Caller called asking for the owner of the Company by name.  I asked what it was in regards to and whom was calling.  The caller said "Bill"....Stone with Stillwell and Stone and that our owner was expecting his call.  As I continued to try to find out what his call was regarding the more beligerant he became...using fowl language...etc. he left a number and said that my boss "by first name" had "better" call him back.  We *69 to find out the number and my boss called the number back.  He said he was a lawyer and could help collect from debtors and boss told him he wasn't interested and not to call back..only to be cursed out again followed by the gentleman hanging up.  The gentleman then tried to call us back!  We did not answer!

It's funny that you say you had to *69 my number when you just said I gave it to you. Secondly, all my calls are recorded and I have never told anyone I was a lawyer, nor do I curse people out. I wouldn't get much business that way. I give my number to everyone, so if I was that rude I think there would be more complaints on this page.

Maybe you should take care of your employees and not take it out on people trying to help companies out of this economic death spiral our country is in.

"Wild Bill" keeps calling our company as well. He is a jerk and rude! Will not take no for an answer.

I just got a call from this same ridiculous company.  When are those goofballs going to learn that all of the telemarketing noise in the background, calling my boss by her first name like some close friend are dead giveaways that they're somebody she doesn't want to talk to???!!  Ha!  Sometimes I just play along to see what absurd tactic they're going to try on me this time - knowing full well that when I'm ready, I will end the call.

I asked who was calling and what company, he said Roderick Wade with Stillwell and Stone.  He added a very pompous "She'll take my call".  (Of course, by this time, "Wild Bill" (AKA Roderick Stone) has probably had to use another name to try and get through!    Such [removed:lang]should have no access to the public . . .

They have called us with threats as well. They have also managed to violate several Ca. codes. Cal. Civ. Code § 1812.700; California law will require third-party debt collectors subject to the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to provide debtors with a notice describing their rights under the California Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the FDCPA..
We have a law suit in the works as well as a potential class action suit.

My name is Roderick Wade. I have never called anyone's place of business and represented myself as anything other than Roderick Wade. Not Wild Bill, nor Roderick Stone. Anyone that knows me will say that I'm a man of integrity. I am suspect of the comment, because most people don't spell my first name correct. Also the date in question 5-1-10, I was working in the field gathering accounts. Whomever says that I called their business that day is not telling the truth. Stillwell & Stone does Commercial Collections FDCPA does not apply.  I would suggest calling them and paying your bill.

I'm not against or for this company, but wanted to investigate a few things after reading the above.

Stillwell & Stone sound like most collection agencies. They have a sales floor with "dialers" to make sales calls and a collection floor collecting debt from deadbeat customers. Any phone sales floor will be loud, especially in a collection agency...! I don't believe a collection agency would ever tolerate abussive language to a prospective customer or for that matter a debtor in collections. Most agencies have a compliance person who listens to all recorded calls. You would get fired on the spot in our company if your cussed out a potential customer... NEXT! I would suggest if you have a "legitimate" complaint that you submit a one on Stillwell & Stone's website. I just checked and there's a place for you to vent your personal feelings. The person from the earlier statement regarding FDCPA is correct. I looked at Stillwell's site and they are a Commercial Collection agency... FDCPA doesn't appy here.

Seriously, if you don't like the call then why stay on it...?Just hang up...!

Jim Wilson from Stillwell keeps calling me and is VERY rude and unprofessional. He really degrades the company image. I have forwarded my complaint to my lawyer.

I would suggest you take a good look at the state of the economy. This is not 1990. I would also like to strongly suggest you never assume you know who your dealing with. I work completely on facts. And what makes you think I owe you money ? Again, another assumption. End of conversation. Period.

Once again, assumptions. Do you now me ? Didn't think so. Think. Not a good idea to start talking about "ass kickings"  The asterisk is not in the grey area. Done.

If you would like to file a complaint, you can file one online with the FTC and the Attorney General's Office (see links below).  I have been contacted and harrassed by the company regarding someone else's personal debt.  Stillwell and Stone has violated the FDCPA as they have been harrassing debtors and third parties regarding a personal debt.  As to going to their website to file a complaint, I tried that, filled everything in and it rejected it.  I have already filed complaints, as has everyone else involve, with the FTC and the AG's office and would recommend you do the same.  Also, I have contacted a lawyer to handle this situation and they still called me (again, this is not even my debt).  But as consumers we need to take a stand against this abusive behavior.  I am all for paying your bills, but this is outrageous behavior.

Sometimes he thinks he is a lawfirm, other times he wants you to believe that he can file a lawsuit.

Neither is true.

Karl A. Stanley is a con artist, who uses the name of Robert Stillwell to try and bully you into sending him money.

He does not have offices outside Texas as shown on his website, they are VOIP numbers designed to give an impression that does not exist.

I don't know to much about this guy, but he could have had some "legal" issues years ago, but took care of them and is now running a legitamte business. Give the guy a break! I did some investigating on this company and they are NOT a consumer collection agency... just COMMERCIAL recovery B2B.

In my investigation these other VOIP (voice over internet protocol) numbers (offices) are in fact people working on behalf of the company in another state. This is the age of technology and many Executives work in a "virtual" office either from home or actually in an office. So yes, this company actually does have a pressence in other states. You should learn to do your homework better.

Why don't you share your information and let "the public" do a little investigating on you Pal.

The problem is that this company calls wrong numbers and harasses innocent people trying to force payment of a debt that is NOT theirs!

Even after telling this guy many times he had the wrong #, he kept calling and calling me a liar. Even as early as 6AM, calling and threatening lawsuits, etc!

When I asked for proof of the debt, they made all kinds of stupid excuses and never provided.

So, I contacted my lawyer.
Yes, I will be filing a complaint.
