They use lots of different numbers. Most of the numbers are spoofed. Spoofed means the number that shows up in the display on your phone isn't really the number they are calling from.
You can tell they are scammers by what they tell you. They will tell you that you won a fantastic prize. But to get the prize you have to give them money. Or you have to visit a website where you have to give them your bank account number or credit card number and they use that to steel all of your money. Or they will send you a text message or email that tells you to give them money.
Anytime anyone tells you that you have to give them money to get a prize it is a scam.

Scammers need to be stopped. Where's the cyber cops and people who trace internet websites? How can Western Union not crack the numbers on the Western Union to see the location in which it was picked up?????

Hello, I have received a few of these emails and all I have to say is if these folks have so much of a large amount of money for me why can't they just send me the big lump sum that they say I have won or what ever and let me pay them the small amount that they want after? They know i'll have it and that if they was so kind to give me so much money, why wouldn't I pay them such a small amount? Smells like fraud to me and I am too broke to give away what little money I do get so I'm sorry for you all that did get scammed because I know you all wanted this to be real, but sometimes you have to set aside emotions and analyze the situation. To eliminate all the b.s. just ask can you pay them when you receive your money, if they say no or come up with an excuse why they can't, then you know it's a scam. R6X4
You ask "why can't they just send me the big lump sum"? That's because there IS NO LUMP SUM! You were 100% correct in your last statement that it's a scam.

When are we going to cut the balogna and start sending Mr. Tomohawk to make friendly visits to Nigeria, India, the Phillipines, P'stan, and all other call centre scammers?
Claudia if that is even your name don't waste our time, were you expecting someone here to send you money because we fell for your " i cant write or speak English", feel sorry for me or you just don't have a life. I hope you enjoyed yourself, people like you are not much better than the scammers, you do this on multiple threads, I recognize you every time. Knock it off already.
i may sound dumb bug how did Romeo profit from this if the card was stolen but only hotel and airlines received money not Romeo, had she paid for surgery he would have gotten money, was it all an elaborate set up building up to the surgery? Where did she lose her money that resulted in his profit?? She lost 4 grand, but she did fly so yeah you have to pay for that and she did sleep in hotel so yeah you have to pay for that, but how did it go so far shouldn't the airlines or hotel find out cc was stolen way before she flew, is this a true story?
Sorry Sandra but you are telling a very tall tale, unless you won the lottery or had a beneficiary I dont think you have thousands of dollars to toss around.
You were stupid and greedy and got burned. Will you get burned again? Watch for the emails about some soldier wanting to smuggle some loot out of Iraq or one of the 'stans. Scams abound. But you will probably do it again, because you are still looking for that magic easy fast buck! My father in law was incurable on this sort of thing and died penniless. Ignorance is fixed with education. Stupid is for life!
