I received 2 calls on our land line and I asked them not to call me back and they called me back.
First call was 9:52 p.m. on August 31, 2014.  She said she was calling from India and wanted information about our computer and internet.
Second Call was on our land line at 10:26 p.m. on September 2, 2014.  As soon as they started speaking I just told them to not call this number.  I did not hear from them again.

202/747-2168, this message was left on our answering machine. He called August 26, 2014 at 1:35 p.m.   He said his name was Fernando  Rodriguez and was calling from the IRS.  He said we had been turned in for fraud to the IRS.  He said to call him right away to avoid being arrested by the Sherriff's Department and avoid paying high court costs.

These calls are very annoying.  We are on the do not call list but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  I get 4 to 6 calls daily.

I received one call on our land line on 9/8/14 at 11:10 p.m.  The number is 956-702-8570

1-430-161-6689 continues to call and say we need to purchase computer protection from them in an Indian voice . They then get nasty when I say I am going to report them. Our number is listed on the do not call list.

Here is the thread to the number that is appearing on caller id. It is an overseas scam that is not interested in the DNCR.

I had that problem too. Very rude telemarketers called me for many years. I finally turned off my phone. I know sometimes one might feel nostalgic about one's old landline especially on holiday weekends but overall the good outweighs the bad in the decision to get rid of it. Prank calls are much less on the cell phone.

I once allowed these calls to get to me. But I realized that it didn't resolve anything. So I learned to find the humor in knowing that they could call all they want and all they would get is an answering system.

Do not call back. Successful means that you just informed them that your phone number is a good phone number meaning it is live and not disconnected.

You gave details about very helpful information.  THANK YOU.
I have reported to the FCC about several mobile phone offenders who seem to make a career of calling me 3 to 4X daily, ONLY on Tues & Thurs. Strange. Maybe they are busy hasslling others the weekdays. I hope the FCC doesn't disappoint as you explained... and perhaps they will actually STOP the pests using number 407.963.2638

It doesn't work.  I have filed HUNDREDS of complaints about this telemarketer calling me every other day for the past 3 years and they continue to call asking me if I want to lower my interest rates, etc....

Actually it does work,  The FTC just shut down a bunch of those callers.  It is just that there are too many to get all at once.  In addition it takes time and resources to trace down the owners to file charges against them.  These things are not resolved in an hour like they show on TV.  Real policing takes days, weeks, months, and sometimes years to gather enough evidence to go to court with.

When I get a phone number who I don't recognize on my LAND LINE I just pick the phone and listen, sometimes there is other talking going on else it is silent. Which I don't answer either way after about 10 - 15 seconds they will hang up because most of the times these are computer generated calls and they are only answered on voice activation.  So if you don't talk they go BYE - BYE. It has worked with a few 1-800 numbers. Good LUCK.
