"202" AREA CODE FRAUD AND SCAM CALLS

Add 202-500-5557 to the list. Never picked up since the number came up in the Caller ID name section also. Indicated a possible spoofed number to me. Number doesn't come up under a search also.

I keep getting calls from 202-644-8750. On my caller ID it shows a 253 area code (which is in Washington State where I live).  But there's a recording that says "this is a message for Diana Lanham" (not me) and says there has been a fraudulent check on her phone number.  It says to call 202-644-8750 and gives a "docket" number. I've actually called these people to tell them I'm not her, don't know where they got my number, and they usually hang up on me.  But the other day I actually talked to a guy who said, how is it possible you don't know diana Lanham if this is her number.  Argued with him for awhile, then he hung up on me.

I've reported the 253 number to the FCC, and now I'm going to report the 202 number to the FCC.  Somebody's got to stop these jerks!

I received a call today from 202-202-1234 in which they wanted to get into my computer because my server is not permitting calls to go through.  Foreign voices and hard to understand.  I hung up.

Just got one........202-234-3930....hang up, no answer.

this area code 202-657-4595 is a scam they had me send them $250.00

Just had my first 202 scam. Luckily I was smart enough to restrict the account I gave them. Once they said one time fee. It hit me. Didn't even know these call scammers existed. Thanks to this webstie now I do. I can def see how they could get ppl on these things. I actualy applied for several grants for college so it was a confusing process for me to figure out it was a scam.

I got one call from an area code 202 number some time back, I don't remember how long it's been since I got that call now, just the one call.  No message was left but CID read "Joseph Goldberg."  202 is the area code for Washington DC.  So, I looked up 'Joseph Goldberg' on the internet and found a very amateurish and cheesy web page for 'Joseph Goldberg, Attorney at law, specialty in debt collection.'  The phone numbers listed on this fakey website were all area code 509 which is eastern Washington STATE.

I laughed, certainly did not call back, and blocked the number.

I have received numerous calls from 202-202-1234 but until this morning, I always ignored them thinking they were the same old "Canadian Pharmacy" folks I have been fighting for about 2 years.

Anyway, "foreign-accented" caller tried to speak to me about MY computer sending messages to the "Main Windows Server" Hogwash - not the word I used with him. I guess the federal do not call list doesn't apply to these morons.

Here is one I didn't see on your list 202-657-1111. They claim to be from the federal government and that your number has been chosen to receive a $7000 grant that you have to agree to use on medical bills or other bills all you have to do is send a onetime refundable fee of $320 to a guy named Steve Federick and the reason the federal government is using India is because it keeps costs down. We looked up the number and it is actually out of New York. I am a very desperate and single sick mother of three kids the youngest being a very sick and special needs girl herself and guess what yes I fell for it I don't usually do this but I'm seriously desperate and don't know what to do...it's not fair it cost me $330 cuz of the $10 western union fee which by the way I had to borrow that money cuz I really needed that $7000 cuz I can't afford anything my kids need...so now what do I do??

Call the police....there are detectives that specialize in fraud

I just received a voicemail from an Amanda calling from 202-827-0760 stating that she was calling from "District 12 Check Fraud Division" and that she was trying to set up service of process and requested that I make an appointment and have my attorney present.  I know for a fact as I work as a paralegal and am well versed in the laws and bylaws of the FDCPA that no one calls to forewarn you that you are being served with anything, nor do you have to have your attorney present when they do serve you with documents.  Just a complete crock!

Another number not on your list. 202-657-2222.  They mentioned grant and $7000 that I didn't have to pay back from theVA.  I am a disabled Veteran so I know the VA calls from 800 numbers.  I asked about this and the accented guy on the other end got violent with me and hung up.  DO NOT SEND THESE GUYS MONEY. THEY DON'T NEED MONEY TO IDENTIFY YOU!!!

I am the one that everyone keeps calling as they think it's my # when in fact my area code is 405 then 202 not the 202 area code and to date in the last 6 months i've gotten 100's of calls griping at me to stop calling. I've reported to my cell provider, FCC, etc... and there's nothing they can do. It's not my # but I still get the calls at all hours. Please to everyone it's a scam.

Since scammers are all over the place, they show up on this site as well. I think we need a confessions thread where all the scammers and shills can go ahead and confess their wrong deeds? That should take the weight off their screwed up heads cause once the guilt increases the credit card scammers, pay day loan crooks, home grown frauds, Nigerian scam actors etc will feel the pain even if they are hiding in another country. Or else lets let Karma handle him/her and pray that Karma will give the criminal a bad time.
