Any number coming up unknown, out of area, unidentified, or in my case on my cel have been getting 000-000-0000.  I have first hand knowledge as to what causes this as for 13 years I worked at various call center offices starting with Telemarketing.. anytime an autodialer makes calls there are at least 100 individual phone lines running through this machine.. so not one phone is calling you it's several hundred.. what happens is when you pick up your phone.. it gets routed to any available agent on the call center floor at any various computer terminal.. where I live we have fairly small call centers averaging about 200-400 people.. some places can have thousands.. so this will explain why someone may not answer RIGHT AWAY when you pick up.. also a clear indicator this is a company calling or a robocall.. a lot of important notices from your state government will come through robocalls but these also tend to have a number originating from your area or your states' capital.
If anyone is calling you directly that you do not know there are only two possibilities.. 1. they are looking to get new business from you.  2. they are trying to collect on an old debt.  that's it.. most people calling you cannot give a direct number because they do not have one.. they may have a front office/secretary line.. a manager's line etc.. best way to get off a list is be very insistant on asking for a manager.. usually though if they're calling YOU your not an existing customer and they WILL hang up on you and someone ELSE will be the one calling you back..  now I've done inbound work for DTV and AT&T it's different when your a customer calling in on your account.. if an agent is refusing to give you their manager they're being a dick and can get fired easily if anyone pulls up a recording of this call.. all calls are recorded but most are never listened to unless something raises a red flag to management. otherwise calls are randomly selected each month usually out of the 100s and 1000s of calls we take in a given month about 12 are listened to on avg.  when someone is calling you keep in mind this was the most entry level job they could get quickly and easily.. they probably really need that [***] job.. don't have to be a dick.. just hang up..now if you get one person harrassing you that's another story.. call the local authorities.. who can then monitor your incoming calls and they have a way of originating where these calls come from and can then take further action if it becomes something along the lines of harrassment or any kind of threatening language comes up.

I just recieved a call from this number the man on the other end who I could barely understand told me "my personal loan had been approved" He then asked how I would like to make payments. I told him I never applied for a personal loan and asked how he got my information. He hung up on me.

When this number called me and told me my Windows computer had malicious malware on it, I simply said- how can that be?  I have an Apple.  They said "oh.  sorry"  and hung up haha

I too have received the zero phone number. However, I can block it and any number of scam numbers because I use a VOIP line. My provider Teleblend allows me to block any amount of numbers by logging into their web site and entering the number I want to block.
I am not schilling Teleblend, but for $20 a month and unlimited numbers blocked , I think its worth it.

Got the call - blocked the call.  Buy a call blocking phone or device and stop these ba*tards!

I have the Digitone blocker on my business line.  The Digitone is wonderful in that it can block individual numbers AND it can block ENTIRE AREA CODES!   000 has been blocked along with 26 other area codes.
For my home line, I got the new Panasonic wireless phone that blocks 250 numbers.  Awesome!

    Quiet around here...

I have had 3 calls this week.  No messages were left and when trying to return the call I was unable to do so.  Yesterday I did answer out of curiosity.  I am not sure what agency it was from as the caller was speaking so fast...but he did say I had been chosen for "free money".  He wanted to confirm my discover and or visa card.  I told him I was not interested and to please take my number off their listing.  He replied back with, "everyone is interested in free money" and then I hung up.  Be very careful...this is dfefinately a scam.

If you have a smart phone w/apps you can download YouMail app & ditch whatever calls you wish to ditch. Your phone will still to g but they will get a recording saying your phone line is out of service & cannot even leave a voicemail. For your contacts in your phone it will address them by the name you have them stored under. It's a cool free app. I've been using it for sometime due to someone was harassing me but no more after this app.

Me and my family have gotten calls from this # from random scam companies for years.  The latest one i've gotten from this # was one where a man with a thick accent told me he was Mark Zuckerberg (founder of facebook) and told me that I had to pay $29.95 for a 6 month facebook membership, or $49.95 for a 1 year facebook membership and that my account would be deleted if i didn't pay the membership.  I told this man "Do you think i'm f***ing stupid?! i know what Mark Zuckerberg looks like and he doesn't have that type of accent!"

Another 000-000-0000 call and its driving me mad! This is an everyday thing for about 2 weeks. Finally answered it today only to hear an extrememly noisy phone room with someone constantly saying, "hello". What in the world is this crap? When calling back to the 000 number, an error message pops up. If they are so dishonest that they have to hide behind the 000 number, how can we report them and to whom?

The company that called you.
