- mkingsI have received over 60 calls from this fools. They even call by 20.34. in the evening. I know fully well that government offices don't stay open that late.
- Esp viper replies to DebraParkinWell considering I've never lived in bc. And I have an Alberta number. They are a [***] scam. Who pays health care?
- SeleanaIt is Revenue Services of BC. They are MSP Collections. It's not a scam. Due to phone numbers changing so often, they are trying to locate people who owe money. Call them back, verify who you are and have them disassociate your number with the person they are looking for. The calls will stop.
- Caller: Revenue Services of BC - MSP Collections
- Call type: Debt collector
- Rob from 1 page backJesus, I switched from a landline to a cell in part to get away from these calls and now they just started again. There's no way 'they' could know I changed the number, they must be calling for someone who is not me.
- Not Unreasonable replies to Alan| 1 replyThey are actually Revenue Services BC, collecting for MSP. If you're actually reasonable with them on the phone, they'll be reasonable back - if you're behind they will do a payment plan to help catch up.
- just meI just relieved a call but the thing is my husband pays our MSP from his work ie benefits as well....so if it where. True and not a scam than why the calls. It's got to be a Scam
- its a scam replies to Not UnreasonableI called cra, and msp yesturday, and LET them know this number is calling, i asked them if i owed anything to msp or cra as my mps is free cause im under the 23,000 income bracket the police will be investagating so heads up scammers you will be caught
- D| 1 replyThis is MSP BC.
The reason this number is not listed on their website, has to do with cell phone towers and the way certain calls get redirected when using cell phones.
I called MSP at the number listed on their website : 1 800 663-7100
http://www.gov.bc.ca/health/contacts.html
I got on the line with one of their representatives and spoke with them about this phone number. I explained to her that it was not listed on their website and this was kind of a red flag for most people these days.
She verified the number and explained to me the technical details of the situation with cell phone tower redirections. According to her, they had recently had a meeting about this issue with the cell phone numbers displaying and were having problems getting around it. Apparently sometimes numbers from Texas would come up as well.
I verified that I did owe money to MSP and made arrangements to pay quite in advance of my due date, which she had no problem with.
I understand some people here hate the fact that our MSP is being handled through an American corporation and that maybe some of our medical info is being stored outside of Canada. But really that has little to do with the question "is this a scam or not"
This is not a scam! If you do not believe me, the answer is quite easy. Pick up the phone, and call MSP at 1-800-663-7100. Ask them about this "strange scammer number" is. See what they say.
Then maybe pay your damn bills.
P.S. shame on every person in here who trash talked Debra Parkin. She is the only one in here willing to put in the 15 minutes required to verify the truth and try to inform others.- Caller: RSC on behalf of MSP
- Call type: Debt collector
- Anonymoose| 1 replyEveryone needs to calm down. The number itself is legitimate. Now... if you've never lived in B.C. or you don't believe you owe anything please phone 1-800-663-7100
If you just got a new phone number and/or you don't owe/have never lived in BC and you're getting phone calls then chances are someone else did/does and had your number before you (or entered in wrong information on purpose). I changed cell phone numbers when I moved to BC and got absolutely blitzed with phone calls from collection agencies. It took a few phone calls but it did get sorted out.
I will, however, agree with the one person who said the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I've owed on the MSP before, had it paid off, and still gotten pestered with phone calls for a week or two afterwards. My advice is give them a phone call at the 800 number and find out if you owe. If you do they're pretty good about working out a payment plan. If you don't they can stop the automated phone calls pretty quickly (I think it can take up to 48 hours but it's been awhile since I had to phone them).
Have a good day everybody.- Caller: Revenue Services of BC (Medical Services Plan)
- Call type: Debt collector
- DerekWell...I am a tourist here In B.C. and I got calls from this number recently. I have the impression that those explaining that it is a true call from Revenue Canada are a part of the scam, they use this blog to make their calls more credible.
- Joe MamaI've have a great idea for British Columbia's M.S.P. Try holding off taxing individuals until they make what is considered a living wage and not burdening people who make anything less.
Happy reading.

- Fox ReaganNot a scam, call the toll free number to verify if your account is in good standing.
Most probable cause of this happening is someone gave your phone number as a contact number for their account by accident or deliberate.
At any rate it's highly recommended that you you pick up and tell them to stop calling you to have this stop if your account is in good standing. Otherwise pay your bills.....- Call type: Debt collector
- KaylaI contacted the real MSP information line and they said THIS NUMBER IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THEM WHAT-so-ever!!! Don't give them any information.
- Caller: SCAM! Claims to be crs-msp
- Call type: Debt collector
- nadThis number keep calling my wife, it always said about the billing for our MSP. It maybe a scam number trying to get some bucks from some pockets.
- bruce604-322-7711 keep calling my phone.I don't know what their up to...watch out
- skinnydugan replies to It is MSP / Medical Plan collections| 3 repliesI spoke with someone at Service Canada, Revenue Canada and Ministry of Health Canada and they said that they don't phone people, they usually send you stuff by snail mail. If this person asks you personal information it could lead to identity theft. Service Canada has received several calls and emails with regards to this number and they still tell me that if people call you and ask you for personal information on the phone it is not from a government representative.
- Really...?Let's be rational... Do you really think that Revenue Canada or MSP would have a 16 year old girl as the automated response??? Probably not.
- Caller: Scam
- Eric replies to skinnydugan| 1 replyThey do indeed phone you. Someone I know owes quite a bit of money and used my phone number as their contact number. I used to get calls from BC Medical two or three times a month because of this.
- RedJudas replies to DebraParkin| 2 repliesSorry, but you're uninformed.
First of all, when you call this number back, they tell you to pay your bills at https://www.revenueservicesbc.com. This is not the real website. The real one ends with .gov.bc.ca. All government websites do.
Secondly, the number is not listed on the official website. The numbers listed are:
In Vancouver: 604-660-2421
In Victoria: 250-387-6121
Toll-free: 1-800-663-7867
E-mail address: EnquiryBC@gov.bc.ca - mdman replies to DebraParkinits seems you do a lot of blathering on this site
