I can appreciate your aggravation. I had a callblock/screening service thru my phone company for awhile & that still didn't help because all that a caller actually had to do was cough, grunt or make some sound to get thru. It also seemed selective as to what type of phone was being called from. Best of luck to you on your quest.

I keep getting the "unknown number and unknown caller" calls several times a day....if I answer, all I hear is a disconnect. This is on my land line phone at home. I rarely use a cell phone. Any idea how to stop these stupid calls? Any help would be so appreciated.

Private Number? There's no way to put a call trace or block on this type of call. I've tried. I have a page a mile long of this Unknown Name Private Number scam calling which I've submitted to the FTC. I suspect it is a DEBT COLLECTOR using a call block feature where I can't call the number back, block it or trace it. I think this has GOT TO BE ILLEGAL and if it isn't, it damn well should be. It's annoying, threatening, harassing, terrorizing, exhausting and it just really hacks me off. It's not "UNKNOWN NUMBER" it's P-R-I-V-A-T-E NUMBER. Once I find out exactly who this is, I'll be happy to turn the tables on them and collect any and all due fines and penalties.
You can forward your phone to a number with ANI capability, or use Google Voice, or (probably) use anonymous call rejection.
Hope this helps.

I started receiving these "unknown name and unknown number" call at least twice a day beginning last month. At first, I didn't answer but after a while I answered once and some middle eastern accented guy ask for me by name. After I told him he had the wrong number, the calls continued every day, at least twice a day. It got quite annoying so here's what I did. I have a soundboard on an Xcel spreadsheet with a bunch of different fart sounds. I begin by always have that soundboard opened just for when the calls started, usually around 8 or 9 am. When I received these calls, I'd wait until I actually heard a voice on the phone, then without saying anything, I begin playing different fart sounds into my phone. After a few seconds they would hang up. I continued this for a few days until suddenly, NO MORE CALL from unknown name and number. Now, I always keep this fart soundboard open just in case. Haven't gotten another call in a week.
Your phone company should have an option through which you could block unknown/private numbers. Or you could buy a phone that has the features to block them. Stalkers are sick cowards with no spine. Don't worry; don't let them get to you. Most probably the cowards who call you with a private number is somewhere far away.

CID=PRIVATE CALLER Didn't answer the call. No message was left. Infuriates me!
I have anonymous call rejection on my home phone, but yet the crooks have somehow found a way around it.

Your best defense is Caller ID. If you see a name or number you don't recognize, especially a name with no number, don't answer it! Unknown Name and Private Caller will show up very often; ignore them. Just make sure you have a list of real numbers, as for friends, so you don't give them the cold shoulder; for some reason a friend of mine's number will show, but with the ID of Unknown Name.
The name isn't actually part of the initial caller ID stream. Your phone provider has to look it up in a database and add it to the stream. Your friend just isn't in the database.

Can a debt collector block their phone number? Don't they have to identify who they are? How can the number be "private" if it's a legal business? What the heck is going on? help.
