- Modupe SarrattI considered the calls from 000-000-00 for numerous dialing my number as harassment because when I answered the calls the person did not respond to my saying hello and when I hang up the call I received another call back from the same number to have to turn off my cell phone for while not to receive another call. Please remove this cell phone numbers 443-534-3843 from your calling list to DO NOT CALL LIST.
- Ramoth_v2These calls are not from real business - they are from offshore call centres and dialed via computer. The number on your display is a fake/spoofed number. The machines generate a fake number to appear to be calling from, but are almost always labelled 'Unknown Caller'. All these calls for fake 30-second surveys; won a cruise; timeshare; won a trip or prize; lower interest rates; credit card emergency; un-initiated calls from 'tech support about your computer'....are ALL fakes by organized crime. They run or hire call centres (some real businesses) and they use phone listings, social media, or have the computers dial number after number - for one purpose. To try to get your identifying information - name, address, phone number, credit card or income level, and most recently pretending to be a telephone company trying to get your utility account number. Once they get a 'live' number, they try over and over to get this data which is used to create Fake IDs and commit more fraud in your name! (Think - any data you would use to get a credit card or open a bank account.) Check the RCMP Top Scams website.
To get educated on how these work, do a Search for "CBC Marketplace, To Catch a Telemarketer' (worth waiting through the commercials). Don't call these numbers back, don't press 9 or any other numbers to speak to an agent or 'get removed' as this just verifies your number is real and you get MORE calls. The scammers sell/share/rent the lists to each other. Real businesses respect the Do Not Call Registries; crooks don't. Just pick up and immediately hang up before the machine connects you to an operator (it makes them think the number has been disconnected). Report details (including date and time and type of scam attempt) to your anti fraud unit. In Canada you can email info@antifraudcentre.ca.- Caller: Scammer

- DC00000000000 called twice today on home phone with no message left. I didn't answer. I don't answer calls from #'s I don't know.
- HomeWhat rules must telemarketers follow when they call?
The CRTC has rules for telemarketing calls. For example, at the beginning of a call, the telemarketer must tell you why they’re calling and identify on whose behalf the call is being made. Telemarketers may only call you within specific calling hours. There are also rules limiting the use of Automated Dialing-Announcing Devices (ADADs).
What happens to a US telemarketer who violates the Canadian National Do Not Call List rules?
Telemarketers from the US, and other countries, making calls to Canadian consumers must still follow the CRTC’s Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules, including the National DNCL Rules.
If a Canadian organization hires a telemarketing agency outside of Canada, and there's a complaint against the organization, it will be investigated by the CRTC. If a telemarketer has violated the Rules, the CRTC may impose a penalty of up to $1500 per violation for individuals and up to $15,000 per violation for corporations.
Remember that whenever you receive a telemarketing call, you can ask the caller to add your phone number to their internal do not call list.
I received a telemarketing call that I think was fraudulent. What do I do?
Even if your telephone number is on the National DNCL, you may still receive fraudulent telemarketing calls. That’s why it’s important to always be on your guard. If you receive a call that you think may be fraudulent, contact your local police or The Canadian Anti Fraud Center (1-888-495-8501), a national anti-fraud service jointly operated by the RCMP, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Competition Bureau.
How do I make a complaint about a telemarketing call?
If your number is on the National DNCL, and you still receive telemarketing calls more than 31 days after you registered, you can file a complaint.
You can also make a complaint if you have received a telemarketing call that breaks any of the Telemarketing Rules, such as calls made to you outside of allowable calling hours, or calls made using an Automated Dialing-Announcing Device (ADAD).
The full set of Rules can be found on the Telemarketing information page in the Consumers section of the CRTC website. You can also read a condensed version of the Rules in the National Do Not Call List and Telemarketing Rules.
You can make a complaint online or by phone.
Online:
Go to the National DNCL Web site
By phone:
Call toll-free 1-866-580-DNCL (1-866-580-3625) or
Call 1-888-DNCL-TTY (1-888-362-5889) only if you are calling from a TTY device.
When filing a complaint, you must provide the following information:
name and/or number of the telemarketer
date of the telemarketing call
nature of the complaint

- MidNYteStorm replies to conchytonkerWhy would an illegal operation follow the law?
- MidNYteStormThe number alone tells me that this is an illegal operation. People can complain about the Do Not Call Registry all they want. But the fact is these companies do not care about the law.
- Tim EvansI also have gotten calls from 000 000 0000. I wish they would stop.

Today I've lost track of the ijits who've called me. This is a new one. NSA??? Who knows. I don't pick up unless I know the number.- Caller: 1-000-000-0000
- robert sorjanenthere is never anyone on the other end.I have had 4 calls within an hours time today. This isn't the 1st time this has happened.
- John replies to ChristalWhat planet are you living on,,, there is NO such #.
- JimI have received several of these calls. Today I answered just to have fun. They claimed that my computer address (the MAC address of a network card) was connected to my telephone number and it generated an error.
Being a security expert I challenged him (some Indian (from India) who barely spoke English). I demanded his name and the computer address that was generating the error.
After verifying that this was not my computer address (or my router for that matter), and told him I am a computer expert, he laughed and said I was full of sh*(t (yes he cursed at me).
I called him a curry stinking g*$ta, and told him I was going to contact the authorities, as I had traced the phone call. I heard him cursing me out in the background as he hastily hung up.
How much fun is that???? LMFAO!!!!
My advice - just don't answer it or pick up/hang up immediately.
You might talk to them challenging for the exact company name, their name and ID, and any other info you could use to research them. They already have your number so you arent giving them anything they don't know by picking up (except that you are home and will answer the phone.)
If you are willing, a challenge to bring about government and/or legal action against them is a good move I think.- Caller: "online pc advisor"
