- Dr. McDonaldGot a call, originated from Midland, MI, it is a land line, another call, (218)349-6512, originated from Duluth, MN, possibly Syrian, guy named David, landline claimed with Microsoft, possible terrorist connection, just putting it out there, to get control of computers, to do what? Not a good thing, threatening

- Pudge replies to Dr. McDonaldDr., you need to increase the dose on your medicine. There's no need for that degree of paranoia here. This is an old scam that's been running around for a long time. It's a bunch of thieves with lots of time and technology at their disposal. Don't answer, hang up, block 'em, report 'em, ignore 'em, just don't give them control of your computer. Microsoft is actually going after some of them:
http://www.cnet.com/news/microsoft-combats-te ... s-with-lawsuit/ - MattHave called 3x a day for the past 3 days. When I answered out of desperation they asked if we needed computer help. I told them no and not to call anymore. Then they again called 3x the next day! Arrgh
- JeneThey have been calling all day. Tried telling me they are direct employees from Microsoft and they need to fix my computer. She got so mad at me when I said scam that she said I was just babbling and that she would show me who she was as "I'm gonna shut your computer down right now and you will see what I can do". Jeez they get so testy when you call them out on their B.S. So watch for threats.

- CherylWe've been getting calls from this number for a couple of weeks now. Tonight they called twice after 9pm. Because they use autodialers, many times there is no one on the line when we pick up. Normally, I try to wait for the 4th ring before I pick up a call, but I sometimes get connected to them anyway. Tonight, I told the woman that it was against the law to call so late, and asked to speak with her supervisor. She hung up immediately.
- Caller: "Microsoft IT Department"

- JimHI had seen "Midland MI" and the number several times before but did not answer. I did look it up here and was ready today when they called back.
True to form - "James" was from Windows and was here to help me.
With my fingers, eyes and toes crossed - I told him "I don't have any computers". He said WHAT - I repeated - and with a moan the call was over.
And all my computers sighed with relief.- Caller: Unknown from Midland MI
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Drake IversonSomeone keeps calling LATE in the evening. No message left. Sometimes they call 2-3 times in one night!

- Janet ParksI got a call from a man with an Asian Indian accent. He said he was from Microsoft and that he was getting info from my Windows program. He said that I'm not allowed to use Windows because I don't have a license. I don't use Windows, so I know he's lying.
- Caller: Microsoft (allegedly)
- jpmThey called at 12:30pm I answered but nothing was said. Then they called again at 5:30Pm I did not answer but no message was left. I called the number and it said the number was disconnected. I'm sick and tired of these weird calls...
- person replies to OhioA man did the same exact thing but he said he was from windows. Lol fail much?
- Democrite replies to OhioHello,
I'm in France and i had such a call ! Couldn't see the phone number. A lady then a guy (senior technician huhu !) tried to make me install some trojan stuff. They proceeded just like you tell it, using www.456usa.com as a hook.
As i like to gamble, i've let them go as far as possible (holding ethernet cable in my hand ready to unplug). They used remote control on my PC. Showing me "all corrupted files" using a pityful dir /a /s !!! on a dos prompt. I was in Matrix :))
And finally told me that i had to register my (original !) Windows copy.
The best was when they tried to install a kind of lock on my datas as a security !
I told the guy that i just unpluged the ethernet cable. Then i stopped talking. He hung up then try his luck 5 min later.
Those people are dangerous crooks. Be aware.
