My wife took the following original call. I took the last one and told him not to call again.
We have received 3 calls claiming we have a million dollars waiting but they need $2000 to get it to us. My wife said we didn't have that kind of money and he said "well how about $1000"!!!

    The calls came from 202-316-4793,
                                 202-580-8133,
                                 202-558-4611

    December 18th and 19th 2012.

What these morin's don't seem to get is that no one wins anything out of the ble, that in order to at least try they first must enter to win ... and also that any real prize/sweepstakes or lottery winning never requires an upfront fee to claim it.

Any such request is an advance fee fraud scam!!! These morons are counting on us not applying common sense and stupidly believing that their scam is legit. But they are the ones who prove to be stupid!

LOL it even sounds like that idiot was was desparately trying to get you to accept his load of bs by lowering the 'fee', he was losing it though. I wonder just how much lower he would have gone.
    They really are pathetic.

These spoofed numbers, I wonder if they belong to organizations and are they unused numbers? Most probably not. When you do a reverse check it shows a particular company like for example some 202 numbers are used by Paetec communications. When you call it back it says Goodbye, so that means it is leased to telemarketing scammers that refuse to take incoming calls. Something similar to Pacific Telecommunications that leased numbers to telecrappers overseas.

The number that called me showed up as 000-000-0000.  They called to tell me that I was one of 1500 randomly selected for a 7,000 grant from the united states government. He said I am receiving this grant money because I have never filed bankruptcy, had a criminal offense, and never filed taxes late. He gave me a confirmation number and a 202-657-4595 number to call and talk to his financial advisor. When I talked to him he told me that I would have to pay upfront a $270 fee  that would be reimbursed to me before I could receive my $7000 dollars. He told me to head to a moneygram center now and call him when I get there so he could send me the grant money.... Well the first thing I did after I hung up was google this number and all of this scam information popped up.  Knew it was too good to be true ! There's always someone out there trying to steal your hard earned money !

I got a text from 202-630-3807 asking to buy an item I listed on craigslist. Sent a check for $4000 and the bank said it was legit. I am pending clearance of the check, but it seems like a scam. I am not sending out any money to anyone and I sure am not going to send the item until I know for sure its real cash.

Please add this number to your list: 202-800-5529

This number calls me 2 or 3 times a day. They always hang up. Unfortunately I cannot simply block 202 calls because I live in Washington DC, so most of my personal and business contacts have 202 area code numbers!
