Telemarketing Script
Here is a list of questions to ask each telemarketer when they call you. Print these questions, and put them next to the phone. Telemarketers are required by law to answer each of these questions. Write the answers down and as well as the date, time of the call, and anything else that will help you remember the call.

- melzville replies to CamThey how come they don't bust these rouge (maybe rogue--?) telemarketers? I do not tolerate being harassed by phone. The way I see it, I pay the telephone bill so I am paying for the privilege of being annoyed and bothered by people and companies that I do not want to be bothered with. From my perspective, if I pay that bill, then I get to say who calls me on that phone. My rule is---if I did not give you my phone number, then don't call me.
- little bill| 2 repliesplay their game. if you have time listen to all they have to say, ask them to repeat it several times, make them waste their time. They get paid on what they sale. I've made them waste a lot of time and got nothing out me. They never called back.
- nickHaha, little bill showing a sixteen year old what's good. Dude these people don't want to make the call any more than you want to pick it up and honestly most just take the minimum wage they get; no real incentive to do anything more. Waste the time, they get paid anyways and as long as they follow procedure there is no punishment; just another tool bossing around a kid.
- JimmyThat's the beauty of having caller ID. If see it showing 'unavailable', 'unknown', etc then I just don't answer the phone. It's easy. :-)
- jand replies to little bill| 1 replyi am a telemarketer, and a rude one at that, some guy told me i should get a real job and i told him this pays my bills and i'm happy with it. Besides, i had all the guys info and [***], lol if i want i could just keep calling dude all day jus to bug him wit an unknown number. at least noone says telemarketing is illegal, and i am sure all u haters would rather a telemarketer than someone robbing you on the streets, i look forward to the next person i'll upset over the phone tomorr, i just keep rebutalling , so u all better take it easy , u will just overwork yourself by getting angry....oh and hope i never call you because i am not one of those telemarketers who loses confidence or gets scared jus cos some jabroni throws out a few curse words. besides i get paid regardless so i dont mind playing the repeating game, im a good salesman and know i'd leave wit some sales and a more irate customer than me lol....i looooove my job
- Disturbed replies to telemarketer| 1 replyYou think I like getting half a dozen telemarketing calls a day? You think I haven't asked to be removed from the call lists from the same telemarketers over and over and over and over to no avail? You think I haven't registered on the do not call registry and filed complaints over and over and over and over with no relief? You think these telemarketers care to follow the law? You better wake up and smell the BS that your peddling bud because I'm not interested in any offers that YOU or ANY OTHER telemarketer has! Just like spammers, I don't care HOW GOOD an offer may be, the very fact that it's being offered in this manner automatically means that I AM NOT INTERESTED!
2 months ago I put the 3 tones and "the number you have reached has been disconnected or is no longer in service" entire phone company message on my answering machine and set it to answer on 2 rings. I totally stopped answering my phone, so my friends don't even bother to call anymore. Yet these telemarketers continue to call and leave messages. I've changed numbers, does no good because they go down the list and call every number in the entire exchange!
Do I have to hunt these autodialing machines down and put a bullet in their microchip brains to stop the madness? - Loser? replies to Amincall me you arrogant worm and we'll see who the loser is
- Exception replies to Mark RowntreeYou may be the exception to the rules that most other telemarketer play by. You may follow the law, but most telemarketers do not.
- Illegal replies to jandAs a telemarketer, to call someone back after being told not to is not only rude, it's ILLEGAL. Keep on breaking the law and you'll get busted eventually. You'll end up calling someone that knows the law and how to take you down. Selective call forwarding works great for people like you and anyone else that tries to hide their number. We never have to hear the phone ring when you try calling, and you get routed directly to the annoyance call center. They get your number even when you try to hide it!
- just passing byy'all guys telemarketers. does it really have to be applicable to market researchers ?? i mean, like those who're doing surveys over the phone ?? come on, those people (telemarketers) are just making a living . you are just generalizing . not all of em were the same . you know . they are nice somehow . most of them you think might be rude coz you are being rude . like shouting at them while they're just still over their intros . anyway, I AM A MARKET RESEARCHER doing surveys over the phone . i dont blame you guys for feeling that way . but come on, do not generalize . you can tell them how you feel about them calling you IN A NICE WAY .
- DPL replies to Cam| 1 replyGet another job. McDonalds pay $9.00 an hour.
- fred k. replies to Cam| 1 replynot all telemarketers are [***]. but 90% of the time they are. in reality you should be angry and taking your frustrattion out on the company who is allowing their employees to get away with such tactics. these questions work and dont. try this: next time they call answer the phone with a silly phrase such as " city morgue you kill em we chill em" or " house of the lord jesus speaking". legal tactics dont always work, but after youve treated them as if they were a joke, or you act as if you get enjoyment out of them calling because it gives you someone to mess with and play jokes on, they will stop calling, trust me. or just answer yes to every one of their questions. just keep saying yes and theyll stop calling.
dont hate on everyone some are just trying to make a living. getting angry only gives some of them satisfaction. turn em into a joke. - Jtoomuch replies to ASSertive| 3 repliesIt is not illegal to have a telemarketing job, it is not being a thief, it is the best job many people can find to survive. If you have a much better job, be thankful. Many people are struggling and need to take any LEGAL job they can get. Such a human tragedy that you were momentarily annoyed.
- Jtoomuch replies to Dave SmithWorking as a telemarketer is the same as robbing banks??? For one thing, I imagine it is much less lucrative. If you were a little smarter, you would realize how stupid you sound.
- Jtoomuch replies to smarter than youSure, you're right. The only commercials I see on TV are the ones I request. [***].
