Revenge on the Indian Call Centers
- Baksheesh daddyThere are quite a few "instructional" videos on youtube that help with the pronounciation of most of the
vilest nastiest Hindi slurs. I am getting pretty good. You know who ever hangs up first loses. :) - Baksheesh Daddy replies to CWG40| 1 replyYes biology will shut them down when they are closed to create social separation. I believe thats why their calls really dropped off .
- B-Edwards replies to Baksheesh DaddyPraise the Lord this Thread Has Been Resurrected. Bless your heart!
- art| 8 repliesI was stupid enough to fall for their scam once, NEVER AGAIN! They have tried again with their Microsoft Pop up, now i know how to X it out, IDIOTS!
- GregAtTheBeach replies to art| 6 repliesIf you continue getting scam popups on your computer, the problem hasn't been solved. You've still got malware.
- BigA replies to artYour best defense against those is to use an ad blocker. You are probably going to the same website and it is loading through Java Script. An Ad Blocker will help prevent that. You should also clear out your cache, cookies, and history as well.
- An American replies to NeelK| 1 replyWell NeelK if you hate our prosperity and you like being unemployed why dont you pick up and plant your behind in some 3rd world country. I guarantee they wont let you voice your opinion. That would be payback for YOU. Just get out.
- GregAtTheBeach replies to An AmericanI don't know that NeelK will be around to read your reply. He/she posted here EIGHT YEARS AGO.
Get in the habit of checking the posting date before replying. - Rita| 3 repliesWhy are there so many old threads from 8-10 years ago? Time to clean out the clutter.
- CelticDragon replies to RitaGood lock getting that to happen
- SoCalinSC replies to Rita| 1 replyThey can actually be useful, to see how scams and scammers evolve over the years.
- Sally H replies to SoCalinSCAbsolutely! If you have 13 pgs and 12 years of complaints here from real people, that's your best info to know who you're dealing with. Rock on!
- Mrs. John Sharpe| 3 repliesA few years ago my husband decided to play along with the "there's a problem with your Microsoft computer" scam call. He pretended to be a little old person who kept "rebooting" his computer (he's actually a software engineer who was working from home at the time, and waiting for some code to compile). Kept the guy on the phone for almost 25 minutes. And a friend of mine got one and the guy (heavy Indian accent and all) said his name was (wait for it, wait for it...) *Stan Lee*! Which of course she just thought was the funniest thing ever. She told the guy "Look, I use a Mac, not Windows -- but thank you for making my day!" -- and she said she bet that the guy didn't get the joke at ALL.
But it's not just the "Indian" call centers. Just today I overheard my husband on his cell phone with one of the car warranty places, finally telling the woman at the other end "I don't HAVE a vehicle" and she was apparently going, "But... but...." and he said "You called ME. So where's this vehicle you seem to think I have?"
Me? I don't have the patience.... Although I have said to the car warranty people "You called ME -- so why DON'T you know which car you're calling about?" - shloime replies to GregAtTheBeach| 5 repliesno, not necessarily. most of those are bogus, just using a regular pop-up window that tries to look like malware, to scare you into calling their $$$ help line or whatever. just close the window or the app and they’re gone.
- BigA replies to shloime| 4 repliesYou are partly right. The pop up comes from an ad on a web page. Delivered by Javascript. However sometimes people cannot
Many times they have to do a hard shutdown of the computer, restart after disconnecting from the internet and then clear out the cache, cookies, and history. Using an ad blocker would have stopped that from even happening.Quote:just close the window or the app and they’re gone.
