310-539-3355. This number also called me and asked for my boyfriend to whcih I said he isn't here. She said "Is this his wife or something?" And I said "This is his girlfriend" to which she cutely said "oh are you going to get married? *chuckle*" and i said "I don't know." and she said "ooh well, okay well I need to talk to his wife or him" and I said "He is NOT married." Then she proceeded to tell me that her name was Nicole and he had been entered to win a prize. I said "ok" and hung up.

i recieved the same scenario and same phone call and i too was sceptical about it but i wanted to see where it was all going and they DIDNT say i won anything but said i was a potential winner hence the address confirmation. but i did subscribe to their magazine promotion and in about a week i received my welcome package as they said i would with my watch and now i get to a change my mags everymonth. i get mags sent to me every month, 1 for me, my husband, and nickelodeon magazine for my son and i even get a couple mags sent out to my mother in florida for free. so it ISNT a scam. its legit. im not counting on winning on their sweepstakes but the magazine offer is a great deal. saves me a bunch of $

Got a call from Sophie from (310)316-7294 and she said that my bank or financial institution had registered me for their Publisher's Headquarters sweepstakes and that they had selected me today as a finalist to be entered in a drawing for $25,000.   I received four calls from (310)316-8538 the previous day but was too busy and did not take the calls.  I can only guess that the 8538 was another in the bank of numbers that are being used by this Publisher's Headquarters.   I did not register for anything of this nature nor have I ever given permission for my information to be published like this so I suspect a scam and I'm reporting both to any authorities that investigate this type of operation.   Does anyone have any suggestions?  I suspect identity theft and just want to be sure.

I received a call from 310-370-9794 on my home phone.  I answered it, and a  woman asked to speak to my wife - "by name". When I stated she wasn't in, she immediatley hung up. I called back to find out what this was about, but no one would answer my call.

They've called me 4 times in the last month.  The first time, I stopped her in her rehersed story and told her I wasn't interested and to never call me again and then hung up. Four days later I get a call from one of their other numbers with the same story. I told this girl that I had just gotten a call a few days ago and don't want to be called again. She said "oh, but our records indicate that we haven't called you in 3 months" and starts going on again. I hung up again.  Two more calls over the past couple of days that don't go to voicemail and the line is always busy or no answer.....I never pick up any number now unless I know them or it's Arizona local...
THESE ARE ALL THE DIFFERENT NUMBERS THEY'VE USED TO CALL ME SINCE APRIL 2009!
    310-370-9591, 310-370-9593, 310-370-9786, 310-370-9486, 310-370-9573, 310-370-9781, 310-370-9794, 310-370-9238, 310-316-8674

BTW, here's their Better Business Bureau report. "F"!!! Why am I not surprised?

    http://www.la.bbb.org/businessreport.aspx?companyid=100070506

    "Company Rating F
Our opinion of what this rating means:
We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices. I got a call from 310-499-1125, CALLER ID said APTELA - DID. He said he was from PUBLISHER'S HEADQUARTERS in TORRANCE, CA. I asked if he meant "PUBLISHER'S CLEARINGHOUSE?" He said "NO" and claimed he had never heard of them!! (WHAT??) The person said I'm in the running for some sweepstakes, wanted to confirm my address, I asked how he got my number, he said it was related to a credit card I carry. I gave him a PO BOX address, BUT he already had my home address. I started to ask him questions.  I asked him for HIS address, he claimed he didn't know the actual address because he was new!!!(?) I said that was ridiculous. I tried to ask him more questions and he hung up on me!
(AFTER READING ALL THESE POSTS, I WISH I DIDN'T GIVE HIM MY PO BOX...I GUESS I THOUGHT THAT WAS SAFER THAN THE HOME ADDRESS...WHICH HE ALREADY HAD ANYWAY!)

    aw
I just received a call today (8/13/09) on my cell phone from Celeste at "Publishers Headquarters" in California.  The number showed up as 310-316-8538.  She told me that I'm a finalist in the Dreams Come True Sweepstakes.  I had her confirm the name of the company and she said most people don't know of it but it exists.  She said "Apparently someone, probably a bank or credit union, entered your name in the sweepstakes because you are considered a preferred customer". She asked if I paid my bills on time and/or didn't overdraft, saying those could be reasons why the bank or credit card company (she said their system doesn't show the exact source of my information) would have provided my information to them.  She wanted to confirm my mailing address saying they needed it because I could only be notified by mail if I won their sweepstakes.  The drawing would be held December 31, 2009.  She asked if I was still at a certain address, which was correct.  Then she asked my age, which I refused to give.  She said she needed confirmation I was over 21 to be eligible, and I did confirm I was.  She asked for my marital status, and when I stated I was married she said that counts as two entries - although she did not ask for and I did not give her my husband's name.  She also asked for my occupation, which I gave her.  Then she named the 5 magazine subscriptions I would receive for free as well as a certified diamond watch in the mail just for being a finalist.  The grand prize consists of: $25,000 in cash, a 2010 Saturn hybrid car, a living room makeover, or a trip to Switzerland.  She wanted to know my 1st and 2nd preferences for grand prizes, which I indicated.  At this point she tried to give me a 6th magazine which I refused saying I didn't want any.  She said she has other magazine titles to choose from; I again said I didn't want any magazines.  She then asked if I read any magazines.  I repeated I didn't want any magazines. She said that was fine and to mark December 31 as the drawing date and almost immediately hung up.
I then googled the phone number, got nothing and then checked the company name where I found this ongoing blog.  I do think it is a company looking to sell magazines, but it was disturbing to have her call me on a DNC cell phone that is not registered under my name and knowing my home address.  Except for my marital status I didn't provide any information she did not already have, but still feel it was foolish of me to confirm what I did.  Will see if I ever receive anything in writing, much less their "free" prizes by way of the magazines and watch.  I also checked out the bbo.org website through the link a previous person provided.  This again confirms they're a company selling magazine subscriptions, but these are very misleading tactics as to how they obtained my information and what they actually trying to achieve (selling as opposed to free entries in a sweepstakes).  If I or anyone I know hears from these people I will tell them not to answer or to immediately hang up.

Received a call from this number today.  I did not answer, but the caller ID said it was from M S INC.  I looked it up on Verizon and it said it was from an unpublished listing and is a landline phone through Verizon in Redonda, CA.  I searched for M S INC but only could find a company in Florida.  Don't know if this is the same person as everyone else previously reported, but I don't intend on answering!

Hi!  Little do we consumers, card and back account holders know, the banks and CC's sell our information to third parties.  WE need to read the fine print.
