you know guys the only solution to your problems is to entertain the phone calss...specially if the caller is only conducting a survey, or an appointment setting...simple in regarding on survey calls just say "NO" to the survey and a couple of "YES" so you guys will never be bothered again...Regarding to a Appointment call just say yes to everything they say...and simple just dont go/ or dont show on the appointment...and that is the way to lessen the unknown callers/call center calls(did you get my point here guys?)...but regarding on the other calls like, a sales call there is always a qualifying questions there...just say no on the question for example: do you have a credit card?, the answer is no...i didnt have a credit card...and that's it!just pleas use your brains....:|

Entertain the calls? Is there something wrong with your brain?

Get caller id and voice mail or answering machine. Don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. It's so much simpler than this illiterate fool would have you believe.

Having your number unlisted doesn't prevent most Telemarketers, Fraudsters, Fundraisers, Debt Collectors etc. because they all use robo-callers that just call every possible number in sequence. Having your number unlisted however will result in you not being able to get a call through to many (if not most) people who refuse to answer or have blocked calls from Unknown Name/Numbers due to their widespread usage by the above culprits ..I figure :If you're calling me, why are you hiding who you are ? - No I.D. - No Answer !!!

Tell you what, I3(L)arney, you go "entertain the phone calss" [sic] if you're so starved for attention, while we "use our brains" to defeat nuisance callers more productively.

Don't have answering machine, do have caller ID, will not answer ANY number or name I do not know!  If calls come after 8pm, never answer, don't care who it is.  Friends know all the above and use the "  *82 " to unblock their numbers when they call me.  Doctor, Kohls Department store, and other REAL businesses ALL show their numbers.  I do answer them most of the time.  Learn all you can about your phone systems, and the people who abuse it, then use it against them!

We've gotten several "UNKNOWN" "OUT OF AREA" calls the past few days and never answer.  The caller never leaves a message.  These calls come at all times of day and night.  I figure if it's important, they'll leave a message.

    Bittu,

So you're saying that you are using U.S. based VOIP providers? That fits in with what I have found when poking around looking for some of you guys to talk with.

Tell me, who is your favorite provider? Any U.S. based providers that you find to be particularly friendly to what you are doing? I know of a couple of carriers specializing in your "industry" but I'm always interested in learning more.

Do you "dine and dash" - in other words, do you set up an account, make a bunch of calls, then move on to another provider? How do you handle payments to the providers?

There is so much I'd like to learn about this way of making money, and I need a knowledgeable fellow like you to guide me. I would really like to talk more about this. I hope you will respond to my post.

I  have been having the same problem but it was more persistent. A week before I got the unknown calls I got some indian man that called me and when I said hello  he kept saying "  Hello hello, I can't hear you. What are you saying. What?!? I can't hear you. Hello hellooo What are you saying." It happened for a for a few days were this man would call and his number would show up. It was very strange and then after that incident I started recieving unknown calls and they would happen for about 3-5 times a day and just recently I got my dad to answer the phone and they just hung up. No answer nothing. Same reaction that I got when I answered the phone but after my dad had taken the call the unknown caller called once a day and then stoped. Thank goodness but I was ready to report the caller and I am still considering to go to my service provider and see if it is possible to get a hold of the unknown caller and reported to the police.
