I got a call from the number yesterday. A middle eastern accented man said he was from amazon.com and wanted to verify my address. I told him if he was from amazon he would already know my address. He then asked if he tells me the address would I say yes or no. I agreed. He had my address plus the item I ordered. I texted customer service and they told me they had no record of a call to me. But about 2 hours later the charge for my item appeared on my credit card for the amazon purchase made the prior day. I'm guessing it was one of the sub agents amazon uses sell products.

I received three missed calls back to back yesterday from this number, right around the same time I had FOUR fraudulent charges to my credit card!  Do not give anyone at this number any personal information!!

I had a phone call from this number today also claiming to be a rap from Amazon wanting to verify a phone number for one of the credit cards used on my account a few months back. This credit card in particular belonged to a friend (lets call him John Doe) and he used his card to pay for a purchase on my account. As I said, that was months ago. The rep called today claiming to be from Amazon and asking to speak with John Doe. I informed her that I was not John Doe, she then asked me if I was Maria LastName. I said yes. She explained that she wanted to contact him to see if he approved of charges made on amazon for amazon gift cards with his credit card. Being that his card is saved on my account and I definitely had not ordered gift cards, I assured her that those charges are not approved. She kept insisting i verify a contact number for him so she can verify with him. I immediately cut her off and refused to verify any information and told her I would contact Amazon myself to ensure no fraudulent charges have been made, to which she responded with "thank you, goodbye" and hung up.

I contacted Amazon, and they have no record of anything she mentioned.

This number called 2x and both times I just hung up, as I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. After coming here and seeing that it may be Amazon I called them back. Adam answered on the first ring. I placed an order for a bunch of computer parts, and used my friends CC whom I am building the system for. He called because the name on the account was different then mine and the shipping address. No foul play, as they were just matching up names with cards.. I explained what I was doing, and he had a record of all of my purchase info, so I know that it was a legit call.

He just sent me a email after our call.

If you get a call from this number, it IS Amazon.

I received a call early this morning from 206-508-4014. A woman with a thick accent said she was calling from Amazon.com about a gift card my husband ordered. She wanted to speak to him. She asked if I was (first name) I said "I am his wife." She gave me the last 3 numbers of a credit card and said it was used to order a $100 gift card and did we still want it. It was ordered using a fictitious gmail address. I said no and she urged me to call the credit card company. She said she cancelled the order.

The credit card company said a few hours earlier, the account was "tested" for a $10 purchase.

LEGIT. It was amazon, calling to verify gift card charge on on c.card. all good, I made them pull up info only amazon would have and they were able to, and then the transaction info they had all matched.

I got a call from 206 508 4014  seattle washington.  They hung up as I answered it.  I am so glad I didnt get there before they hung up.  It only rang 3 times.

same here... I could not understand most of the caller... a woman with a thick accent.  Trying to validate some sort of a $110 charge I think.  I said no such charge was authorized by me.. she hung up. This tactic is getting out of hand.. makes me wonder why our useless Govt is not responding to such complaints as there are several tax payer supported agency staffs that get paid to investigate these complaints, yet do not.  We are on our own and no one cares.. even the companies that are compromised as their business models are based upon "for every customer lost, 5 new ones appear."  Welcome to 21st century American commerce!

Amazon and their 3rd Parties do not make these types of phone calls

got a call from this Number same Krapp. so called Amazon so they could note it on my account in case I get a unexplainable charge later.

I got a call 206-508-4014 from this number at 4:40am!!!! a man with an accent asked me about a recent Amazon order.  He knew the amount of the order and the last 2 numbers of my credit card and obviously my telephone number.  I told him i wasn't talking because of how early it was in the morning.  I called Amazon to see if the call was legit and they didn't have a record of the number.  Scary how much info get put on the internet.  Wonder if there was a breach?

After seeing this site and the mixed replies, I decided to call amazon's customer service directly.  I was informed that they make no such calls.  I'm locking down my account and various financials as I type this.  They called my cell number but the call dropped.  They then called a family member of mine halfway across the country, then not getting the reply they wanted, called my cell again.

My husband received a call from Amazon, which is what showed up on our caller ID, she had a very thick accent asking him about an order for a hole digger. He had not ordered a hole digger. He could not understand anything else she was trying to tell him, but he made it clear he didn't make such an order and she hung up. He called back that number and they answered as Amazon customer service, and a male with a strong accent answered, asked if he could speak to someone with clearer English and he was given to another person. That person was asking for information to find information about the previous call, but my husband refused to give out any information, but did give him his email address. The man on the other end said without his information , they could not see what it was about, he refused and call was ended. Not sure if someone was using his card to make this purchase from another source and was using another address for delivery, we will never know. He did go to his Amazon account to make sure that someone wasn't hacking into his account and there was not an order in the purchased area or in the shopping cart. Hopefully when he told them it wasn't his they cancelled it. I then called the US customer service number that Amazon has on their web site and they said that is was not their number but will enter this for investigation. While talking to Amazon, he checked his email and got an email from Amazon stating that that someone was trying to open an account with his MasterCard and they closed that account and cancelled all of the orders, then customer service did state that the letter was from Amazon. So, this must have be a legit number from Amazon!

GOT THE PHONE CALL like the rest of you.  I Didnt answer.  Instead called my CC company I use for online purchases.
They confirmed that an attempted charge from a company called AMAZON AMAZON.CA had just tried to authorize a purchase.  I have not purchased anything form amazon in 4 months.  I cancelled my card right there.  Will be calling credit bureaus tomorrow.

I got a phone call from a lady at this number asking me to verify an order placed on my account. When I asked what I was verifying she said she couldn't tell me. They then asked me about an email address that wasn't tied to me Amazon account, and they asked me about a credit card I didn't have and then got surly when I asked for a manager. The credit I didn't have was a credit card opened fradulently I found out an hour later and I don't know where these people got my account information. There is something fishy about this number and I am currently investigating what I can about it because I called Amazon directly as well as contacted their investigation team and neither party had ever heard of this number. Anyone here vouching for this is likely suspect of fraud themselves and I'd recommend deleting every post they make

It is Amazon verifying orders. I placed an order for an expensive camera lens and less than 5 minutes later, I received a call from a woman with a heavy accent verifying the order. I asked to speak to a person who spoke English, and this person confirmed it was Amazon. A follow up email to Amazon was my second confirmation that the call was from them.

Got the same call, asked to verify an order.. weird though as I do not have that phone number linked to the account. I lent my card for my brother to use and they managed to dig up the number as if they got it from the bank..

They told me what the order was for and such and I just messaged my brother and he did confirm the purchase so I told them yes, shipped soon after.

I would not send any personal info to them or verify anything on your end, as people can make it look like they are calling from this number but it is not actually that number..

They called me today after placing a gift card order on one of those prepaid cards I got from a contest at work.  They did not ask for any personal information, just wanted to verify my order and he told ME the last 3 digits of the card used.  Id say this is a perfectly legit call and you should go ahead and answer.  It could save you from some fraudulent charges on your amazon account.

Same as other callers, received call from a man with a very thick accent said he was calling from Amazon Verification Department to verify I had placed the gift card orders and gave me the last 4 #s of the cc used and asked for me by name. The only reason I answered was because I had time to check this forum and see it was Amazon, I literally was on chat with Amazon regarding the gift cards at the exact moment they called. Normally gift cards are received within 5 minutes of order being placed at this point it had been over 5 hours.  Gift cards were for $500 & $300, once I verified with the man I did place the orders he said it would take 2 minutes to receive the gift cards by email and sure enough here they are 2 minuets later.

The account I purchased the gift cards from are not under my name and my phone number is not listed however my credit card is on file with this account so I assume they got the information from my credit card company or they have an actual verification system to prevent fraud. It makes sense, account is not in my name but my card was used so they need to verify.

My recommendation is to answer the call because as a few other people noted they found out someone has been committing fraud on amazon with their credit cards.

This number (206-508-4014) called my home yesterday asking to speak to a person who lives here and it was the  same
story that most of the others on this website have detailed. It was a man with a foreign sounding accent who asked to speak to the person who lives here (J) (name is different than mine), and he is an attorney  J spoke with the foreigner but gave him  no info. What is troubling to me is that the phone number that was called was MY home number which is unlisted.
We don't have any idea where the foreign man got access to my number or my friend's Cc's last four digits. He hasn't ordered anything from Amazon  recently. I never order from Amazon.
