- cross-reference posterI have received several phone calls from a company that claims to be able to lower the interest rates on my credit cards. Since I don’t have any credit cards, I pressed 1 to speak to someone to get my name taken off the calling list. When I got in touch with someone I spoke to a man and explained to him that I don’t have credit cards and want to first off make sure that no one else has a credit card under my name and also get my name taken off whatever calling list they have. Once I explained this, the man promptly hung up on me. I tried to call the number back and it was disconnected. I got this call from two different numbers on two different days. One of them was 321-779-3962 and the other was 954-535-9912. Also today (3-13-2008) I got a call where the number came up as all 0’s (000-000-0000) and the name came up as unavailable. I didn’t reach the phone in time but I know it’s got to be the same scam. When I did a search for the first two numbers back on 3-6-2008, I realized that there were way more than these 2 numbers associated with this scam and I started reading through the blogs and collecting information.
This is what I've gathered so far by looking at the websites that pertain to these scams. Just so we're clear, I'm only reposting information from other posts I've seen regarding these scams. I've filed a complaint on the Do Not Call list website. The information to do that is posted below. If someone knows a better way to report this please take the information that I've posted here and any additional information that I might have missed and include it with the report. I will be posting this message on all the websites I can find that have to do with this scam and as I find more information I will add it to the post so it won’t necessarily be exactly the same each time. As far as I’m concerned you can copy and paste this on another site to warn others.
There are far too many numbers associated with these scams than can be listed. They come from numbers from almost every area code and some erroneous ones I am listing some of them in order to create a cross reference for when a search is made for one or more of these numbers:
207-439-9039
207-498-0741 (this one has also been noted with the international code 44-207-498-0741)
207-512-2178
207-512-2186
207-989-6079
239-263-5860
239-658-0747
270-922-2017
303-280-8689
321-207-0023
321-779-3962
352-357-4151
850-271-8240
850-475-5122
888-226-5185
904-779-8982
954-535-9912
954-623-4620
954-752-3816
954-920-5550
In some cases the call may come through as Unavailable and the number will be all zeros (000-000-0000).
This is the info I've gathered so far regarding these scams, if I’ve missed anything please post it. I will be posting this message on all the boards I can find that report on this scam. I will change and up date the message as I gather more info.
Update: I just saw a post that states that there is a link you can go to and record your own phony “This number is disconnected recording” so that pretty much answers how they did that. Here’s the link: www.payphone-directory.org/sounds.html
That some or all the numbers are possibly listed with Bell South and an e-mail can be sent to Bell South regarding this to info@connectbellsouth.com . Some of the numbers may be listed with Verizon.
The people who call go by several names:
1. Heather
2. Shantel
3. Jessica
4. Jerry (a female)
5. Angel (also female)
6. Thomas Ellis
7. Dana
Again these are the one's I've collected. If anyone has recieved one of these calls from someone giving a name different than the one's above on the list please post it.
They are running at least 4 different scams:
1. Offering to lower APR on credit card
2. Offering to extend car warranty
3. Offering free vacations
4. Confirm delivery of telephone directories
5. Selling pills
Same as above if you got a call with a different scam please list it.
They are claiming to be from different companies, or at least that is what some people are reporting. I contacted 2 of these companies and spoke to someone at http://www.allaboutu-vacations.com/ and First Investors Svcs https://www.fifsg.com/default.aspx they both claim to not have anything to do with this scam. I don’t have anyway to verify it or not.

Again if anyone has a better way to report this, please take all this info and do so and also post it so others can do the same.
Here’s an e-mail address for a woman who calls herself “sue” and claims that she will teach you how to sue these people for a fee. suetelemarketers@yahoo.com I provide this for informational purposes only. I personally wouldn’t go this route and would advise others to be wary of this, it sounds like another scam.
There’s another person who is claiming that they want to file a lawsuit against the company First Investors Financial SVCS who he / she believes is the company that is making these calls and asks people to send any info to their e-mail address: bustunsolicitedtelemarketers@yahoo.com . I’d be wary of this as well. There are e-mail scams out there and you don’t want to get caught up in that.
Also, I do not want to take credit for other’s people’s information.
Here is a list of the websites from which I have gathered all the above info:

There is a post claiming that the calls are coming from the PDC and they are simply trying to verify delivery of phone directories. Here is a copy of the post and the website where it can be found.
https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-303-280-8689
Product Development Corporation - 21 Aug 2007
Product Development Corporation (PDC) is a national distributor of telephone directories. PDC utilizes phone calls to confirm delivery of telephone directories. PDC does not leave the survey questions on an answering machine. The Federal Do-Not-Call legislation does not appy to organizations that are not soliciting (selling or marketing something). PDC is not soliciting.
PDC uses delivery verification through phone calls because of the cost and quality of this quality control method. This type of quality control process is done by all the major companies in the distribution of telephone directories. Having said this, PDC is aware and respects that there are individuals that would not like to be part of this type of survey. As a result, PDC has created its own internal Do-No-Call list. If you or anyone else would like to have their phone number removed from our calling lists, please email the phone number you wish to be removed to DoNotCall@teampdc.com.
I would like to reiterate that delivery verification calling is a quality control standard in our industry and that each company that does this type of quality control is responsible for their own list. As such, even though PDC will no longer contact all numbers that are requested to be on our DoNoCall list, you may be contacted by others that do not have this capability.
Product Development Corporation
I have researched this as much as I possibly can and I’ve realized I can’t possibly go through all the notes and gather all the relavent information by my self.
There are thousands of these numbers and notes from each one. One thing is clear, they are running several scans and most of those scams are run by the same people.
Here are some of the websites with lists of all the reported numbers. The sites go by area code. Just replace the 3 digit area code at the end of the link with the area code of the number that called you and you’re sure to find the number on the list and notes from several other people who got calls from the same number.
I am still working on this list, it will take a while. My goal now is to cross reference all the searches and ultimately create a bulletin about these scams to post on various different websites ie: craigslist.com, myspace.com, ect. The reason for this is I figure if it get’s spread around enough and enough people know about the scam to not fall for it, then their operation will fall apart and the calls will stop.
This message is constantly being edited and changed, feel free to add whatever information you can and re-word it in a more comprehensive manner if you like and repost it. Thank you.

https://800notes.com/Area-Code.aspx/1-850 - RobYes, 207-439-9039 is my UNLISTED PRIVATE phone number, but evidently some scams are spoofing caller id and using it!
Just remember, you can report the number, BUT there are NO records at the local switch office that shows my number called any of you! It's a matter of caller id spoofing, nothing more!
We've been so disgrunteled about our telephone privacy being destroyed that we started a blog to share our story and list resources: http://www.calleridfruad.info - JobsworthThis number called me today and caller ID said private. Several family members come up as private when they call so I answered it. It was a male caller named Rodrigo (apparantley) who said that he had an offer for me. To be honest, I could hardly understand what he was saying as he had a thick accent. I said an offer on what and he told me he was selling prescription drugs for cut prices.
I find this to be highly illegal. For all I know, these drugs are fakes and harmful to the body if consumed. If he killed someone with these, he'd be on a murder charge so I hope he realises this. I told him that I was not interested in buying prescription narcotics in mass quantities and that if he called me again, I would be reporting him to the police for drug dealing. I hung up before he could reply to me. - endless resourcesThis p.o.s called my phone trying to convince me that he was my friend and that we had exchanged e-mails a few times, the caller named john or so he said anyway needs to take a long walk off a short pier, actually I wish I could find this (( john)) and pull him apart like a brick of lego's, some degenerate with a 4th grade education and pimples all over his face- calling from God only knows where......my ending comment.... be at one with God john because your going to need him........
