Received call with my own name and number in caller ID!

I got this call today with caller id and our landline listed as the caller. Recorded messages from 'card services' I hung up. Annoying.

I just had the exact thing happen and googled it looking for an answer.

Yes twice and I never answer a call unless I recognize the number.  Also receiving calls from 000-00?-???? It has to be a new scam and they think we are stupid!

I have received the same thing,but I did not answer because I knew I could not call myself.When I had a cell phone I got a bill for all most $300.I called at&t and told them I did not make the call.From my understanding it was just one call.They told me that I did make the call because my name and number were on it.I had to pay because my landline and internet is with them.

Did anyone stop and think,( you get a call,you get a new number )You put your number on the DNC list,and now you are getting more calls.Think about it.

As to your first post. Dispute in writing to where it directs it to be sent on your bill, let them know your filing with the other agency's also. Send it return receipt mail. Tell them your filing fraud charges and also file fraud with the FTC,FCC & CFB:

As to your second post.. Its only a matter of time. The DNC is a database honest business's use. It can't protect you from scammers, frauds and criminals, so put the blame where it lay's, with the criminals who break laws. They have no need to buy a list when all they have to do is plumb numbers in to a dialer or a computer and go for it. I get calls also, but not many these day's. ROT, don't know the number, don't answer - all that does is guarantee 50 million more calls. Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

There's a mobile app that allows you to transmit phony ID's to other mobiles. It's been out there for a while.

My land line hijacked by fraudsters.  What a horror show!  Rachel/Card Services now harassing others and using my identity.  Have filed complaints per your advice.  Hope it stops these scumbags.  Thanks for the words of wisdom.

This might help. My number was s spoofed 3 weeks ago. I reported it to my carrier, my attorney General and etc. I also googled my number to see if there were complaints. There were. So I entered a message on all caller complaint websites that my number had been spoofed and to block or do not answer. I also deleted my information from sites such as white pages,etc. Good luck.

Yes, this has happened twice........today and 3 weeks ago.
I absolutely will not answer......but it is weird!

How do we stop these scams?? I have already had my identy stolen. Just received a phone call from my own number & name, that really freaks you out.
For the second time received an e mail from USPS or so it seemed about a delivery of a parcel that included a link that actually goes to USPS site!! Another scam!

this happened to me today...i am horrified and i called centurylink and they said due to federal laws, they can't do anything and suggested i call the FCC, which i did and all i got was an automated voice saying "if you're a victim of the caller ID spoofing scam, we are aware of the problem and suggest you fill out form blah blah blah at www. blah blah blah.com "  i feel like since i pay centurylink for my service, they should fix the problem...i'm being harassed by my own name and number (my name and number calls me when i'm on the phone with someone) and my name and number calls my home just randomly and everytime i'm on the phone with someone, i hear the sound of the line being picked up..like someone is listening in....it's awful!!! i think i'm going to cut off my home phone and shouldn't have to!!!! so angry!!

Be funny if I had FCCs business CC info cuz I sure give it to the scammers and see how fast they get busted...

I can't understand why crooks are protected by the government and phone companies.  Yet honest citizens can't get help stopping all of this harassment.  I am considering cutting off the landline.
