- ShelbyI've been recieving calls from this number and also 620-662-8870. They ask for someone not associated with this number, I tell them that and to stop calling but they keep calling back. So I stopped picking up the phone and check caller ID when I see their number. Sooner or later they have to stop. If they don't, I will be filing a complaint for harrassment. Suggest everyone else do the same to these scumbags.

- AmusedSo I gave these people the fifth degree about an alleged debt they couldn't proved I own. Now they're calling from a different number. Such losers! They even admitted they did not have the correct person who owed the debt in the first place. Then wanted me to give my personal information to them over the phone. I was born in the morning, but not this morning.

- Lee replies to laughing all the way| 7 repliesPlease remember that recording a conversation without the knowledge or consent of the other person is against the law and not admissible in court. As for telling them not to call, that is only a verbal request they can call back in TEN days. Put your request in writing. Also, acting immature and playing games only reflects badly on yourself, should your debt go to court. There are two sides to ever story and believe me when I say, the collector will remember every detail of your little escapades. No judge will look kindly on a person who acted like a child. Be an adult, request their contact information and report to your local Attorney General (if the debt isn't yours) set up a payment plan or offer a settlement.
Please rember if their following the law to the letter and your acting the fool, who's story is going to be accepted? - Lee replies to laughing all the way| 3 repliesPlease remember that recording a conversation without the knowledge or consent of the other person is against the law and not admissible in court. - Chas.AI get occasional calls from these weasels, with plethora of #'s. I was divorced several years ago, nothing was financially out-of-order for either of us, and I handled everything through my attorney, including taking care of all joint items, which were all current. I believe there were perhaps one or two minor things which attorney let "slip between the cracks," but this way beyond any period of limitations. These guys buy-up old items, long uncollectable, for just a few ¢'s on the $'s. Autodial from who-the-hell-knows number of phone lines, with all sorts of area codes - and apparently if no answer, may or may not leave a recorded message on voice mail. If a "live" pickup is indicated, a live rep. will get on and try to coax, threat, cajole, etc. something from the respondent. If rep. gets on-line, next live answer may be ignored, so this is why people who answer often don't get anything from other end. Literally 100's - even 1,000's of dialings, and if one of their live persons can collect something a couple of times a day, they make money. If you see call coming in and then press "end" and cut-off while ringing, never get an immediate call-back, as would be case if someone actually calling you one-on-one. This is simply scum bags using modern technology to their advantage. Their technical capability is well-evidenced by fact that if you dial-back a # out of curiosity, will often get auto "disconnect" message, which one would assume could only be provided by the server where actually the case.

- prettyladyI keep getting calls from these people also and they keep saying that I owe some debt from Wells Fargo....I have never in my life banked with Wells Fargo. When I told them that they said that the only way they would stop calling me was if I verified the last 4 numbers of my social security number and I laughed so loud and I asked them if they were crazy or what....I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I told them if they thought I was stupid to give them any of my personal information. They keep calling from all kinds of phone numbers and keep harassing me. I just do not know what to do.

- Star replies to tuespm449| 14 repliesMy cell number is being bugged by these jackals so I am going to assign them a group (ass2) which has been assigned "no ring" and if they keep it up I will get a disposable cell phone as my phone number isn't that important. I also am trying the "do not call" list again since the FDA couldn't get it right the first time! Goodbye Ass2 and Jerk Club! I am never going to answer. Never.
- Smack Down on Collectors replies to LeeYou note we should write them however, if your calling for the wrong person and have not mailed us in writing as required by the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and the CDCPA here in my State, then how the hell do we ask you to cease and desist in writing.
What I do is call your State's attorney general for prosecution in violation of these Acts because pal, there is no way to be fair to a consumer because in the case of a wrong number, there is no way in heaven or hell you mailed a notice to that consumer. Did ya throw a dart at the phone book and get lucky enough to find the right person's address out of 2 Billion people. Impossible so your post is ridiculous. And if you want to take me to court, I am pretty sure I can get rich under a malicious prosecution counter suit.
Sometimes you might take a hint that after 3 years, Mr. Roybal is not related to me and I am not going to ask you again to remove my number. It's harassment plain and simple and I don't have to write you to ask you. Your not supposed to do it in the first place, hence, why the attorney general office can fine you say $10,000. They don't like it anymore than I do and I pay taxes for them to hang you out to dry. - Smack Down on Collectors replies to Chicago, ILIf you make contact, the SOL starts tolling again from that date forward. Ouch. Just like it was brand new.
I don't even answer. I pay the $1.99 on my phone bill to get the detailed calls because 3 years down the road I want to prove we did not speak.
Just thought I would let you know. Of course, if the bill is not yours nor are you the debtor, big difference there. - T replies to LeeDepends on whether your state. Some states only require one person to aknowledge that the conversation is being recorded. Check your state laws.
- DOUCHE HATER replies to LeeYou are a DOUCHE
