- JanetThese people called, left a respectable message BUT the person they are looking for has my same first name and a different last name. Obviously not me. I will not be calling them back.

- HelenThis number calls me everyday. For the past 2 months, I had another number call me regarding collections on someone with the same first and last name but different middle name. I told them that it wasn't me, and they immediately hung up. Now, I have this number calling me, which I am sure is about the other person. URGH. With 2 young kids, I don't have time to go searching for my phone to pick it up only to find out it's them. I am going to visit the Verizon office today for them to show me how to block this number.

- gertieI got a call on this number today, on two other PRA numbers yesterday, and several other numbers were used this week to call here. These bottom feeders have been calling and calling for at leest 18 months. Nobody had ever even picked up the phone. Yesterday, I wrote up the complaint for our Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office, and sent along a log of all their calls. I think they have called me from 18 different numbers, and have collected another ten numbers they use from reports on this site. My complaint will probably be forwarded to the Virginia consumer protection office, but I wanted the Pennsylvania office to have a record. What a scam, the big bank takes a tax deduction for the write-off, and then they 'sell' an acount that no longer exists, and take another tax deduction for the difference between the size of the unpaid debt and what they sold it for, and then pond scum like Portfolio Recovery/Anchor Receivables, who paid maybe $50 for something that does not exist, turn around and harass us for ten times that much! And apparently, it is all perfectly legal. Portfolio Recovery are slime, but they are not the only scammers here. The "law" that allows this sort of garbage ought to be ashamed of itself.

- Chas.AThe only thing which could have caused these weasels to call me is either some pure mistake, or possibly some minor item WAY beyond any period for legitimate collection. If it is the latter, it would be following a divorce 10 years ago. I had an attorney handle everything, and all items were minor in $ amount and all were current. Either there is a an error, or it is possible a minor item could have slipped "between the cracks," although I doubt it. Either way, no possible legitimacy. From what I understand, these people buy old debt portfolios, for ¢'s on the $'s, far beyond limitation statutes and many erroneous, and then autodial MANY phone #'s. Where they detect a live answer, someone there picks-up, and tries to coax and threaten the person into paying something. Subsequent live answers go unheeded, and sometimes their system leaves a voice mail message, sometimes not. One of their smarmy representatives can make a good living if he/she makes a collection or two a day, perhaps one for every several hundred calls they've autodialed. These are simply bottom-feeding slimeballs who now use technology to do what they've always done, with this automation making it possible to bother more people more often. But same technology makes it easier for us to ignore and cut-off with minimum bother.

- CamieThese people keep leaving messages saying I must respond by 3:30 Eastern time or face the consequences. Well, I don't respond to threats so I've not returned their calls. Let them file in court. I'll respond and they'll have to show the court records I KNOW don't exist. Can't get a judgement against something that doesn't exist.
