- NotBuyingIt| 3 repliesThey may have a new number now. I got the call from 202407610. I got two calls from this number. Both times, it was a woman with a heavy accent with lots of noises in the background. The first one told me I won $7000+ in grant for a loyal citizen award. She said she worked at the verification center for the US grant department and every year they give this grant to 1500 people randomly selected from a survey. I told her I would not be giving my bank information and she said that's fine. She wanted me to go to walmart, dollar store, cvs to get my money. I assumed she wanted me to buy a gift card and put a certain amount on it, so she could take my money. She had my name and my address right, but while I was talking to her I looked up the "loyal citizen award" grant and saw all these posts about it being a scam. She asked for my age and I asked why she didn't have that information. She told me it's not in her database.
LOL! The US GOVERNMENT doesn't have my age in their database??? I told her my age, but promptly told her that she would have to send me a document in the mail to prove it was legit. Then she hung up. The second time, another woman with a thicker accent that couldn't pronounce my name right called from the same number. She said her name was Christine. I just said "Oh, this is the scam." She acted like she didn't hear what I said, so I repeated it louder. "SCAM! This is a SCAM!" and then she hung up. LOL. Don't fall for this guys. If the government has money for you, they will send you a check in the mail.- Caller: US Grant Department

- LeroyI got a call from 202-745-2222 and it was some man with an Indian accent really trying his hardest to speak English stating He was an employee working for the federal reserve in Washington D.C., So I let him difficulty explain a little more until I finally said,"No thanks!" The man got upset and mocked my "No thanks" like a childish child and then he said, "[***] you!" I laughed before saying "Nice try!" and then I hung up. :-)

I was also told I have to send 200 for a moneygram but I'm to call first after I have the money. My boyfriend says yes there are free grants out there - Ellen replies to Ellen| 7 repliesI just did a lookup on the numbers and they seem to be legit. They did come Washington DC.
