- Rich Hoch replies to NAI am in the pension industry and work with the IRS on a frequent basis. Many times when I get return phone calls from IRS staffers, this is the number that appears. There are IRS scams out there. This is not one of them.
- MJ replies to NANo, it's really the IRS. I just got off the phone with my caseworker. She's local to me, but they use that number as a mask. I listened to the voicemail and it was, indeed, my caseworker.
- Arino doubt this is legit. Happens to be the issue the called about is because someone at the IRS screwed up but this is a real agent working at the IRS about a tax issue.
- Caller: Internal Revenue Service
- EdwardIt's totally legit. I've been badgered by fake IRS calls, but this is the real deal. I'm in New England, I returned the call. I knew the agent on the other end, I've talked to him before (a good guy by the way).
- LebIt's for real. The IRS calls you from anywhere in the US but this phone number will show up. They left a message with clear information.
- Caller: IRS
- Georgel..m. "..this is Michelle..from the IRS and calling about MSB compliance..owner/compliance officer to call 804-916-8318" Why would someone call from one number and ask to call another number?
- JenNo longer a legit IRS number. Scam caller
- AnonymousThis is legitimately the IRS. I had been working with a specialist and this is the number that person called me from when they needed to get back to me after I sent additional information via fax.
- Caller: IRS
- SJRLegitimate call from the IRS. They were requesting records of one of our clients. They knew detailed information that a scammer would not know. After hanging up, we contacted our client and he confirmed that the IRS has been after him for about 4-5 years and said to give them anything they want. Provided a real phone number, first & last name of the caller, and knew our client's name, location, business, and what kind of business we are.
- Caller: IRS
- Terri| 1 replyThis number is not a scam. The problem is the person placing the call having the call on speaker and being able to hear that you have answered. The just called 3 times in a row and each time they called I said Hello Hello (I could hear that there was someone there, but no response.) The 3rd time called the woman ID herself from IRS and she was responding to inquiry and the call was completed. #IRS need better setup!!
- Caller: IRS
- ladyG replies to crysWell I went on the IRS website and the information specificity said that the IRS does not contact you through email nor through phone only through mail . I wish I could copy and paste the website for you.
- ladyG| 1 replyAnd is it possible for them to contact you from a entirely different State?
- Caller: 304-350-7010
- ladyG replies to ladyGok my mistake they do call from this number however i have a direct number ...
- Ed Janison replies to CalledIt is genuine. I am in the process of onboarding with the Pittsburgh IRS office and they called me to remind me to bring my documentation on my first day of work. They gave the correct date.
- PeteThis is a wireless caller with a West Virginia area code it is NOT the IRS. I have friends and relatives that work at the Chamblee and Atlanta Service Centers in Georgia. SCAM! I've already filed a report.
- MML| 3 repliesCalls coming out of IRS in DC are routed through their switch in WV. Have a family member that works for IRS in DC and when they call from their office, this # shows up in caller ID. For thise of you who say the IRS only communicates via written correspondence, never say never.
- Caller: IRS
- Call type: Valid
- Tygerkat replies to MMLSo if you know to whom the number belongs why did you come to a phone number look-up site?
- Actually.. replies to MML...the IRS will never contact you via phone - unless they have sent you a letter via USPS snail mail first. So - NO, the IRS does NOT call you out of the blue!
