I have been getting unknown calls on my phone for about a year now and my boyfriend has too. It ranges from either once a day to 40 times a day. Its driving me crazy! When i answer it there is nobody on the line and they dont hang up either. I used trapcall to unmask the calls and it ended up being T-mobile Bellevue lab in Washington. I called T-mobile to complain and they said there was nothing they could do about it except change both of our numbers. So we did. A month later we started getting the unknown calls again. We used trapcall once more and the number showed up as 19999999999. I have no idea who it is and we cant get out of our T-mobile contract. They call in the middle of the night, mornings, and during the day. Sometimes 20 times in a row! I have to put my phone on silent! If anybody knows anything let me know!

I work for a phone/cable company.  The way the phone CID system is designed is the same for all phone lines, cell or land line.  The calling party sends the CID info thru the public switched telephone network (PSTN).  Using simple software programs or telephone systems, like a PBX calling system at a business, ANYONE, including a cheating spouse's mistress, can "spoof" their outbound CID info.  Some phone companies will also put any info you desire on your Outbound CID info.

Usually these calls are coming from a Debt collector or a solicitor, so don't write up divorce papers just yet.  Best bet is http://www.donotcall.gov for people living in the USA to have themselves removed from *most* solicitor lines.  If it continues and you don't owe anyone any money your number is stuck in an auto-dialer's system, but since you don't owe any money there is no outbound message for them to play to you, or something along those lines.  In that case you are out of luck - either change your phone number or try to file a police report for harassment and find out who is calling (even if the company you have cant release any more info to you, they can see where the call is actually coming from, but due to privacy laws they can only release the info by subpoena).

If you are lucky enough to have someone on the line when you answer, don't think "shoddy business practice" on the part of the caller/company... a lot of times the call center that is calling you doesn't even have inbound numbers that the rep is calling from.

For the umpteenth time  either this "Ron Kennedy" or "Mary" from "Ron Kennedy's office" calls asking me to return a call to him at: 877-591-0433. Same phony message. He has a file he wants to review.
This has been reported by me and other people. It's been going on for months. I do not answer. He doesn't address me by any name.  Someone please tell me why continue to report something. We want evidence there is being action taken to make it stop!!!

OK...I first noticed a strange number on my verizon bill when I went to check our current usage. It showed a 1 min. call at 1am on my husbands phone. Since you can label the calls when you are veiwing them I labeled it "1am". Then I checked my husbands phone and the call was not showing on his phone. I figured he deleted it. So I when back and looked at the last bill and noticed a call at 4am (also unable to find it on my husbands phone although all the remainding calls were still on his phone. I ask him about it, he said he had no idea. We sleep in the same room I would have heard his phone ring even if it was on vibrate.
I called Verizon, talked with a female rep. She agreed to look up the number for me that showed as unavailabe 4am on the previous bill.(Oh..I am the manager listed on our Verizon acct. even though the acct is in my husbands name --I recommend this to all of you and it can be changed right on line at the Verizon website.) She ask if I recently stayed at a Hotel, I said we stay at a Hotel about every 3 months due to my husbands work. She said the 999-999-9999 means the call was unavailable/restricted but I just called the number registered to the call for that time and it is a Hotel. She actually named the name of the very same Hotel we stay in. I called them they said the phones they use can only receive calls not make calls. "Whatever"

So all restricted/unavailable numbers will always show up as 999-999-9999 on your Verizon bill and can be from obviously different places and people. I was also told by another individual that a lot of times companies you deal with make these calls to see if your number is still current so they can SELL your information.

Finally in the end my husband was elated to see that I received the same call on my cell at 4am and it didn't ring or show on my phone either. I personally think we should all be ticked off at Verizon for allowing this to take place. They seem to be the only beneficary of this issue!! How is it fair to not know who is calling and racking up minutes you must pay for. It has the slight smell of a technology scan much like the hackers who skim pennies from bank accts and end up with a million $$$.

I received a call supposedly from John Kennedy's office who supposedly needs to speak to me right away regarding a case file that has entered his office and needs my attention. Another number that pops up is 323-331-9060.

I just got a call from 999-999-9999   On caller id >> Name not found<<<... Have read through several answer's and question's about where this # originates from and have come to the conclusion that it is spoofing technology. Could be anybody that uses the service to do exactly what they intend to do block their true identity. I did not pick up the phone and never do if I do not recognize the phone #. The only sure way to rid of these unwanted call's is to disconnect your phone. I have tried in the past to block caller's that are simular in nature but am told that it cannot be blocked from home phone or cell phone because it come's up as unidentified or whatever. I am seriously considering doing just giving up the home phone period, I am like many of you here very frustrated that we can be on the no-call list, In my case since it started and people have figured a way to get around the very law's that are supposed to stop the annoying call's. Technology is obviously getting better everyday, I suppose all we can do as consumer's is take step's such as disconnecting our phone or keep filing complaint's in the hope's that we can actually start blocking these annoying call's from people and or company's. although as far as us stopping them from using this technology, It is I think is simply not going to happen. We have no say so in what a company choose's to use in their business. Soooooo.

999-999-9999 Is a blocked phone number or solicitor.  I called my husband from my work line and my work line is marked private and it came up Restricted, so we checked the bill on the time and date and sure enough, its from a private caller. Hope this helps!

The 999-99-9999 number that shows up on your phone bill is a incoming call that someone has used *67 prior to dialing your number to prevent the caller ID from identifying them.  If it actually shows up on the bill, someone answered that phone  call.  Unanswered incoming calls do not show up on your bill at all.  I have tried this myself, and I recreated it every time I tried. Try it yourself.  Use another phone and dial *67 and then your area code and phone number.  Answer your phone when it rings (caller ID will say "restricted" or "unknown").  Check you bill detail online within the next day or two, and you will see it there.  Try it again and this time, do not answer the phone, and you will see that it does NOT show up unless someone answers it.
