calls like these the last month or so, mostly from the 623 area code (like 623-238-6256, 623-238-6260, etc.).  If you do answer, they don't say anything.

Got a call from 954-733-7981. Let machine pick up. Informed me that my credit card account was fine but I was eligible for a lower interest rate. Picked up when it said something to the effect of,"Press one to speak to an agent." I pressed one, and when they answered, they didn't introduce themselves as belonging to a company (the caller id didn't say any name either, just "Ft. Lauderdale, Florida"), but immediately asked if I wasd interested in the lower rate. I said, I don't have a credit card, so I'm kind of wondering why you keep calling me." (not the first call)They promptly hung up.

This has got to be some kind of scam.

At 10am this morning, Friday 7 mar 2008, I got a call from 954-733-7981. Caller ID says they are from Fort Lauderdale.  I am on the "do not call" list but better yet--I do not have a credit card NOR a new ca!! The first time they called it was about the car warranty thing. This time it was about credit card.  They must just pick numbers from the phone book.  Can't these people be arrested?

wanted to add to the first post, that though I have been receiving calls like this, the number wasn't the same. don't know the other numbers.

I'm going to report them to the better business bureau. You should do the same. Look up the better business bureau's site.

After reading all of the other posts, I have to say I've been getting calls about a car warantee, too!

Everyone needs to report them to the better business bureau.

Caller Id just said, unknown. Didn't answer it.

Got a call on an unlisted cell phone.......when asked to talk to supervisor, they hung up.........tried to call them back and recording said number was disconnected but thats not the case so we should all just keep calling them back and harrasssing them.....its not disconnected, its there voicemail message.........clog up there phone with our return calls..........Lets get 'em!!

The company is appearantly called "versa debt". See more info about them at https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-954-689-7681. They use forged caller IDs.

I too am unlisted. Also on the "do not call" list. And I have no credit card (which is what they were calling about).

I just emailed my local better business bureau to see if they can help me, or at least point me in the right direction.

I just got one and if you press 1 and start to speak about anything except their offer, they hang up.  I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call List, but I am wondering why these people are still being allowed to call.  I still get calls at least three of four times a week and I've been on the Do Not Call List for several years.
