This is an identity theft scam. They first call you from an unknown number or 000-000-0000. After the 3rd call, I told them I had them traced and this was a scam. I supposedly won a $7000 grant through the US Government Grants Dept and only 1500 people in NY were selected. They want you to call another number, 202-407-9093. I think when you do, something gets installed on your phone line. I reported this to the FTC and my phone company. I told them to watch for bogus charges and any international phone calling from my line. When I researched the number they told me to call, it came back that when you get through you need to pay $300 via Western Union. You supposedly get that fee back when you get the grant money. I told them, "Is that before or after you try to close my bank account?" They try to hide behind the secrecy. I had asked for an address to claim the monies. They won't give me one. When I called, the 202-407-9093 number rang twice then rang busy. Once I told them I had their phone number traced, they called right back from 410-999-1325. It rang, connected then said GOOD BYE. When I called 410-999-1325 back, which registered under Michigan Gas as the name on my caller ID, at 12:04 EST on 6/22/13, I got a voicemail with Brittany's name and the box was full. When these scams go down, they use other people's phone numbers or names to try to hide behind. In this case the number was exposed giving the Feds their ammunition. What makes this guy think that with his heavy Indian accent, I would believe his crock of crapt.

I told them they didn't know who they were dealing with. I only had arrested a ring of hackers which resulted in the largest identity theft case in US history! The book entitled, Through Angela's Eye the Inside Story of Operation Firewall chronicles my escapades. My computer, phone, bank accounts and identity are heavily watched. They will not get to me but I will get them. You don't mess with me.

An Indian guy keeps calling me from this # every day. I talked to him twice and told him to stop calling me. He said the gov't is trying to give me $7000 in grant money and he actually knew my name. I told him I believe he's pulling a scam and to send me something by mail so I could look it over. He kept saying "No, let me tell you..." I hung up and then he called right back. My daughter answered the phone using a Russian accent and then put the phone by the toilet and flushed it. She had fun messing with him.

I too have gotten this call and nobody there.  I have started reporting all calls to the do not call registry.  The Federal Trade Commission actually called me 2 wks ago trying to shut down a number that been calling me regularly........... for medical alert system.  They wanted to know exactly what they said to me etc. and said thank you..... the info you have provided has been very helpful in trying to get these people.  SO REPORT ALL SCAM NUMBERS TO THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.  They really are working for us to shut them down.

They called again yesterday at 1:44PM.  Their number was blocked and my phone did not even ring.  I did not know that they had called until this morning while checking my phone

FOLKS - GET REAL.  If you want this to stop - BLOCK THEM!

Panasonic now has a phone that blocks 250 numbers - I have it on my home line.

For my business line I have the Digitone blocker.  The Digitone is wonderful in that it will block individual phone numbers and it will block ENTIRE AREA CODES.  Currently, I have 29 area codes blocked.

I should mention that I have had the same home number and the same business number for 20 years and I am on every call list imaginable.

Complain all you want or become proactive and STOP these telemarketers.  It's quiet around here.

I got this same number at home, and this guy calls saying that there is a problem with my computer when there isn't anything wrong with it.
I try to find out who he is, but he says he couldn't hear me. So, I hung up and 2 seconds later he calls back.

Anyone with a legitimate reason or business would not call with a fake number...The number of complaints here is mind boggling. I have had several calls from this number and never answer, nor will I ever answer.

Here's the sad news if you use You Mail...... their privacy policy.  They will do the service as explained but they will be able to pull data, personal info etc. from your phone and social sites, etc. YouMail will:

...  Collect key information necessary to identify you as a unique user and to establish your account. This includes your telephone number(s), e-mail address, name, other personal information, and, if you opt-in, can include information from your address book and your social network connections....

Kept getting calls showing 000-000-0000 on my caller id.  I can't block it, because it's an invalid number.  Answered call and it was "Mike" with an Indian/Pakistani/Terrorist accent telling me the old song and dance that my Windows program on my computer was "broken."  Yea right, I told him.  I have an Mac, which doesn't run on windows, so this phone call is a scam.  Told him to eff off, so the scammer hung up.  I'm sure they'll be calling again in a few months.

Not fooled you are 100% correct about the phone companies. They actually make money on the calls because if either you pick it up or your answering machine "answers" they get paid. Imagine something like a minimum of ten million calls of this type each day.   It is ka ching for the phone cos.

My 8yr. old has a cell phone. If something happens to him, and he needs to contact his mommy/911. Not that my son is ever unsupervised by an adult at all times, due to his age, and a 16yr old would be unsupervised by adults. You should think before you speak. My neighborhood has not a payphone 1 for several miles. Most of the time he has no minutes, but I still have him carrying it with him everywhere. Wheather it has time or not, it can still be used to contact 911. Not to mention if my child is taken by some sick ass, gps can track my baby. One more thing, do you ever watch the news??? Our babies are not safe anywhere. Not in school, not in church, and sometimes not in thier own homes.
