Received 2nd call from this number today.  Picked up because I'm on "do not call".  Heavily accented man said he was calling from Microsoft because they have reports of a virus they needed to fix and I should get on the computer so he could fix it.  I didn't of course and he was very persistent and annoyed with me.  Tough!

Relax.  Having your IP number doesn't give him access to your computer.  Your IP number is broadcast to every web site you visit.  In other words, it's your internet address.  Nothing more.

HOWEVER, if you downloaded some application at these swindler's request, then it's highly likely you are now infected with some form of malware.  You should do a thorough scan with your anti-virus, and your anti-spyware software without delay.

All it means is that the robo-dialer got too far ahead of the live swindlers.  In other words, there were more potential suckers available than there were available scammers.  Google "predictive dialers" to learn more.

Most knowledgeable people on this forum maintain that answering these kinds of calls in any form (personally, by voice mail, or with an answering machine) causes the auto dialer to mark your number as "good", or "live", and that you can expect even more scam calls as a result.

1234567890 called us at midnight, disturbing our sleep. They call every half hour throughout the day and part of the night. But calling at midnight is the last straw of home invasion. I had to unplug my phone to get rid of the annoyance.

I just got a call also from this number saying something about they have reports about my windows computer. I knew right from the beginning of the call they wanted to get into my computer.  I said to her I only have apple computers, she tried to argue with me saying no you don't. I argued back saying YES I DO... She finely got fed up with me and said  good bye.. I knew it was a scam from the beginning. Stupid A** people. I feel sorry for the dumb people that fall for calls like this.

just got a call from a woman with a very heavy accent, sounded like she was from India ???

I got a phone call and the caller ID said Kasim123.  I answered and a foreign female voice said "Oh no nothing" and hung up.  Have no idea what this was all about nor where the call came from.  Has anyone else got a call from Kasim123?

Just answered the call (so you don't have to) and it was the "epilepsy foundation national" saying they were doing a pickup in our area and asking if we had such items to donate. Date is August 14 2013.

Got a call today - 123 456 7790 - said they were from Windows, and their records indicate malicious software that goes beyond what Norton could pick up. Indian gentleman (?).  Wanted to know what kind of computer, which WIndows version I had and how old it was.  I wanted to know how they knew I had viral infections, but they didn't know what kind of computer I had ... I knew then to dismiss this

Just got this call. I never answer the phone if I don't know who it is. How does one acquire a number like that anyway?

that same number called today and told me about that and asked if i was Mrs. Myers i made the mistake of asking me or my grandma they said my grandma now their going through her files this has to be illegal

This Number is Calling me too so far I have not been able to hear him when he talks, Today I just Hung up on Him I was wondering if he is a telemarker eithier way I am getting annoyed.

I live in Australia and have regularly been phoned by this number of 123 456 7890, which also comes up saying Overseas number 123 456 7890.
I always answer (so I can tell them off) but they hang up after I call, within a second of answering. Today, they phoned at 2pm Australian time, and a lady actually spoke, and asked for Mr and Mrs Simpson (which I am not). I said 'sorry you have phoned the wrong number'. There was a delay on the phone, and when I said this, I heard her yawn quite loudly (so may have been early where she was calling from?) and then hung up straight away!
How do we get them to stop calling? I'm so sick of getting these types of calls, we are on the DO NOT CALL REGISTER, yet they keep getting through. Something needs to be done about them, cause these scams are unacceptable!

Go to the boating supply store.  Get one of those hand held air horns with the small can of compressed air attached.  Next time they call talk real softly, say you're having a hard time hearing them and ask them to turn up the volume on their headset.  Then give them about a 4 second blast with the air horn right into the phone.  Then scream F you and hang up.  Then maybe they'll get the point and stop bothering you.

That sounds like a fun thing but there are side effects.  I read a post some time back where a lady did that and the next thing she knew her phone was ringing every few minutes with people yelling at her,   telling her to stop calling them.   The scammer apparently gave her number as the new call back number and so people started calling it.  She finally got a new number from the phone company to stop the constant ringing.
Best thing to do is just don't answer them or hang up.  Nothing is going to stop the basturds anyway until our beloved government gets off of their ASSets and make the telephone carriers more accountable for facilitating these scammers and scofflaws.

There is no way to ever stop the illegal calling practices that originate from other countries. There is not a "no-call-list" in the world that you could put yourself on that would stop the calls.

Here's the real deal...They have programs that auto-dial phone numbers in series. If someone answers...great. If not, no loss, because the computer doing the dialing could care les. When you do answer however, the system patches to a human...or a low life scum sucking parasite...whichever the case may be.

Now they go on the sales pitch with whoever answered, hoping that they get at least  few suckers everyday. So the best way to stop them...is DON'T BE A SUCKER! you have every right to refuse to answer the call, or to refuse to give them information. Even if it is your real bank calling...you still have every right to refuse to provide sensitive information over the phone.

Now here's where it gets fun...

They are annoying you right? Well play their game and annoy them back. I make a game out of seeing how long I can waste a telemarketers time on the line. The more of their time you waste, the more angry they get. And I found an unexpected benefit to dealing with calls like this. The more you waste time of the scammers and telemarketers, the more quickly YOUR number gets blacklisted on their end, meaning the avoid calling you because they know you are going to waste their time.

I get calls from this number several times a day but I never answer it. They even call early in the morning and late at night. My first thought is that something is wrong in my family until I see the number.  It is more than annoying.
