- annoyed in ChicagoI have received multiple calls from 210-892-1308 which I did not answer. No messages were left so I didn't bother calling back. They left a message today so I called back. I was on hold for 7 minutes before I hung up. I searched the company name Central Asset Bureau and didn't find anything except thus page which I am glad because its more proof that it is a scam. I am going to be contacting the Attorney General as well.

- LaurieEverytime my mom gets a phone call and I know about it, I come straight to my computer and google it. I live in Alabama and she lives in Florida. She got this same phone call, telling her she needed to call this number (210) 892-1308 Central Asset Bureau. Gave her a claim number and I called them back to find out what was going on. They told me same thing, that she owed on a credit card that went back to May 11, 2009. That she would either have to make payments or go to court and be sued. That she had 24-48 hours to get back with them. If not, they would see her in court. I acted like I was her. They also didn't do a good job and all, verifying that I was really her. They did have her address. These people are relentless at what they will say or do, to SCAM you, to get your money. Sad that you can't trust anybody in this world these days.

- Deb Heater| 1 replyI am receiving cell phone calls from a company called Central Asset Bureau in Texas. They left the first message two days ago, stating that I had a court file number that was being filed in my county for a payday loan that I never paid back. I called it back and was told by a Susan there that their client had
$1068 due in a payday loan that was never paid back and they wanted immediate payment today!!
I told her that I had paid all my payday loans and needed to know who the client was. She stated that
she didn't have a name??? that the clients legal review was just that it was a payday loan. I was asked
for my checking information and given a figure to settle it out or make payments on the total due.
I told her that I needed confirmation of the debt, signed documents, etc. by email or I wouldn't pay her
anything. I had dealt with this two years ago and it was complete fraud! She said she would call the client and get back to me. She never did.
I called two friends that are parallegals and very good at their jobs....and I called the bank. They are said that they wouldn't give this person any money or any more information and they would tell her that unless they send you some proof of debt first, that you were done taking their calls. The bank stated
that they would put a watch on my accounts for me.
I called again today and was told by Susan again that her client was not going to send me confirmation of the debt and they needed money up front before they would send me signed documents showing that I ever took out this payday loan and when they got payment from me..they would send out proof and email withing 48 hours... I told her I was very uncomfortable sending money to someone I don't remember borrowing from and who refused to show me that!!! She said that I would be getting a subpoena at my front door in the next few days...What can I do???- Caller: Central Asset Bureau

- Alfalfa replies to Deb HeaterConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- GJohnsonI received a call minutes ago from a woman who said she was a secretary making calls and that I had a creditor who intended to file suit against me. She left the same phone number (210-892-1308) and left a "case number." I called the number and the man who finally answered after almost 8 minutes said A company called "Cash Advance Finance Network " was filing suit against me for a payday loan in the amount of $1298.12. He wanted to know what my intention was. I told him since I have never heard of him or this company my intention was to do nothing until someone sent me information in writing detailing who this company is, and all information about any loan they say I made. The next sound I heard was a recorded "Goodbye."
I called back and sat on hold again for another 5 minutes the same person answered. I asked him what was the point of his call. He said he was letting me know that a suit was going to be filed and all the information would be in the summons. I asked for the name of the company he represented and once again I heard a recorded "Goodbye."- Caller: Central Asset Bureau

- Christian Strohecker| 1 replyExactly the same type of call, however this call went to my mother's house, she then called me and told me that I need to grow up and act like an adult. Nice thing to say to your son that just served over 17 and a half years in the military!!! I didn't give the company any information, so the guy (Rodd Peterson) who handled the call for Special Investigator Tracy Furell started acting like a real p***k on the phone, so I finally subdued him and he said that he would call the company and see what they could do to avoid court proceedings, mind you, they kept telling me that they were a litigation office and not debt collector's, however they wanted like $1,000.00, he gets back on the phone after like 5 minutes and says that the company would take a one time hardship pay of $221.06 as long as I could pay them right there over the phone. I know that alot of companies will settle debts for lower amounts, however we are talking about a big difference in amounts here. So when I got off the phone I immediately phoned the BBB and FTC there in San Antonio, which neither of them have heard of this company. Thank you everybody that has posted these scams on here, let's shut these a******s down!!!

- Stroh72 replies to Christian StroheckerSo why can't anybody seem to shut these guys down??? Why doesn't eveybody that is using social networks online these days all post in their own words what has happened to them, or someone they know, on their status updates or whatever. This way it could send warning to all of their friends, and their friends friends, and eventually it would get to the scammers that everyone knows what is going down, they should eventually be forced out of business, right???
Signed,

- phillipThey tried & called me on this number & yes I do have a payday loan from the place there calling about the only problem the company they say is suing or filled a compliant on me I have an agreement of repayment with. They could tell me no information at all only that I would be getting a summons this is 100% a scam but there's little you really can do cause they don't gone you any information of location or anything for you to go on & they have to send you information.
- In IllinoisI am glad I am not the only one! Good Grief! I have been contacted by these people numerous times over the past TWO YEARS!!!!!! They don't ever stop calling! First it was a foreign gentleman calling me from some shabby little office, you could hear others in the background mumbling the same stuff to other poor victims, Saying I was to appear in court for owing money like the rest of you have stated. I got so ticked off I actually played along with them once and got them all so frustrated because I kept telling them I couldnt understand what they were saying and I wanted to speak with someone who had an English accent. (sorry if that offends anyone, not meant too) They could not give me a single "American english speaking person". He actually started yelling and cursing at me, it made me feel so much better knowing i could cause them some grief after all the annoyance they have caused me. Then tonight I just got this "restraining order" claim phonecall. I have been to the police, and they have told me to ignore it several times. TWO YEARS is a LONG time to ignore these people, there has got to be something that we can do to get them shut down!!!! I have debated about changing my number for a while now, but why should I have to change my number. The Government surely could do SOMETHING about these annoying absurd phonecalls!

- TBWI received a call today from this number. The lady claims they would be sending a restraining order to my home and to my job, Then she says they will tell me over the phone who filed the restraining order and whether it was civil or criminal.

- MiaI have been receiving these threatening phone calls for over a year always from different numbers but all state action lawsuit against me and that they have filed a restraining order also that i have 24 hours to respond. All calls have been rude and when I hang up on them they call back to my work and threaten my co-workers and tell them I am a deliquent bill payer. I have reported everyone of the call on this website as well as filing a formal complaint. I am sick and tired of the non stop calls can't something be done? I always ask for them proof and they say the dont have to provide me with anything
- P.MI got the same call today (3/14/12) from a guy calling himself Joel, told me to call The Central asset bureau, 210 892 1308; and he told me the same nonsence, his no was restricted. I have received so many calls last in 2011 and 2010. I had applied or a loan in 2008; online pay day loans and they claimed that all their information was stollen and was sold to these guys. I have even received threats from some asian in Pakistan or Indian threatening me, that if I do not pay the loan by a credit card, they already have a warraty of arrest on me.
The guys sold all my information including social security no, bank details, address, my references, so they have started calling my friend who I had put down as my references.
LESSON: DO NOT APPLY FOR THE ONLINE PAYDAY LOANS; ITS QUICK MONEY, BUT THE PRICE YOU PAY IS TOO HIGH AND RISKY.
But thank God I am born again and believe that God is my vidicator, hence NO PLANS FORMED AGAINIST ME SHALL PROSPER!
