How to report annoying Telemarketing calls.
- reporter| 33 repliesTelemarketing calls are an annoying thing. Sometimes we get them even when we ask them to stop, or when we are on the Do Not Call list.
If you have had an annoying phone call or fax of any kind, there is one way to deal with it and help everybody else by getting the culprits taken care of.
First, please make a note of the details of the call or calls.
This includes:
the number that called you,
any information from Caller ID
the date and time of the call
the number that you received the call on.
It's important to note if you receive it on a mobile phone.
Then, you can report the call to the FCC on the internet.
The web site I will give will ask you for some personal information. This is secure because it is an official FCC web site. It's no different than making a report to the police, except that this will give you a result.
The web site has several options for reporting the problem call. You can report it using an online form, or print out a form to complete and mail in.
The easiest and best way is to use the online form.
It is easy to complete, and you get an acknowledgement for your own records, so that you can call them up if the calls continue.
This is the only way that is guaranteed to have some action taken.
Here is the web address:

- Big A| 3 repliesMessage after message after message in this group complains about reporting unwanted calls from the do not call list to the federal government and nothing being done. How come no one suggests reporting it to your State Attorney General's Office? I don't know about other states, but PA has it's own do not call list, and an online form you can fill out to report violations. I have used this in the past and gotten good results, in that they send a letter to offending party and the calls will usually stop. I am sure it will not work in all cases, but if they get enough complaints they will do something about it. Often, the amount of complaints will be considerably less than what is needed to trigger a federal response. This is just something to consider, and making a complaint to both federal and state will bring action sooner.

- lone stranger replies to reporter| 3 repliesSome of us frequently do, when it seems appropriate.
I'm just not sure many people take the advice. In fact, it is my observation that a significant number of posters simply want to vent, and not make the effort to be proactive in solving the problem. We even see posts in which WE are asked to fix their problem. Still others ask questions, but appear never to return and read the answers.
In spite of all that, a portion of the posters do want help, are proactive, and do return. It is for them that we all keep posting here. - Audrey R.| 1 reply(830) 374-6591 calls daily 20 to 30 times a day....Have been told to stop but continues. It is a female telemarketer. I have said to stop calling over and over with no results. When I don't answer the calls are back to back all day.....
- Payback| 3 repliesPeople who complain about these pests get frustrated all the time. Instead of getting frustrated take control of your phones, block their numbers, and report them to the authorities. Just don't answer it. When you ignore them or block them, the worthless frauds on the other end gets frustrated. The frauds aren't machines with no feelings. They have emotions. If they think computers will help them, they are truly stupid. They are actually scared, scared of getting caught. Telemarketers or Scammers, if they do not respect the do not call list, report them. Most probably these Scammers are former telemarketers or call center employees who turned to fraud or they are slaves set up by big frauds whose goal is to scam, and rip people off.
- PaybackThere are two kinds of liars who call people. One is the angry liar, and the other is the silent one. The silent one is sneaky. The sneaky liar will outright lie to you and even laugh about it with his fellow parasites. Just like the angry liar, the sneaky liar needs the support of a gang to give them comfort when they get nervous. When people pick up their phones, they get a silence on the other end. Several reasons why this happens. One reason is that the scammer is busy lying to somebody else. The scammer can't make up a new lie. The scammer is busy eating, talking to other scammers, is in the toilet or falling asleep. No computer will automatically call you unless it gets programmed to call you by a telemarketer/scammer. So to the people who think these callers are cold, they are actually SCARED.
- Payback| 1 replyEven the psychotic criminals and stalkers are scared, scared of getting caught. Remember these are human beings with a beating heart just like the rest of us. Even though they are human beings they are the spineless kind.
- Walker| 6 repliesWhat "Reporter" posted at the beginning of this thread in 2010 is solid advice. At the point of sounding like a broken record, nevertheless, I will say it: Called ID is your best defense against impertinent phone calls. If you see a name and/or number you don't recognize, don't answer. Simple.
If you want to do more to fight back, the simplest thing to do is to jot down the Caller ID information, the time and the date, and report that to the FCC DNC. The more numbers are reported, the more attention the "powers that be" will pay attention to them.
Finally, I don't know if this is my imagination or not, but it seems over the past few weeks that action here at 800notes (and other similar sites) has picked up "exponentially". i have noted also that the complaints about attacks against cell phones have been increasing at what appears to be an alarming rate. Merciful heavens! These people are termites that are swarming!!!!!!!! - notgiven replies to Walker| 2 repliesThere have been reports in the news that FTC has received a lot more complaints. Robocall complaints have more than tripled over the last couple of years and so have the complaints against live telemarketers.
I think that means that there are more calls, not just more complaints. - Ben replies to notgiven| 1 replyProgress, i.e., information gathering, is being made against robo-callers and telemarketers hawking GE/Monitronics security systems, carpet cleanings, air duct cleanings, home remodeling, when folks set up (fact-finding) "appointments" to learn who is actually behind the calls. That's the type of info that Attorney Generals and the FTC need. So let's be proactive!!
- PaybackIf you don't get any calls for a couple of days or even weeks, the frauds are in a scam conference, on a vacation with their scammed money, they are taking rest, their boiler rooms must be getting renovated or they can't stand their own stink. The sneaky scumbags will remain silent for a couple of days and start all over.
