Called our cell....called back it's GE Capital Bank....

caller said Ge capital bank about recent activity and we don't even have a Ge capital card.

They called shortly after I financed a bed because I financed it through ge so even if you dont have a ge credit card perhaps theyre are the company youve financed something with

The called and said they were "GE Capitol Retail Bank calling for Michael Beal to verify recent activity on his credit card account." I did not return the call as I am NOT Michael Beal.  I'm so tired of the scammers!!!!!!

The automated caller identified themselves as "Symphony Bank" - I think. The message was mumbled. I think it may be one of those numbers used so that they can rack up phone/price per minute charges if I call back.

Not a scam. Just confirming a "6-month same as cash" option I chose when purchasing a piano.  This is the company that is financing that option.  No information was asked for except to verify my name.  They then gave an overview of the terms I had agreed to when signing up.

Legit, despite the phony Caller ID.  I bought a dishwasher at hhgregg the other day, and there was a $45 discount if I applied for, and got, their store credit card.  The card is actually from GE.  They were confirming if I'd actually applied for the card.

Was legit... Had to do with a fridge I recently purchased/financed.

Legit call. Confirming a 6 month no interest option I chose for a furniture purchase. Only asked to verify my name. Nice lady. Even said thank you.

Former GECapital now Synchrony bank. I use care credit and they are my financiers .. It's their billing department.

Legit call - was confirming my purchase on a new card, Only wanted to confirm my name and then provided information regarding my purchase.

Similar to Chuck above. Confirming I made an electronics purchase on a new account.

They called looking for someone not me.  So either someone gave my phone or someone wrote the wrong number down.  Could not reach a person to clarify.

This number called my cell, which is the number I had filled out on the Lumber Liquidators 0% financing offer for our flooring. I called back and they were just verifying that the number matched a real number on the application. They just reminded me of the account and the promo period. I was all automated. Not necessarily a scam, and it actually is nice to know they're verifying applications by checking the validity of phone numbers and such. If I had hit the prompts and it said Jane Smith had made a purchase, I would be able to dispute it immediately.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

This is legitimate. I had to spend some major money on car repairs and I applied for their financing, which is done through Synchrony Bank and this call was just to verify. I am an accountant and a couple of my clients use this company to finance major purchases/repairs for their customers. Used to be GE Capitol. It's real and not a scam, promise.

This is a legit call. I bought furniture two days ago using a line of credit with them. "Thank you for choosing us" and then a detailed message regarding the new account.

Financed part of my purchase at Mattress Discounters a couple days ago. They were just calling to confirm and reiterated terms. Legit
