- Deb replies to Elyse R BurnsedI have bad credit but also a common name so I have been the vistim of accidental identy theft, per a state trooper.
I have over 20 years of working for the city and being fingerprinted and still anybody with a credit card can run a credit/criminal history then not know what they are reading. I am always being told I am a felon and have bad accounts living at addresses in states I have never been to.
I contacted the 3 bureaus and tried to dispute it multiple times. I got ignored and the last time I actually got a letter from 2 of them saying to the effect of, after deliberation they decided that the letters they received from someone claiming to be me, disputing listings on my credit report, wasn't me. I'm emailing you. Maybe you have info that can help me?

- Chris May 21,2011I began having threatening calls from Sept 2010-Jan 27,2011.I contacted the police in my area and an officer was at my home for over 4 hrs, also taking the threatening calls. He could not believe howm many calls,I ws receiving.I filled out a ID theft report, since these people have my social security #,drivers license#,auto I own, license number,(let me just say everything about me,they have.I called social security and they told me I can obtain a new ss#.I changed my phone # but that didn't help. I then went to my bank and found out (the bank never informed me that 665.00 was taken out of my savings acct plus an additional 323.98 was taken out of my debit card.THE BANK ALLOWED THIS TO OCCUR.Needless to say,Iwas extremely angry, since the bank knows who Iam,and the person, just walked in and they allowed my money to be withdrawn.I changed bank accts asap, but money was still being taken out.I called the 3 credit agencies, and Experian & Trans-union were extremely helpful,in particular Experian.Equifax however, could care less and denied placing a freeze on my credit report. The worst part of all this,is that HFC has been stating that I have a mortgage with them since 1997,which I have been paying, even though I never signed any application with them.I had St.Paul Federal in Chgo, and they went out of business after several yrs.I just rec'd all 3 credit reports and HFC is NOT LISTED on any of my credit reports!!!HFC,now has my home in foreclosure.I went to an attorney, what a waste of time.I showed him that it was impossible for me to apply for a mortgage with HFC,since my orignal mortgage was only 127,28 per month and why would I want another mortgage,I just moved in.My social security number was showing as my PIN # for my taxes. This is impossible.I called the Attoreny General's office in Chgo, and that was a complete waste of time.Someone from her office called me and began screaming at me,stating that I didn't have any right calling Lisa Madigans office regarding ID theft. And I was TOLD never to contact her again. It turns out that one of the owners in the building that I live in happens to work in Lisa Madigans office!! Since he & his wife moved in I have nothing but problems.I have lived in the condo for over 16 yrs and this past yr & 2011 have been the worst by far.I have been denied employment, numerous times, and I am a psych therapist for over 18 yrs.I have also been denied Insurance, auto loans and any type of personal loan, regardless of how small.I just contacted the police again, since the calls threatening calls began & more money was taken out of my acct.He stated to freeze all credit reports, change banks(since he thinks someone at the bank may be involved & the officer actually contacted Lisa Madigans office stating that I as a consumer have every right to place a complaint to her office. Not many cops will go out of their way to do this.I am so fed up,the condo is for sale and Iam ready to accept any offer.I just remodeled the condo less than 2 yrs ago,but Iam ready to sell regardless of a loss. So, who ever is in the same position, insist on getting a new social security number, freeze your credit reports and dispute anything that isn't yours, change your phone number and place your number on the do not call registry. And if you find a good lawyer, hire him /her.And let them fight for you.And file a police report and send that report to all 3 credit agencies. We have RIGHTS,don't allow these people, who have nothing better to do,except steal our entire life and cause nothing but hell. And as far as SOCIAL SECURITY,continue on fighting for your right to have your number changed. They aren't any different than us,and it could also happen to them.DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO REMAIN A VICTIM,FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS.!!!!
