- whammcgGot a phone call saying someone was trying to use a (previously cancelled) AMEX card on a different account for a $2k purchase. Sounded like an India-based call center. Told me to call back at 866-216-1072. Called Amazon customer service first, they had removed the card from their records when I first cancelled it and had no activity on that card. Scammer. Call Amazon Customer Service first if you get these calls -- 1 (888) 280-4331

- jhnI got the same call this morning from Amazon from a lady with a strong accent. She didn't ask for any personal info or ask me to verify anything. She had my name, email and last 4 digits of my cc #. Said someone set up an acct on Amazon w/my cc # and tried to purchase a gift card. She followed up with an email from Amazon confirming the fraudulent acct was deleted and the pending sale cancelled. I called the CC co. and 3 other fraudulent purchases were made yesterday. I think the call was legit. Why would a scammer alert me that my cc was being used fraudulently?

- JackCalled our office phone number demanding to speak with me to authorize a purchase from Amazon. I wasn't available at the time and a colleague answered. They were very rude to her and demanded my personal phone number. She wouldn't do it and asked for a number to call them back at. They gave her Amazon's customer service number, and Amazon has no record of this call. Amazon claims that they would never call an account holder to authorize a payment, so I reported this clear phishing attempt to them.

- RonnieMiddle of the night I received call to verify my payment of my purchased. Not the exact amount of the actual purchases, he just need verification. I called Amazon for clarification and was told that the call wasn’t from them. I didn’t give him the actual amount and end the call.
- Caller: No idea
- JoelThey don't ask for personal information, they have order details and call to confirm anything suspicious for your protection. If you dont have a record of a purchase it is probably because Amazon removed the order to protect you. Check your email , because they send a notification informing you of them reversi g transactions within the time period of the suspicious order. Amazon may also make you change your password via email (not over the phone).

- Aunice| 1 replyThis number is to an Amazon verification center based out of Washington state. I contacted Amazon's main headquarters from their website, Amazon.com. My issue was taken care of from the main line. I did it this way because I was not sure of this number. But it is legitimate.

- SabineSame thing....very early in the morning call comes in from 206-508-4014 claiming to be from Amazon wanting to confirm an application...asked if she realized what time it was...not sure she understood English enough. I sure as heck did not understand much of anything.

- ChI received a call from this same number today 6/20/18. Same claim (Amazon) that they needed to verify my info for a purchase in the amount of $150.00. I checked my acct. w/out calling and realized it’s a bogus call. I have blocked this number.
- Caller: Amazon
- PCBPretty much the same scenario as everyone else. I called Amazon and they said they DO NOT make phone calls or leave messages like this. If you get a call like this, PLEASE immediately check for activity on the card they inquiring about. I was fortunate to catch it that same night as pending charges, contact Amazon and have my card cancelled.

- MattCalled and said they were from Amazon and verifying recent purchase. Could only say it was "books", not the specific titles. Won't leave a message and sounded very unprofessional. Checked my Amazon and there are no purchases for books on the date she told. Scam!

- MI received a call from 206-508-4014 yesterday morning. I didn't answer because I don't answer numbers that I am not familiar with. No voice mail was left. But I did get an email from Amazon stating they were trying to get a hold of me about a purchase and would call back in 10minutes. So that time I picked up. Like all of these posts, it was a woman with an extremely thick accent. She was very hard to understand, and there was no way for me to verify that it in fact was Amazon and not a scam. She asked me if I recently purchased gift cards. The words were difficult to understand, maybe it was her accent, maybe it was the connection, I don't know. I repeated "Gift cards?" then answered "No" she then repeated "No?" I've heard enough rumors about the scam phone calls where they just want you to say YES so they can record it, that I immediately said "I'll call you back" and hung up. I looked up my amazon account and called the number. This lady sounded American, and the connection was much better. She said they DID send me the email, but couldn't see any info as to the phone call I received, and had no information what it was about but assured me they would call back. It is over 24hrs later and I still have not heard back.
Today I tried chatting with Amazon and that person was clueless as to the phone call yesterday. I still have no idea if it was really Amazon or a scam, and I'm completely annoyed...- Caller: Amazon (maybe?)

- JI just got a call from this number, like the others it was a woman with a heavy accent calling for me about a purchase. They had my Amazon information with an old debit card that I recently canceled after a fraud purchase a couple weeks ago. Told them that it was a canceled card and they said to contact my bank for possible fraud. I don't think anything will come out of this due to them having a dead card. Sounded real, but didn't give any information just to be safe and just said that I did not make that purchase and that the card was canceled.

- dillon-gehrigmany many calls. asked to speak to husband who was with a therapist. they kept calling about a gift card.. 7 times in an hour. i finally picked up and knew it was a scam. but they kept calling. info no doubt from some phishing scheme. indeed amazon e mailed my husband and said a 200$ purchase was attempted via his card but they sensed it was suspicious and did not allow it...
