I am in Montreal, and my wife received a call from this 303 number; no one responded when she answered, so she hung up. What's with that?? How can they confirm delivery of some phone book when they won't even say anything?

    Lisa:

For the most part, your description is accurate in saying that do not call prohibitions do not apply to PDC's activities. Even if it is a call only to confirm delivery, it still is a telemarketer call but it would not be a prohibited telemarketing call. Your comment about PDC's having an existing business relationship (EBR)exemption because people are listed in the directory is not accurate. State and federal laws say that EBR's are voluntary and must obtain the consumer's prior consent to continue the relationship beyond the initial inquiry...no affirmative consent, no EBR. If the consumer says to not call again, it's no longer voluntary and no longer exempt. Also, saying that PDC has any type of relationship with someone because their number was obtained through a Verizon (or any other) directory simply isn't true. Such a person's EBR would be with Verizon, not with PDC.

Most state and federal do not call laws say that once a person says to stop calling, any real or perceived exemption is negated and the caller is prohibited from calling again. As they say, "NO MEANS NO!"

I agree with you that an initial call to confirm delivery is not a solicitation call, but robocalls are intrusive and contrary to the intent of the do not call laws (i.e. to reduce the number of unwanted calls). The FTC has a rule in place that will limit or entirely prohibit robocalls within the next year or two. In the mean time, PDC could consider common courtesy and stop calling people who don't want the calls.

Many of your points have merit, but there are a few things that needed clarification or correction.

Did not answer.  Call terminated after 4 rings. Obvious telemarketer.  No message left.  The "Do Not Call" list is a joke!  The only way to stop these Robo calls is to get a phone or other device that can block them.  I did.  My Panasonic allows me to block up to 20 numbers.  (No, I don't work for Panasonic.)

I know this is frustrating even for me, but my buddy is a delivery person and gats 37cents per book and he has 3500 phone books to deliver and I told him that he should just burn them and say he delivered them and he said that they do spot checks and can't afford to not get paid, so really when u look at it it's a job and people are making money at it but not very much it's good to have these websites so people could understand from others what is really going on.........

    Whatever. Get a real job.

I understand people need jobs, and being a telemarketer has to be the worse job ever, but calling during supper hours is completely RUDE!

Why not call their corporate phone and ask them many questions about their business and call practices? If they do not answer, just keep calling back. If they receive 10 calls from each of us, maybe they will see the light.

    HERE'S WHAT TO DO:

Look up this company's corporate telephone number. It is not the same as the call out number 303-280-8689. Once you have their corporate number, CALL IT. Ask many questions. Call them again to be sure they understand your displeasure. CALL IT 3 more times just to be sure. If each of us does that, their corporate line may become blocked with our calls...that would really be a shame....Be sure to check their website for their most up to date phone number, as they might try to change it to avoid our complaint calls. They need to hear from us, again and again and again and again and again...

Got a call, didn't answer.  After reading the comments, I put the # on my blocked calls list.  I'm lucky that my new phone came with its own internal blocking programming, and has a very generous number of list entries (100+)

My sense is that the "person who knows so much" about the company is someone who either works in the company or in the industry.

I don't care how legit they could possibly be, they are phoning Canadians whom have little to next to nothing to do with this so called "poll". My caller ID said Colorado, there are no provinces called Colorado in Canada. I am soooo freaking sick of these scammers and fraudsters calling here because they know they'll get burned if they call anywhere in the USA.

I may just disconnect my phone if these calls do not stop. My phone companies loss, but I'll gain my sanity back.

total USA fraudster calls since I've connected this line in June 128. Complaints to the FTC 45, results notta since I'm in Canada.
