    I received an automated call from this number Stating that my husband was. Recently involved in some check fraud charges And this needed to be handled immediately Or they would contact his employer And send the police to my residence! Windows update scam
    Received a call today from this number, gentleman with an Indian accent stated that my computer was not being updated with the latest Windows Updates and asked me to please turn on my computer so he could walk me through the updates. I told him no thank you and please don't call me again. He has repeatedly phoned me over the last 3 months with this same information and tried to get me to turn on my computer,

    I keep getting calls from this number saying they need to serve me with papers.  First they started calling from an "unavailable number" saying the same thing, but after reading all the comments regarding the number they leave for the plantiff, it is a scam saying they are trying to collect money from a payday loan. However, I don't owe anyone for a pay day loan, so obviously I'm not calling back.  This is not a legit business from what I understand after reading all the info on the AG's website and the government's website about the Fair Credit Act.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    These idiots have been calling me for almost 3 years now.  They have papers to deliver...blah blah blah.  If you listen closely, the message says to call if you have questions.  I don't have any!!  Therefore I do not call back.  I spoke to them ONCE almost 3 years ago and told them to bring on the papers.  Apparently they took a wrong turn because they have never shown up.

    They call my cell and work and home and my daughter and my ex who I divorced over 15 years ago.  Sometimes, all of these phones ring at the same time...gotta love a robo call.

    Got a call, asking for owner, said he did not work here anymore and that I was the owner. He told me he was with a collections agency that could get our customers to pay within a week or two. I told him we were not interested and to take us off his list. He shouted "YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME" and then started talking about his offer in a louder voice, ignoring when I asked him to take us off their list multiple times... so I hung up.

    Total scam.   Typical call of a debt scammer, saying you've written bad checks.  If you had written bad checks the bank would inform you, not some scammy debt collector

    Block their calls.  Do not talk to them.

    I wonder who in the heck these lowlife jerks think they are.  They seem assume they have power over those they abusively call.  I despise them to the extent that I block them with a Panasonic DECT phone (250 numbers), with Phone Tray (unlimited call blocking), and I also block the current top 12 callers through my telephone service provider.  This summer I decided the harassment was ending.  I can't remember the last time one of them was actually able to ring my phone.
