Revenge on the Indian Call Centers

    Hello All,

    I have a foolproof method to extract revenge upon "John Smith" or "Mary Jones" who calls with an accent and wastes your time. I see that the policies of this board don't allow me to post them directly, so go to Google and equip yourself with a few Hindi curse words and their pronunications. Believe me, after a few seconds of stunned silence, they will hang up and you can go back to whatever you're doing.

    My husband is from that area of the of the world so I already know all the tricks. One afternoon I got a call from this very persistent man with an Indian accent telling me that I had come into some money and he needed the details of my bank account. What infuriated me was that he kept saying, "OK dear? OK dear?" I replied, So, my name is dear?" He confidently replied, "Yes." I said in return, "well, YOUR NAME is....." and proceeded to let go with a killer epithet. I'll never forget the quiet on the end of the line, with the exception of the crackling you hear on international calls. I figured that it would be best to quit when I was ahead and hung up.

    Folks, I have heard accounts about how the Indian call center workers laugh at us for being so "naive" and "stupid." They are sucking our money out of our wallets and into their pockets like a vacuum cleaner and disturbing us at all hours of the day and night. Working in a call center is considered a highly coveted job in India because the potential is there for them to make so much more money, so "John Smith" or "Mary Jones" is probably some young kid from a ****hole village whose dream is to call and disturb us. They are taught all facets of American culture so they can pretend that it's really an American (or a Canadian, Australian, Briton, etc.) on the line--right on down to the weather in our towns. Most people have gotten wise to the schemes by now but there's always the vulnerable person waiting to be exploited.

    Believe me, cursing out an Indian telemarketer in their own language may not stop another call center from calling you back but the initial shock of hearing hearing such a nasty word(s) will really be cathartic for you and be much more effective than blowing a whistle into the phone, reporting them to the FCC (they won't care), or cursing them out in English. The best solution of all is to not have the call reach you in the first place. But we know that that's not a reality right now.

    Way to go! I tried a few words too but got the pronunciation wrong [can you recommend a good online dictionary that gets the pronunciations correct??] so less impact. But taking the Indian call centre's US lead purchasers to court has had an impact. Since the call centre's don't indemnify their clients nee victims, one knows one has succeeded when "John Smith" lets fly with a torrent of English expletives and f-bombs. If you ask "John Smith" or "Mary Jones" if they take it in the rear, the stunned silence that follows is absolutely priceless!!

    What is really shocking is that things are so bad in India that scam telemarketing is considered a coveted job.

    I did try something similar to this one time when called by an Indian call center doing a bogus charity scam.   After the transparent spiel,  I asked him if he had children.   He said "yes."    I then asked him if his children knew he was a thief.   After a short silence he hung up.

    Wherever there is corruption, these sorts of things will go on. There are human beings who can be bought and sold for money and there are human beings with integrity who would crush fraud and crime.

    Well Ken, the prosperity you see today in the West was based entirely on something called Imperialism where the West shamelessly looted colonies like India for 100s of years. If Indians now come to the US and "steal" a few jobs, its only payback

    Even if the West never showed up in India, your homegrown scammers will continue scamming your own. Look at the facts. Look at the amount of corruption there. Why can't you change your destiny? Shame on you. If you could scam your own, you could rip anybody off anywhere. Greed and desperation isn't limited to the West. Look in your own backyard and you'll find BIG Frauds there ready to suck blood out of people like parasites. Keeping grudges for something that happened years ago is pretty girlish to me. Real men and women never keep grudges. They overcome it and reach the next level of life.

    Well payback, doesnt look like you read my message at all which was in response to someone "girlishly" complaining about Indians "stealing" jobs in the us. Where the heck have i blamed corruption in India on western influences ?

    right on!  I hate foreign call centers!  And my parents are from India, but I am a US Citizen and wants jobs to stay here in my country, the US!  Anything we can do to torture these telemarketers, I'm down with it!

    NeelK,  You're a bit confused on your history.  The English colonized India and what is now the USA. We have both won our independence, but you have only recently done so. (relatively)  I have dealt with call centers and IT departments that were moved to India.  Eventually, one of two things happen. One: we find someone else (Philappines, China . .) that will do the job cheaper with less of an accent. Or two: for quality reasons the work is brought back to the USA because customers complain.  Enjoy the jobs while you can; they won't last long.

    I tried to get a loan, and then did not complete the online forms because something smelled funny.  As much as a Pay Day Loan is a legal scam already, something seemed a lot more off than a three digit APR!  They started calling me about 10 times an hour.  Some politely hang up when I say I am not interested.  Others start with the screaming and cursing.  I hate to be a nasty person, and am no bigot, but.......  I finally got them to stop calling by using the nastiest most offensive slurs I could think of.  I researched online what would be most effective (Hint - Indians hate to be called any kind of slur that identifies them as Pakistani, hehe).  AND  this part is important.  Call them back repeatedly for a couple of hours.  One lady started crying, and her husband had to start answering.  She had been tough at first with her threats and insults.  By the end of one of my tirades, HE begged ME stop calling.  This sweet couple was purporting to be the IRS and "filed a lawsuit against me".... I am current with my taxes......  Use Caller ID block, and say things your mom would smack you for.  Nasty but it works, and you can get some frustration out.  Also, if you know how, and they are stupid enough to try to send you to a Trojan ridden web site (Microsoft scam) you can send a nice little piece of malware or mount your own Denial of Service Attack.  It is really fun to waste their time, anger them, and damage their computers.  You know that time you spent with them is time they will not be able to actually scam someone else.  That is the real victory when you helped avoid pain and suffering for someone who might have been vulnerable and fell for it.  After all, these low lives can be very good at the confidence game.  If you have an auto dialer - fire it up!  You can also spam their faxes all night :)  You are as unlikely to be prosecuted by Indian authorities as they are to be by yours.  Fact is, you SHOULD FIGHT when attacked.  I fight in the ring, and am taking that approach to any one who comes at me in the ring or in my wallet.  I am a heck of a nice guy, but once you start, it is on.... and I do not stop.  The last thing I want to figure out, is how to scam money from THEM.  Best of luck to you all, and remember - we invented every scam they are trying right here in the West, we first and are still the best at hateful behavior.  Jolly Green Giant - Ya know!

    corruption In Asian countries or African countries is miniscule in dollar terms compared to US.
    WHat exactly is plotical contribution?
    What is lobbying?
    How are judge appointed?
    How is local government assign contract?

    There is corruption at every stage (except at big store retail)

    I have beem quoted "discount price" by plumbers, electricins, auto shops if I paid cash without receipt!!!

    Every time I watch TV,there is "telemarketer" interupting me every few minutes (those are known as "ads") showing me semi clad woman to entice me to buy cars and refrigerators.

    For every product being sold though foreign telemarketers, there is some American Corporation.

    Ummm, pretty sure you have the United States confused with England, Great Britain, or Canada. The US didn't have a navy until it's separation from English Imperial rule, so no means of looting India. No imperial looters here silly. Duh! You must have studied that "alternative" history, you know, fiction.

    Calling them lower than an untouchable usually shuts them up and causes them to revert to their native language.  I also threatening them with air-strikes. from our drone fleet in the Indian ocean.  That's helpful for a little while.   But basically the Indian scammers are more or less bullet-proof.  Unless you have the computer know how to bomb their systems.  I'm told that having a professional version of Team Viewer on a virtual machine can in fact shut down the computer that the  Indian is using to scam you.  But you have to get the Indian to accept Team Viewer as the control device for their scam.  Then you can  shut down   their computer and cause the screen to go black.  Or so I've read. Now, if there was only some way to shut down every computer in the call-center.
