- LC replies to DO NOT CALLI don't even have a Capital One card and I'm on every do not call list, too! WTF.
- Wickedwitch2 replies to suegrActually,it shows up as CAP SVCS (meaning services, I imagine).
- tee| 1 replyCalled @ 6:30 am! Grrr
- LoriIt actually showed up on my caller ID as SCAM: CAP SVCS. I actually thought it was funny that it admitted the SCAM part.
- CTYes. I have Comcast and the caller ID on my phone said, SCAM: CAP Services. Maybe Comcast is injecting the "SCAM" in front of the ID. If they are, good for them. This would really help their business. Comcast allows you to block only 12 numbers. I had to buy a Digitone Call Blocker. I block all toll free area code numbers so my phone rarely rings now. But, this one got through. So, I'll now block it on the Digitone.
- SavvyAre you people ALL NEW to this game and these sites? These calls have been going on for YEARS. They are all SPOOFED calls, meaning they originate somewhere else from where they say or the number implies; the numbers are FAKE, HIDING the REAL numbers which are likely calling from OVERSEAS in places like INDIA, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA, AFRICA, ETC.
These people are ALL CRIMINALS, there is NOTHING LEGIT about these calls. They are LYING to you; these are ALL SCAMS.
There are NO FREE CRUISES, they will NOT LOWER ANYONE'S INTEREST RATE ANYWHERE and they DON'T CARE about your OPINIONS on ANYTHING!
These are ALL SCAM, SCAM, SCAM CALLS.
If you talk to them, it just encourages them. Your number will be part of their database to keep trying. The best thing to do is to hit "Ignore" or "Stop" on your cells, or to pickup and hangup immediately WITHOUT ANSWERING. Same goes for landlines. The less you engage, the fewer calls you will get; trust me. I've been doing this for several years now. Still get the calls, but get fewer repeats.
I got the version of "Lowering Interest Rate" today at 8:51AM which is a further violation of the law (Caller before 9AM or after 9PM.) Only reason I answered was I was in room with phone w/o caller id and was expecting a call from someone.
Because these SCAMMERS are FOREIGN CALLERS, not only does US law not apply, but they cannot be traced and CAUGHT or "Punished".
HOWEVER, if enough people register complaints with the DNC List, then eventually authorities will BLOCK the current US number they are using/spoofing. Unfortunately, they just look for another number to spoof with, so the calls start up again within a few days, but at least that slows them down for a bit.
SO, REGISTER THOSE COMPLAINTS withe the DNC List, Each and Every time. It doesn't stop them, but it reduces the number of times they can mess with you.
These sites (800Notes, Mr. Number, etc) are great to check if other people are getting the same calls and get an inkling of what they are about, but DOES NOTHING TO STOP THEM. Only complaining to the FEDS - the people with the authority to act - HELPS. So REGISTER and OFFICIALLY COMPLAIN, People! (www.donotcall.gov/complaints)- Caller: NOT LEGIT ENOUGH TO ID THEMSELVES
- Deb| 1 replyThanks to these postings I learned that if I called back there was an option to opt out. And I did!
Like another responder, I did speak with a human and when I persisted in questioning to what credit card they were referring to, he hung up on me. These calls have been coming in daily!- Caller: SVCS
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Savvy replies to teeYou should DEFINTELY Complain to the Federal DoNotCall List, if your number has been registered with them for at least 30 days already.
IT is ILLEGAL to call before 9AM.
Although EVERYTHING about these calls is ILLEGAL, registering a complaint with the Feds that they are calling at those times of day will get action taken even faster (The Feds will "lock"/BLOCK the number they are SPOOFING WITH, forcing the SCAMMERS to start over, find another number, reprogram their computers, etc.) Make sure you indicate "6:00" and "AM" on the DNC Complaint Form; that will definitely get the Feds' attention.
If you're not registered, DO IT NOW. You can start officially complaining after 30 Days.
Good Luck. - Don Sancho| 1 replyI received a call from this number at 5:38 a.m.!!!!
My caller ID only has the number and no company name.- Caller: Unknown
- Savvy replies to DebYou have NOT "OPTED OUT"!!! You have simply told their computer that they've hit a "live" number and now YOU WILL GET MORE CALLS THAN EVER!
NONE OF THESE CALLS ARE LEGIT! These are ALL CRIMINAL ENDEAVORS! By being Naive and falling into their traps, You are making the rest of us GET EVEN MORE CALLS!
DO NOT ENGAGE with these Jerks. Simply PRESS IGNORE on your cells (DO NOT ANSWER or let got to voice mail, if you can; this registers with their computers that they have a WORKING NUMBER.)
On Landlines, Pickup/Hangup Immediately to stop the ringing when you can. DO NOT answer, or let it go to the answering machine, if possible. Again, this tells them they have a WORKING NUMBER and then they will harrass/pursue you further.
THEIR INTENT is IDENTITY THEFT/CREDIT CARD THEFT, to the less you engage with them, the better for ALL of us. - Bob replies to suegr| 6 repliesCAP SVCS is Credit Account Protection SerViCeS..... just another telemarketer fraud scam.
It's usually "Heather" on a recorded message.
Don't answer, this business continues to call, whether you are on the Federal DO NOT CALL Registry or not. - MN GraceI have tried being nice to these people. The idiots at the end of the call cannot get you off the list. This is a phone bank scam. I am going to report it to the State of MN.

- RJHave been recceiving calls from "Heather" at Account Services (CAP SVCS) for several years,
ever since I signed up for the Federal DO NOT CALL List. Hmmmmmm....
My State Attorney General's Office has a suggestion for an OPT OUT listing that goes to a telephone recording. The recording asks for name, address, and SS number to be left on a recording !!!! Are they nuts!!??
Caller ID is your best bet. If you don't recognize the number, don't answer it.- Caller: CAP SVCS - 206-445-6131
