- AustinTexasThis caller says he is Microsoft and has detected a virus on my Windows computer, causing issues at their server farm. Of course, this is all LIES..the background noise is so loud it sounds like they're at the stock market floor making the phone call. Anyhow, they ask you to go to a webpage so they can "fix" it...DO NOT DO THIS...they will infect your computer instead! I yelled at the guy and told him he was going to jail. He hung up after telling me to shut up numerous times. I bet he has a headache after I yelled at him that loudly!

- sandy replies to Annoyed 2Said my windows computer needed an up date when I asked what Microsoft office they were working from he said it was his tec support that called. I told him he was fake and would get into trouble as I was calling Microsoft and complaining about his calls. He asked for the number I was going to call at Microsoft and I told him he should know . He got very flustered when I told him I was reporting him. Has a foreign accent.
- Brandi StewartSomeone from 202-768-7680 called my mother and tried to convince her that she had a virus on her computer that they could fix (for a small fee of course). I have attempted to call them to make sure they remove her number from their list but I keep getting people who don't speak english very well and they just keep reading from their script no matter what I say. This is a SCAM

- JAMESDepending on my mood, this is what I do when I have time to kill.
After the caller finished his ( caller is always a male, most of time, with India accent) warning statement, I will calmly say " Well, I am sorry to learn that you got error message from my computer. Since my computer is working fine, it must be your server not functioning well, or you got virus in your system. I can fix the problems for you. I will only charge you $59.95 to fix the problem. So please give me your credit card number". By this time the person will either hang up, or (the dumb one) gets totally confused. Then you can play game on your victim and get some fun out of it. - Sarah in VAJust got a call ad they told me they were an online tech company..I asked which one he said, an online company for your computer. I told him I did not have computer and hung up LOL

- Doug in NewportSimilar experience -- but he almost had me convinced because when I challenged his authenticity, he was able to recite to me what he said was my Windows security code, not known to anyone else. In retrospect, I realize it was a set-up: When I told him I didn;t know how to find my security code, he led me through the steps. When it appeared on my screen, with my name attached, he read it back to me, letter-perfect. Fortunately, I got an important call coming in at that point and hung up on him. Then I looked up the number on this site, and the scales fell from my eyes.
