Just got a call from these jokers stating that they had received all my information from a credit card company or bank institution and that they are entering me into a sweepstakes because I am in good standing and a valued customer.  Yeah right.  When I grilled her about where she is located she stumbled over her words like a babbling brook.  When i asked information about her company, more babbling.  I said, "You got all of my other information from my 'Institution' then why dont you call them and ask for it they'll give it to you"  more babbling.  She says she'll call me back tomorrow cause I told her I needed to think about it. HAAA!!!  Gimme a break, I'm not holding my breath for that call.

By the way they call themselves "Publishers Headquarters" and they are running a "Dreams come true sweepstakes"

This guy says i was the 10th contestant to be entered into a drawing for $100,000 dollars, he confirmed just my address.  No other info.  i kept telling him this is a scam and how he got my information, he kept saying it was from a credit card, i said "I don't have any credit cards!" he began to stutter, and then said he just wanted to confirm my address.  He said he was in the LA area, when the number came from the Temecula area.

I received this call on my work #.  When I asked how they got the number they immediately said we can call back later.  The individual hung up, but the call went to a "Voice Mail" system that said the usual --please record your message at the beep--which I did not do!

The woman called my house (I will refer to her as the B%@&H) and asked for my wife and said that it was in reference to an appointment. As I was getting my wife the "B%@&H" hung up.
I am listed on the National DO NOT CALL List. I guess that does a really good job.
I have been trying to call them back!

i just got a call on my cell phone also. number was from 310-539-7197.
she said the same stuff as previously posted by others: my credit card company entered me - the drawing is May 31st - she's going to send me magazines - I have to buy 1 of the magazines - she needed to ask me questions about myself b/c the sweepstakes wants to know who it's winners are going to be. I kept saying, 'i don't believe that my credit card can enter me in anything w/out asking me first'. she said, 'well, you've obviously been paying your bills & they like you! how's the weather there?' LOL  then i said, 'you know, i don't want the free magazines - i don't want any of it actually'. she changed her tone immediately and said, 'well, i can stop the magazines, but, you're already locked into the other stuff'..WHAT OTHER STUFF? i never agreed to ANYTHING. the only thing i confirmed was my address - which SHE relayed to me. i can't WAIT to see what shows up in my mailbox.

I had a call from a similsr number 310-539-3355.  They had my address and cell phone number.  They wanted to know if I wanted to be involved in a sweepstakes.  When I questioned "Loi" the name I was given, she got upset.  She said, "Do you want to be in the contest [***]."  I was so surprised that she said that I did not speak for a minute and the she said, "Goodbye."  I am so upset that someone would speak to me like that.  that just shows you they are scamming people.  I hope they get caught and go to JAIL!!!

I received a call from this number today while at work. Thought it was a business call. The lady was well rehearsed and answered my questions. However, I did not participate in any sweepstakes and was very supicious. She did not ask for my credit card number nor did she offer to sell me magazines. She wanted to confirm my address to mail me some information. I will be looking out for another phone soon. I will let you know if I actually receive info in the mail.  (I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

LMAO I was actually trying to find the number to publishers headquarters for a job application... I USED TO WORK THERE! LOL (the office is in redondo beach right by south bay galleria) it's sooooo funny to read the comments because I hate telemarketers myself, but you can make some cool money... it's not a scam, but it is a gimmick and if you are interested in magazines then stay on the phone if not hang up! because basically they're a company who represents magazines and are trying to get you to buy a bunch of magazines

i just got the same phone call today.  the lady offered me a choice of 4 prizes IF i were to win in the may 31st drawing: a trip to switzerland, $25,000, a refurbished living room set, or a 2010 saturn.  i didn't believe her, assuming it was some sort of scam.  she asked me my age, marital status, and if i still live at my current residence.  she did not ask me for my credit card number and i certainly did not give her any pertinent information.  she told me i would be receiving a letter through the mail that i would tell me the same thing in a few days.  i was a little caught off guard with the whole thing.  be careful if you get a call from these people.  i am calling both my bank and the people whom i have a credit card with tomorow to make sure everything is right with my account.  you all should do the same.

I just got a call from Tiffany at the Publishers Headquarters.  She said that my bank had entered me in a $25,000 sweepstakes that also included an SUV.  She said that they were required to notify potential winners by certified main and needed to verify my information.

I asked her for the name of the company [again] and a phone number [(310) 370-9562] where I could call to verify what she was telling me.  When I asked for her (Tiffany) last name, she said, "I'm not gonna tell you my last name!"  I then said, "So you want me to give you [a total stranger] my info but you won't give me yours?  What do you want from me?"

She said, "I already told you what I want," and hung up the phone.

so today I was sitting in my computer class at school (college) and I got a phone call from a 310 number.  The lady was really nice and said all the stuff about the dream vacation and what not.  I confirmed my address and she made reference to the magazines, but other then my address and age she did not ask for any information.  Am I at risk for anything here by her knowing my address, name, and age?

They called me as well with the same crap. Asked me to verify my personal information and I refused. She then told me that I would be put out of the drawing. These people are scams! Do not give any information, even if they ask you to confirm whether or not you have a credit card, say that you have recently canceled all credit cards and no longer live at the current address they specified. They are all the same. They say that you have won something when in reality they just want to know whether or not you have an active credit card and currently live in the present address they have on record. Don't confirm any address, really piss them off by giving them a fake address.
